Very good guide. Achraf was very knowledgeable about his country and Tangier. He was helpful and keen do what we wanted. We had a good tour of the city and saw panoramic views from a parkland area. He took us to Spartal lighthouse where we had coffee and mint tea.We went to the Caves of Hercules too which were good to see. It was just our guide and a driver and us, so it was very personalised. We then did a tour of the medina market which was an interesting maze of small streets. Achraf seemed to know everyone! Local people were very friendly. The only criticism we would make was that we were taken into certain shops to see goods and products that we weren't really interested in. This is fairly normal , in our experience, where I suspect the guide gets a commission if we buy anything but it does become rather tedious. Once we made it clear we weren't going to buy he moved on. Overall I can recommend Achraf. He was bright and cheerful and keen to please.

Great time in Tangiers.

The first part of the tour is extremely well put together. The tour guide was very informed and able to answer all questions about the history and culture. The tour was designed to accommodate those with mobility differences. On the second part of the tour, which is termed as a "walking tour," please be prepared to experience the market with a full detailed presentation of items in various shops. You are strongly encouraged to make a purchase. If you are not interested in shopping, you may want to exit this part of the tour. You are given this option and they will return you to the point of pick up.

Thank you for sharing your experience! We’re happy you enjoyed the historical and accessible part of the tour. We appreciate your feedback about the walking tour and will work to make the experience more comfortable for all guests. We hope to see you again in Tangier!

Highlights of Morocco

Dawn_H, Sep 2025
Great tour covering the key highlights of Morocco with an extremely knowledgeable local guide. Perfect for cruise passengers with only a day to experience Morocco. Small group with only 6 of us so plenty of opportunity to ask questions and no extra costs on route, everything was covered within the tour price. Be prepared though it is an awful lot of walking! Our tour was meant to be 4 hours but it actually took 6 hours and we were all absolutely exhausted by the time we got back to the ship.

Response from Host, Sep 2025

Thank you for your detailed feedback! We’re glad you enjoyed the tour and appreciated the small group experience. Noted about the extra walking time—we’ll keep improving to balance the pace.

This trip was great, although we did not go into the cave. The line was just too long to get in and there were other places to go. Hamid was an excellent guide. He spent a lot of time discussing the history of the Kasbah and the Medina. He then guided us to an excellent restaurant when the tour was over. We highly recommend this tour.

interesting tour

Dale_R, May 2024
Our guide, Said, was extremely knowledgeable about the history & the area of Tangier. We really enjoyed driving & seeing the countryside as well as the "old" & "new" city. He suggested a good local restaurant so we could get a taste of authentic Moroccan food & it was spot on. He took his time in answering our questions. Would definitely recommend him as a tour guide.

The guide Mohamed was very knowledgeable and easy to deal with. That made the tour so much more pleasurable. It’s not an easy place to find your way around so spend the money on a guide. It’s worth so much more!!!

Interesting history interesting information and sights great knowledge guide and a safe good driver Enjoyed our time

Would do it again, minus the shopping part

EunJi_L, May 2022
I booked this trip because it had various options for pick up time, and it fit perfectly in our schedule for a 4pm tour after our arrival to Tangier at 3pm. Our guide was very informative, and answered many of our complex and sometimes stupid questions kindly about history and culture of Morocco and Tangier. The only thing I didn’t enjoy so much about the tour is the shopping part. We were taken to a family co-op artisan shop and while the guide was not pushy at all, the seller was pushy and took out like 20 rugs under the guise of telling us about the culture and techniques involved in rug making, then pretty much guilt tripped us into buy something. This is the culture of guided tours everywhere and well expected, but it was really hard to walk out of there without purchasing a rug. I’m the kind of traveler who WILL spend good money on something that I absolutely love, but I feel that I was coerced to purchase a rug that I didn’t need and wasn’t entirely in love with. I didn’t want to spend more time picking out something that is perfect, and by the 20th rug, it got quite pushy and they were already packaging a rug that I only said maybe to. Information and convenience wise, absolutely a wonderful tour. I’d do it again, minus the shopping. I dare say that This tour is not for people who are not comfortable walking away with a sense of guilt because you might go home with a buyers regret.

Do NOT take this tour. 4 of us...

Margaret L, Nov 2017
Do NOT take this tour. 4 of us booked this weeks before departing on a 3 week trip. We arrived by cruise ship at Port of Tangiers at 0830 for arranged tour of 0900. I did not receive an email with how to contact the host or any reply after 10 days for connection information. I spent 1 1/2 hours on ship phones the day before to obtain confirmation to be at port at 9:00. All other passengers were met by tour operators wearing badges and holding signs for their group. Instead, we were surrounded by shouting and aggressive men making sales pitches. Not one operator had heard of Viator. We walked 1/2 mile out of Port to another parking area where a non-English speaking driver held a paper with my name hand-written and gestured for us to get in the car. He showed no credentials, had no Viator reservation info. 20 minutes later the English speaking guide arrived and the tour began. We drove around a lot while he talked about what Islam means, their desire for peace. Saw The Cave of Hercules, but guide had no knowledge of why it was so named or any associated myths. Walked through the filthy stinking Messa, but anticipated those conditions. Walked through the Old City. He didn't show inside any buildings, only followed him through streets. Without our guide, we each snuck peeks inside hotels and were welcomed. He took us to buy spice and perfumes from a very bizarre touristy shop and creepy salesman. There was slight of hand as my purchases were wrapped. What I came home with is not what I requested. We were super anxious about the entire experience, worst part of the entire 2 1/2 week vacation.

ConnaN_C, Apr 2017
We paid extra for a private tour for 4 people. Just before the trip I received an email from JTT that I should be on the dock by 9am and look for a sign that said Mystical Tours - Condon. My sister is in a wheelchair. We had planned on storing the wheelchair at the gangplank and having her use her cane for a minimal amount of walking tour. We had agreed she would wait in the van during the Hercules Caves. The tour buses were far away from the dock so it was decided she would ride out, I'd take it back and join them. We had enough time. When we got to where operators were waiting Mystical Tours was a large bus with high step into it. Many many people. One good thing about the trip, they did decide to store the chair by putting it in bus luggage. We had to wait till after 9:15 for 4 missing people ... turns out they were at another dock and we had to go there.... actual tour start time was after 9:30am due to these delays. First stop for bathroom I spoke to the guide that this is not what I had paid for and he told me there was no way they would do a custom tour on this day. Fine for Caves For the camels we had to wait an extra long time cause after all others were done 1 couple changed their minds and we all had to wait for them to have their rides. At the Casbah we were told we had to take all things from the bus because the same bus might not meet us at the other end. That meant the wheelchair had to navigate the casbah. Not planned, very rough terrain, no help from the tour guide. Amazingly sister and chair survived. Guide required all stay with him... no stopping to look at anything ... and marched us through to his first picked place where he got a kick back The stop at the spice shop was over 30 minutes waiting for those of us whose allergies don't allow going inside. Same kickback at the next he allowed. People who stopped got in trouble with him. Tour was supposed to include a stop for lunch sellf paid before return to boat ... but at 1:30 short of the 5 hours the others on bus had paid for he returned us to ship. No help for getting the wheelchair back out. Back in after Casbah I found people to help and paid them. At dock there was only the bus driver and me ... a 68 year old woman. I tipped him for his help., NEVER EVER USE JTT OR MYSTICAL TOURS. If you need handicap assist, get a taxi when you arrive in port.

i loved the tour. my wife said it was just ok. our tour leader spoke very good english and was very knowledgeable on all aspects of tangerian life and history. i only rated this tour with four stars as the tour stated we would visit the kasbah and we, unfortunately, did not. be prepared for alot of uneven surfaces with the walking part of the tour which was more than i expected. love this city where the atlantic ocean and the mediterranean sea come together.

Brianna_S, Sep 2016
I loved our guide and the insights he gave us as a local. But I did not like the end of the tour. I had researched 4 restaurants to eat at and asked for his opinion, he said he had the best place for local food and that we should go there instead. It was a tourist trap with a bunch of other guides bringing their people in too.... so it ended up putting a bad taste in my mouth.

Picked up at Tangier Port by Alan, taxi driver, very efficient, he was holding a notice up with our name on it. We were joined by Shariff our guide who was excellent. We are elderly and not too mobile and Shaariff paced it for us and we saw all the main sites without being too exhausted. We liked Tangier, we would go back. Do not believe all the rubbish you hear from the cruise companies. We were treated with the utmost respect and did not feel threatened or in danger. Highly recommend this tour.

Hamid was a amazing tour guide showing us so many great places in Tangier. Hamid was kind and freindly and he knew so many of the people around Tangier it was so nice. we had heard stories we might of been over run with people trying to sale us things or having our handbags stolen. but we both felt very safe and our time in Tangiers was a joy and have said to friends back in England to use your tour. thank you so much for making our time so special. we were on a weeks holiday in Spain with family who live there . thank you again .
