An authentic meal with locals

We were picked up at our hotel by Penny. She took us to a wet market to pick up fresh vegetables, and see local street foods. We then went to Kelly's home and met Fei FEI and her mother ,the Shanghai Mama. We had a tea ceremony conducted by FEI Fei. She explained how to properly prepare tea and we sat with Kelly and Penny. The ladies helped and showed us how to make dumpling dough and filling. Our other courses were pork belly, assorted vegetables, potatoes prepared in a way that I have never seen before. The food was wonderful. But the most exciting part was sitting at a dinner table in a Chinese home, and talking. We had so much fun interacting with locals, and it was so beautiful to see how we people are so much more alike than different. I would do it again in a heartbeat. Please take this excursion, it is a must do. You'll not find anything like this anywhere !!!!

We had a perfect experience and a nice evening of cooking the most delicious food. Our guide FeiFei, her mother and Penny were very hospitable and we learned a lot about chinese culture. The visit to the market was also very interesting and we tried many delicious snacks. If you like cooking and want to enjoy chinese culture, you must book this tour!

Wonderful experience, delightful guides. Very friendly, pleasant and knowledgeable about food (at market & during cooking) and China in general. Food market had interesting selection, some very good, others a little much for those not used to it, but still have to experience. The instructions on food preparation were thorough, I’m prepared to make it at home, and the results were delicious.
