Amazing tour of Seoul with Jun. From start to finish, we had a great day. It was our first day in Seoul, so we would not have known where to start. He showed us great places and told us interesting information about Seoul and Korea. We stopped at a great lunch place with delicious Korean food. He was funny and fun to be around. I recommend that you take this tour if you are in Seoul.

The DMZ tour was a highlight of our South Korea trip. I would say it is a must to understanding the country and its relationship with North Korea. The kids found it very interesting and enjoyed it. Our tour guides were knowledgeable and interactive. They took us to an amazing Korean BBQ after. In addition, they dropped us at the airport for the next leg of our journey.

Friendly, knowledgeable guide. A lot of time spent in traffic which can’t be helped but just for awareness. Too expensive overall, especially considering I had to pay an extra $100 for airport pickup/drop off.

Jun picked us up at the appointed time and we immediately headed to the DMZ. He was very knowledgeable about the history of Korea and the events leading up to what is now the DMZ. He took us to numerous displays and overlooks that helped us understand the current situation. Lunch was at a local noodle restaurant and the meal was delicious! Jun was very accommodating as we decided after lunch, to see more of Seoul and he drove us to a wonderful shopping area in town and had us at the airport with lots of time before our flight. I would not hesitate to have him as our tour guide if we return to Seoul.

Our guide, Jun, was wonderful. We spent a most enjoyable day exploring the highlights of Seoul. Although the tunnel for the DMZ was closed on a Monday, he provided a fantastic alternative view. He was attentive to our requests and it was a very personalised tour. He took us to a lovely Korean barbecue restaurant for lunch, which we thoroughly enjoyed. He was great at talking photographs and his command of English was excellent. We would highly recommend him.

Jun was an incredible driver and tour guide during my short stay in Seoul. He was punctual, professional, and so friendly — instantly making me feel comfortable and welcome. His wealth of knowledge about Korean culture, history, and local life truly enriched my trip.

Really enjoyable day.
We were able to do things at our own pace, so to speak, with Heni, our guide, and her husband who acted as our driver. Worth every penny, dearer than what you would pay for a group trip, but as it was a personal guided tour the price tag was justified. We were able customise the day, with Henis guidance. Heni herself, was very knowledgeable and helpful, acting as our photographer to boot,
I would recommend this tour without any hesitation.

In September 2025, four of us went on a tour with Alfonso to the DMZ and Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul. This was our only full day in the city, and since it fell on a Monday we knew that most of the usual DMZ sites would be closed. Alfonso adjusted the itinerary and took us instead to the Aegibong Peace Observatory. The weather was clear and we had excellent views across the river into North Korea. The observatory was crowded, not only with visitors but also with a large Korean television production that included cameras, crews, television personalities, and interviews with North Korean defectors. At times this made it difficult to move around freely, but it was also fascinating to see such a major production taking place. Alfonso explained the geography, the border, and the villages across the river, while also describing what was happening with the filming. One unexpected sight was a Starbucks right at the edge of the DMZ.
For lunch we went to Joyang Bangjik on Ganghwa Island, a former rayon factory that has been converted into a café and cultural space. Alfonso may have suggested it because he realized at the observatory that I was a photographer. The building was filled with antiques, art, flowers, and a butterfly garden, making it a wonderful place to explore as well as to eat. The pastries were familiar in some ways but also quite different from what we usually find at home, creamier, more buttery, and often sweeter. As a photographer, I enjoyed the setting itself, and as a butterfly photographer in particular, I was delighted to discover the butterfly garden, which turned out to be an unexpected bonus.
In the afternoon we toured Gyeongbokgung Palace. Alfonso guided us through the entire complex, explaining the architecture and history, and how the palace had been repeatedly destroyed, abandoned, and rebuilt. His explanations were not scripted, but shaped by our questions and interests, which made the visit much more engaging.
What stood out throughout the day was not only the places we saw, but the conversations we had. Because this was a small group tour with just the four of us, it felt much more personal than a large bus tour that follows a fixed script. Alfonso was constantly sharing insights into history, culture, and politics, and he welcomed our questions, making the tour feel like an ongoing dialogue rather than a lecture.
He also acted as our photographer, using his professional DSLR to take both posed and candid pictures. After the tour he sent us more than 70 images, which was a thoughtful addition to the day.
We spent over eight hours together, much of it driving through Seoul traffic, but the time never felt wasted. It was a full and rewarding day, and I would highly recommend this tour. Alfonso also offers a more extensive full-day DMZ tour that includes access to sites from his own military career in the area. If you have more time and want a deeper DMZ experience, you should look for that option on Viator.

We booked the Free Style Private Tour (Essence of Seoul City) and it exceeded our expectations! Our guide, Jun, was amazing — super knowledgeable and engaging, but also funny, which made the whole day feel relaxed and enjoyable. We even arrived at the meeting location about 5 minutes late, and he was so flexible and understanding that it instantly took away any stress.

We booked two private tours on our recent stay while in Korea. One to the DMZ (and other activities along the way) and one touring differint attactions in Seoul.
Jun was our guide for both days and he an excellent guide. He picked us up each day at our hotel (he was always prompt) and led us on a personalized itinerary to see the highlights of each location. He had a lot of history behind the different sites...and as others have said he is happy to adjust the itinerary if you like one more (or less). He even had bottled water waiting for us one day as he didn't want us to overheat! Finally, the lunch spots he suggested each day were fantastic.
If you want an excellent experience in Korea without the headaches of the the large tour group, I highly suggest these tours.

We had some difficulty leaving the airport and were relieved that Jun waited and communicated with us through the entire time. He picked us up when we got out and we were able to cover a lot in the few hours of our lay over. He gave us a choice of traditional dishes for lunch and we throughly enjoyed our meal. When we said we were ready to wrap things up, he got the car and got us back to the airport in time for a smooth check in. I would recommend Jun as his car was spacious and it was easy with our luggage stored in the back.

We booked this experience for my son and I to visit the DMZ and Gyeongbokgung Palace. Jun was our guide and he was wonderful. We were able to skip the crowds, have a personalized itinerary and see the highlights. We were also able to see North Korea from a less busy observatory and it was the highlight of my son’s day. We were able to get some great insights on the Gyeongbokgung Palace as well. If you want a meaningful experience without the large tour group, this is the tour to book. Oppa Jun has been amazing. He arrived 30minutes earlier and waited for us. Communication was precise. He accomodate to my elderly mother and served her with care during lunch and make sure some of the route are suitable for her. He is very knowledgeable, accommodative and did the sharing (just nice, not overloaded us with info). Most people told us that there is nothing to see at DMZ but visit with June was worth it as he made it memorable. We had special request and he is very accommodative, he brought us to emart traders to shops for ginseng and fruits. He went overtime for us without any complains… oh my.. he is good. We are grateful to have him as our guide & booking him again for other trips next few days.

We booked a day trip to the DMZ with pick up from the cruise terminal and drop off after at the airport. Our guide Sophia was amazing, despite a very messy disembarkation at the terminal, with huge queues of cars and taxis trying to collect the cruisers, she picked us up on time and drove us away from the chaos. Sophia is a very well informed guide and shared lots of information about her home country, making it a very interesting day at the DMZ. She took us to an authentic local restaurant for lunch The food was delicious and was incredibly good value. Sophia is very friendly and helpful and tailored the trip to meet our needs. All through the trip she took lots of photos for us. We enjoyed the whole day, the DMZ is unique and the experience did not disappoint and Sophia is lovely.

Jun is an experienced tour guide, was born and raised in Seoul and is a wonderful person to have a chat with on topics ranging from culture, history, world politics to food. The tour is fully customisable to your needs and interest. Jun was attentive to my needs , responsive on Whatsapp straight from booking to even after the tour ended, was flexible with the schedule offering valuable suggestions for tourist spots and knew all great eating and shopping spots. If you are a solo , female traveller I would strongly recommend Jun because he was friendly, appropriate and safe ; especially since I was a non- local. Additionally, he is a great conversationalist and had a good sense of humour which made the day enjoyable. On our 7 hour tour of Seoul - we were able to visit the Gyeongbokgung Palace, Korean Folk Museum, Blue House, Insadong Market and Gilsangsa Temple.
