I had the pleasure of having Eugene of Seoul City Tour be my guide for a tour of the Paju DMZ. Before the tour he was extremely communicative with details of the tour, helping me understand how things would work so I could be prepared. He was knowledgeable, fun, a great general conversationalist. The day of the tour he was early at my hotel so there was no waiting. That day it was very cold and he came prepared with hand warmers, snacks and water. I am an English speaker and he was perfect on the language. I also had limited time and he ensured it was an efficient trip. I would highly recommend him.

A clean passenger van met us on time at our hotel. The driver and tour guide were pleasant and competent. The van took us for the approx 1 hour drive to a location where we boarded a large tour bus with tourists who used the non-private tour option. We drove to the dmz and visited the lookout point. Then we took the same bus to tour the tunnel #4. Where our guide smartly guided us into the tunnel quickly to avoid the bus load of people. One more stop for tourist shop then after we buses out of the area we hopped off the bus to use our small passenger van and private driver
People considering this tour need to understand that the iconic blue buildings of the jsa or Panmunjom is NOT part of this tour. Even though the Internet says the jsa reopened since the middle of 2025 and we were actually on a Saturday tour. The price doesn't mean the jsa is included. Get clarification from your tour company if that is your goal.

My wife and I took the private DMZ tour with Sally and it could not have been better. The tour started with a pickup at our hotel. On the way to the DMZ, Sally gave us a nice history of Korea. Once we arrived, Sally took care of everything. We spent a half an hour doing a Q&A with a real North Korean defector and then we boarded a bus with other tour groups. Even though there were other groups with us, Sally gave us a really personalized experience. Our first stop was a North Korean tunnel, followed by an observation deck, and finally a South Korean village in the DMZ. The final stop was a bit of a tourist trap but we were only there for about 15 minutes so it wasn’t too bad. After the bus returned to the parking area, we got back in our private transfer back to the hotel. We didn’t have to do anything the whole time except take in the sites. While this might be a more costly tour than most, Sally made it very easy and it was a joy to converse with her about Korea all along the way. Highly recommend this tour.

Though this was billed as a private tour, it wasn’t actually private (we had a private ride from the hotel but the tour itself was part of a larger group - it sounds like only the large tour buses are allowed within the DMZ, but this would have been nice to know before booking).
Our tour guide seemed impatient to get through the tour. At one point, while half our party was in the bathroom he was pushing us to go to the parking lot. He didn’t seem that engaged in our questions. I think some storytelling could have enhanced the experience somewhat.
Overall I would say this tour technically met the requirements- but some more engagement and upfront information about what the tour was could have improved the experience.

We booked a private 2 person DMZ tour. While the tour was informative and enjoyable, it was not the highlight of our day. While at the observatory, a young boy started choking. Our guide Felicity, sprinted over and began performing the Heimlich maneuver. No joke, I think she saved the boys life. He eventually spit out a hard candy. The tour itself was really interesting and well organized. But, the actions of our tour guide Felicity, is what I wil always remember.

We had an amazing time on our tour today the DMZ. It was a bit rainy and gloomy out and AJ came prepared with an umbrella and pictures of the areas we couldn’t see because of the weather. She was so knowledgeable and fun and it felt like we were getting a hands on history lesson with an immersive experience. Highly recommend this tour and I highly recommend AJ!

We found the tour with BK very interesting and informative. We learned much about history. The driver and the vehicle were safe and comfortable. BK was pleasant, helpful, and knowledgeable. Even though we were required to join the large bus tour, BK traveled with us and assisted in everything with guidance. The tunnel requires stamina to walk back out after the tour (it’s a ramp, but very steep and long). The tunnel requires some crouching for taller guests. Photos are not allowed in the observatory and tunnel. It’s such a unique opportunity to explore. I highly recommend.

My partner and I spent our final day in Korea on a private DMZ tour with our amazing tour guide Miel. She greeted us right in our hotel lobby and guided us through the various security checkpoints, the observatory, the tunnel, Freedom Bridge and more. She was prepared with a series of photos and maps that she used to explain the history of the Korean War and gave an excellent introduction of the areas we were about to go see - while her boss drove us in a comfortable and spacious luxury sedan. The trip was well organized and timed perfectly so we avoided many of the lines and crowds.
Miel pointed out numerous 'points of interest' and landmarks that we would not have noticed otherwise. She took amazing photos for us (where permitted by the South Korean Military/Government) throughout the day, even suggesting poses at the various photo ops. Her energy and passion for the job was very evident and made our final day in Korea one we will remember forever!

Excellent experience overall. Gained a lot of knowledge about Korea's history and culture. The private tour was well worth the cost. AJ was our tour guide. She was amazing! Super engaging, personable and extremely knowledgeable. She more than exceed expectation.
In fact, my wife and I only take private tours whenever we travel. This tour hands down was the best we have ever experienced.

Our guide DK was excellent, very knowledgeable not just on the DMZ, but Korea in general. Very personalized experience where you get one on one conversation as opposed to a group tour (of about 20-30).

Unfortunately, our trip to the DMZ had to be modified because of heavy rain. We were not able to enter the zone due to flooding. We were very disappointed and wanted to cancel our trip but we held out. Our guide, Lizzy, was wonderful. She worked to make our trip great nonetheless. She quickly pivoted to see what parts of the tour she could still deliver despite multiple shutdowns and closures throughout the day. She was very informative and patient withy two young children. I would give her 5 starts but only rates the trip a 4 since we were not able to experience everything due to weather.

This was my birthday present to myself and I couldn’t ask better that Laura. She was an incredible guide and I highly recommend her. She was pleasant informative and very kind and knowledgable. Just Amazing!
The tour was fascinating and I am so glad I did it and highly recommend the private tour if you can afford it I spent USD$480 dollars for the private tour with Viator which was a little expensive but as I had booked only the day before and there were no other spaces and being my last day in Korea I had little choice but was treated like a vip so thank you and my birthday was a great success thanks to Laura.
