We loved the 4x4 experience with Jose! He was very communicative leading up to the tour and at pickup, and he was incredibly flexible with our plans due to the weather. The tour itself was fantastic, and Jose shared a ton of interesting information about the Azores that made the experience even better. I definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting the islands!
José is an expert of the azores. You can hear the passion and expertise he has about his environment. If you want to make a meaningful memory and get to know the island from a true local, book this!

This tour gives you a glimpse into Azores island and having a very knowledgeable tour guide like Jose enhances it dramatically as you experience not only amazing nature wonders of the island but also learn about it’s heritage, history and culture from such a passionate guide. Very appreciative for Jose’s sharing his knowledge and making this stop on the island unforgettable.
Jose was PHENOMENAL! Also, due to weather conditions, our whale/dolphin watch was canceled and he set us up last minute with another wonderful tour the next day.. which was also FABULOUS!!! That guide was Luis and we LOVED him too!!
Jose was our tour guide on the 4x4 tour to Sete Cidades. Unfortunately, the weather was not cooperative, and Jose tried his best to show us all the sights , even though it was extremely foggy. He gave us a lot of information about the island and all the volcanoes. Would recommend booking this tour.
Juan met us at the designated place, drove through town and country to get a feel for the area. He was very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna and geographical history as well as political history. We had a WC break and there was a snack bar and gift shop.
José was incredible. Very knowledgeable and an excellent driver, navigating the roads around the canyons.

We had an amazing morning on our rim tour with Jose. He shared a wealth of information with us regarding the island and the Sete Cidades rim and area. Touring with a licensed naturalist was a bonus. Jose was an incredible driver, as he navigated the rim “road” (dirt & stone trail). We made multiple stops for photos and short walks. At the bottom of the crater, we enjoyed the opportunity to walk the pennisula on the blue lake. A fabulous tour, which we recommended to friends. They also, had an amazing tour with Jose the following day.
Josè picked us up from our hotel which was great. We were quickly on our way and had the most fantastic time.
We got to take in some amazing views (even though the weather wasn’t the best it was still amazing) and learned so much from the knowledge Josè has!
We would highly recommend this and think it was amazing value for money. If we come back to Ponta Delgada we will 100% want to do this again :)
This was one of the best tours I have ever had in any country. Our guide was very knowledgeable and wonderful to learn from. My parents had been on a two week trip with multiple guides prior to this experience and said they learned more about the island in 4 hours on this tour than they had in the entire 2 weeks prior. We highly recommend this experience!
Such a great tour! I would highly recommend this. The views were amazing, it did not disappoint. The weather started out a little cloudy so (José?) took us a different route and by the time we hit the rim the sun was out.
José was super-informed and did everything to make it a nice afternoon for us. The trip was fabulous with incredible views and interesting history. Would definitely recommend!

Loves this tour! Jose was an excellent guide, especially if you are the inquisitive type. My group loves nerding out about things and Jose knew so much about the islands. He told us about the history, plant life, the rocks, the birds.... pretty much everything. He was also super accommodating of any time we wanted to stop and take a picture. Would highly recommend this tour!
Awesome afternoon! It was just me. Got to stop and take photos where I wanted. The fog was strong but Jose navigated it as best he could so I still got some great views. Also, he squeezed in an hour long hike for me which was fab. He was kind enough to let me borrow his vest as I was ill-prepared for the wind. Stunning part of the island to visit! And we stopped in a cafeteria and I had a terrific pumpkin soup, pickled quail eggs, and a couple of local pastries. Highly recommend the adventure!
Jose our tour guide was absolutely amazing! He had so much knowledge to share about the history and the flora and fauna of the island. Even though it was a foggy day, we still had some beautiful views of the lakes and loved our tour from beginning to end. We want to come back again and do another tour with him for sure!

My daughter and I had a great time. What an experience the sights were amazing and our tour guide was the best. He is a one man show and he knows his stuff. It was rainy and windy but it did not matter he made sure we were happy and he packed in as much as possible. We would highly recommend this tour.
Don’t even hesitate to book with Jose. We spent a fantastic half day with him. Four hours have never gone by so quickly. José is an amazing guide. He is extremely knowledgeable about the island’s flora and history. I felt like I read an entire guidebook on the Azores during the time that we spent with him. He gave us lots of local insights and tips, and was very engaging, friendly, and personable. And the views and sights he showed us were breathtaking. Sete Cidade caldera and environs is simply amazing. So worth the time, and money very well spent! I can’t recommend Jose enough.
Jose was a brilliant guide and we loved our tour - the scenery was spectacular and so beautiful I could hardly believe it was real. The tour was tailored exactly to what we wanted to do and see, and Jose was really friendly, a mine of information about the area and the Azores, and just wanted us to have a fantastic time...which we certainly did! Highly recommended.
José was an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable, passionate about the natural world of the Azores and an excellent driver over difficult terrain. We learnt a lot from José about the volcanic formation of the Azores, the flora, the history etc.
When it became obvious that on his normal route visibility was deteriorating and so he suggested dropping down to the coast - that too was great. Very lucky to have him as our guide and certainly would not hesitate to recommend him.
Our tour guide Jose Santos was excellent. He was extremely knowledgeable and accomodating. He went our of his way to take us to our grandmothers church where she was baptized in Lagoa. We highly recommend Carpe Deum Tours. Thank you Jose, you made our vacation extra special!

We chose this tour because of past reviews and itinerary. We were not disappointed. Jose Santos from Carpe Diem dream tours was there to meet us as soon as we got off the ship. On the way out of the city, he was already sharing a lot about the city and it's architecture. The weather was perfect and we got to see everything on the tour and we were never rushed at all. Jose gave us plenty of time to see the sights and take all the pictures we wanted. We were even able to customize the tour to include a stop at a local restaurant for lunch. How fun! We highly recommend Carpe Diem tours with Jose. You will be glad you booked this tour. We were dropped off back at our dock with plenty of time to make the all aboard.

We had a brilliant day out, the guide was excellent, would definitely recommend this trip.
We decided not to use the ship's services and booked with Carp Diem Tours for a 4x4 trip and Joseph was our guide. We were driven around the valley floor, we also tried to see the lakes from up high but the mist came in. Joseph also drove us around the top of the volcano which was very exciting. We went to Kings Point where we had magnificent views of the blue and green lakes and Silence Bay. We would thoroughly recommend Carp Diem Tours. Joseph was very knowledgeable and courteous. He even provided us with a cup of coffee and some delicious biscuits. We did this trip in January this year and have been travelling since so apologies for lateness in getting this review in.

Our Viator tour with Jose of Carpe Diem Dream Tours was the best. The island is small but packed with extraordinary natural history and beauty. Fortunately Jose was able to bring it to life and in 4 hours introduced us to the Western side of the island. You will not be disappointed.
