Volcano boat trip

Shibashis_K, Aug 2023
Nice experience of watching Santorini from the seas with good views. Learning history of Santorini and the volcanos from the guide also very good.

Amazing!

Wonderful cruise. The king Thiras was amazing and the guide was very clear in the explanations. The places were also beautiful.

Great Value Tour

Gray value trip which gave you an insight to the formation of Santorini over the years with beautiful scenery and great service from all.

It's too long of day

melissahB307AY, Aug 2019
The day began with a pick up close to our hotel. It was a nice touch that the tour company picked us up closer to our hotel and dropped us off at the same place. We weren't expecting the boat to be so large and to have the crowds on the tour. The clientele seemed more interested in partying and smoking than seeing and experiencing the sites. The tour description indicated it was a morning cruise and we'd be back by 3 or 4. It was much longer than that and we didn't get back to port until 6 PM. The positives of the trip were the guide, Constantine. He was well educated, articulate, multi lingual and when he took the tour to the volcano he waited before he started speaking. This is a big thing in Greece - we didn't have that great of luck with our other guides. Another positive were the sites we visited - the volcano, hot springs and island of Thirissia. The down side, besides the party atmosphere, were the time frames at each location. Our experience to this point has been the desire for longer stays at each location but this tour took way too much time at the volcano (could have shortened by 30 minutes) and on Thirissia (they gave us 3 hours and we only needed half that or 2 hours max). On the way back to port they took us to see a few landmarks, which were nice but given the day was so long, we just wanted to get back to Santorini. Lastly, the clientele on the boat detracted from the experience. This has nothing to do with the boat company, but we would have preferred a more family friendly crowd. A crowd that smoked less, partied less and who dressed more appropriately. If we were to do this cruise again, we'd look for a smaller boat - less people - and one geared more towards families and/or professional people.

Great day adventure

I get seasick but the boat was fine once it got underway. I enjoyed walking around looking at the different Caldera on our first stop, then swimming out to the various Hot Springs under the water. The water was not hot it was very warm in some spots where the Springs came up in bubbles. Then on our last stop I had fun riding a donkey up the mountain in just 20 minutes which was the only way I would get up there to the restaurant since I'm getting older now and don't have the stamina to climb in the heat. The view was spectacular on the way up and from the restaurant. I get seasick, but the boat was fine once it got underway. I enjoyed walking around looking at the different caldera on our first and the lava flows, then swimming out to the various Hot Springs under the water on our second stop. There is a little iron in the water but it did not stained my white bathing suit at all. The water was not hot it was very warm in some spots where the springs came up in bubbles. The view was spectacular on the way up and from the restaurant. At the end of the trip we cruised along the coast of Santorini and got another perspective from below, the sea breeze and the late afternoon cruise back was very relaxing and a great way to end the day which lasted longer than I expected but I was glad it did. We got dropped off right before the Sunset Cruise went out and we're bussed back to our starting location. I would highly recommend this day trip for people who like variety and adventure. It was the highlight of our stay on Santorini.
