This is an amazing experience! Alex was an incredible guide! He brought us to three great local Tapas bars in Santiago and provided us with interesting tidbits of information about the history and culture of Galicia, Santiago de Compostela, and the Camino de Santiago! Highly recommend going on this tour!

Lovely evening in Santiago de Compostela

croninfamily, Jun 2026
This was a really enjoyable walking tour around the old streets of Santiago de Compostela with our wonderful guide, Alex. By the end of the evening we were replete with food, wine and a a better understanding of Galician cuisine and culture. At the conclusion of the tour Alex took us to a bar for some live music (this was an optional extra, not included in the tour). The musician on this occasion was James, a very talented guitar player who was joined for a couple of numbers by the owner of the bar who turned out to have a lovely singing voice. All in all, a lovely evening in Santiago.

Alex was awesome! Very knowledgeable and excellent choices for tapas and wine pairings. We had a great evening, and even continued on to a recommended live music event after our tour.

Experience Tapas & history all in one!

Linda_H, May 2026
This was a wonderful tapas experience that truly showed off Galacian flavors. The locations were perfect, to see the ‘non touristy’ city, the everyday living of locals. Alex, our expert guide, was full of history, stories & his love for Santiago De Compostela. Highly suggested tour. Thank you, Alex.

Great experience!

Lauren_B, May 2026
Alex was knowledgeable and so nice! We had been in Santiago for 3 days already so I was worried about going to the same places we’ve already been to but nope! Alex took us to all new-to-us places and everything we had was nothing we had tried before. We ended the night at a local bar that had an open mic night. Good music was a nice way to end the night!

Tasting and Exploring

Shelly_B, May 2026
Alex is passionate about Tapas, Wine and the Santiago Vibe. He is kind and caring. Yummy mussels, peppers and an extraordinary white wine pairing. Learned about extremely popular pubs which are way too tiny with a 7:30pm crowd which makes it hard to hear and get timely service 😬. Plus these pubs contribute to a party atmosphere that changes the personal or spiritual and physical accomplishment completions of many pilgrims pouring in daily. The alcohol compounded with the college kids and high school kids "spring break" wildness party place becomes a magnet -it is a bit more about "sin" than sacred 🤣 so Santiago needs to own their own challenges created via market choices. Suggest to start tour at 4pm Happy Hour time before so packed at 7:30pm ...or ...choose larger pub. Suggest a brunch tasting to include the old market and fresh cooking on the restaurant side. Learning about how the local citizens enjoy meals and their favorite places and how families share meals and a cooking class would be amazing. So much fantastic items to experience-going back to chestnut shop today! Enjoy.

Response from Host, May 2026

Thank you for your feedback ! Sorry about the noise. I can't do the tour at 4pm, bars and restaurants are close 😅

Authentic and personal

Ardelle_M, May 2026
A big thanks to Alex for an authentic evening in Santiago. Even though everyone else cancelled, he still took me out and showed me all the best local spots. His passion for the city's food scene and local wine knowledge made the night. We finished the evening at a local bar with live music. Highly recommended!

Response from Host, May 2026

The pleasure is mine! Thank you for your feedback, it means a lot for me!

Great Tour of the Tapas Area of the Old Town

bill_g, Apr 2026
Alex, the owner, did a great job customizing the tapas tour for us. It was a nice experience! I really recommend it as a great way to learn the Galician culture over food and drink.

Response from Host, May 2026

Thank you so much!

Exceptional way to spend an afternoon in Santiago de Compostela.

Jenn_G, Apr 2026
Have taken many food tours. This one was exceptional. Excellent guide, Alex, has carefully chosen each stop, cultivated relationships with purveyors and gives just the right amount of information to engage but not overwhelm or lecture. Enjoyable afternoon in one of the world’s gems of gastronomy.

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Thank you so much for your review! It means a lot for me!

Perfect way to try Galician wine and food!

Lainie_F, Mar 2026
Alex was super knowledgeable about the wines and history of the area. I’ll admit, I knew of tapas as a concept, but not why/how they came to be. Everything was really delicious. This is a perfect way to get a taste of the city after walking the Camino de Santiago! He pointed out a bunch of meaningful places in the city that I will now have to return to Santiago to see

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Thank you! You were perfect too!

Fantastic Tapas tour with Alex

Anne_B, Mar 2026
Alex was awesome! Very knowledgeable, fun, took a to three great places where we did not have to wait much to get in even though the places were popular. The tapas were delicious! We finished us the evening n a bar with live music. Very enjoyable evening! Highly recommend this tour!

Great tapas tour!

Robert_H, Oct 2025
Fantastic tapas tour with Alex! He is engaging, knowledgeable and very entertaining. He took us to the market, where we sampled cheese, then to a store that specializes in chestnuts and chestnut products, and then a bakery for the tarta de Santiago sampling. We aLao visited 3 bars to sample drinks and delicacies. It was a very engaging several hours; we learned a lot and had a lot of fun. Be sure to make this happen while you are in Santiago!

We met our guide, Alex and the group for a great night of chat and laughter. The tapas restaurants that Alex took us to served amazing food and wine. Thanks Alex for a great night.

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Thank you! I spend a very good Time as well!

A good food tour.

Darren_B, Oct 2025
Good tour. The tapas was good and the wine was great. The Angry Tiger mussels were amazing, especially when you dipped your bread in the left over sauce. Didn’t cater all that well for non-meat eaters. We did get cheese though.

Response from Host, Mar 2026

Underwhelming

Tamera_L, Sep 2025
There was very little food offered at the three tapas locations. We were given tastes of some interesting things, but cumulatively it did not amount to a meal.

Response from Host, Sep 2025

I'm sorry to read that. So you were very starving because i provided a good amount of Tapas.

karianne_r, Sep 2025
This is the first food tour I have done and I had a great time. Alex picked out great food and gave us good wine recommendations.

Response from Host, Sep 2025

Thank you! Glad to read that!

Incredibly well done

Jenifer_D, Sep 2025
I did the tour with my husband and another couple. Alex kept us informed before the trip and everything was seamless. Alex is such a delight to listen to and has so much knowledge about the area. He took us to hidden gems that we wouldn’t have come across if not for his expert guidance. He gives you a complete rundown about the city and explains the gastronomy so well. He has a passion for this city and you can tell with his enthusiasm. He takes you to places that aren’t pushy or force you to buy something when sampling. Highly recommend if you are short on time as this 2.5 hours tour is more than enough to get you to fall in love with Santiago de Compostela.

Response from Host, May 2026

Thank you for your incredible review! It means a lot!

Tapas Experience

Donald_M, Sep 2025
Wonderful experience and our guide Alex made it all the more enjoyable. He explained fully the traditions of the Galician people and the tapas we savoured were all local delicies

Great experience for wine and tapas

Perfect activity

Jana_C, Aug 2025
Tasty wine and tapas, interesting information, pleasant evening, good comany, Alex is the best guide

1000% worth it.

Dylan_S, Jul 2025
Alex was incredibly personable and insightful. He took us to places we would've never gone if we didn't have a local showing us. He was so knowledgeable about the food, the people, the wine and region. We enjoyed learning about the history of Santiago de Compostela. The city itself is magical, being able to see it through the eyes of a local with delicious tapas and wine took it to a while other level. If you are at all thinking about booking, don't hesitate to do it. It is completely worth it in so many different ways

A delicious delight in Santiago de Compostela

Phil, Jul 2025
The guide is engaging and interesting and provides an insider’s take on good places to try tapas and excellent wines. We toured several bars and some specialist shops, where we tried local produce. The guide has the ability to bring together a bunch of strangers and see them depart as friends. His deep knowledge of Galician cuisine, culture and history shines through and he is generous in drawing on the knowledge of others too. His ability to speak several languages is another plus. Thank you for an enlightening and entertaining evening in Santiago de Compostela.

Don’t miss!

Patricia_C, Jun 2025
A wonderful evening visiting three different tapas bars and a chestnut store. Local wines, local vermouth, and wonderfully various tapas were presented by our guide Alex, who taught us about the region and the history of tapas. Highly recommend!

I was the only person who...

Carrie_B, Jun 2025
I was the only person who signed up for this Friday evening tour. As a solo traveler I would have appreciated being given the opportunity to move forward with tour or cancel. I typically feel comfortable as a solo traveler knowing that there are tours out there (such as this tapas and wine tasting) where I get to enjoy socializing with others. This was not the case and I felt very uncomfortable as I was going to be drinking and tasting alone. In addition I do these tours as I typically glean from others observations/questions but again this was not to be the case as I was the only individual on the tour. Therefore I chose to exit the tour as we arrived at first location. It's no fun drinking "alone" on a Friday night. Again would have appreciated the opportunity to cancel or move to another date when there would have been others in attendance.

Response from Host, Jun 2025

I understand but i did this tour hundred times with a solo travelers. Actually this week was very chill and i had a solo traveler severals time. It's the first Time someone is feeling so uncomfortable . It was something new , i didn't knew how to react. I would have been not possible to cancel but maybe to move to another date.

Great introduction to Galician food and culture.
