Beautiful French Basque Trip

We had a terrific day with our guide, Ander, who is from this region and filled the day with fantastic commentary about the history and culture of the Basque region. We saw such beautiful countryside, quaint villages, tried local specialties and met some local shopkeepers. We loved it! We had a fabulous lunch right along the river in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port and learned all about the history of this region as the gateway to Spain, along the Camino Santiago. Ander was so gracious, flexible, informative and positive—we had lots of time to linger and poke around, never feeling rushed. This day trip was a true highlight of our trip!

Micheal (I hope I’m spelling it correctly) was the perfect guide. His knowledge of Spanish and French history was very good, and he was able to explain so much to us about the Basque culture and help us understand this part of the world. The towns he took us to were all beautiful and had meaning. We especially enjoyed his lunch recommendations and insights into the local people. This was a highlight of our trip

Great way to spend the day even though it was wet. Gave us an opportunity to taste some French basque delicacies and enjoy the market day. We would never have found these places on our own.

This is a trip that must NOT be missed!!! Ander and Nina were our guides. They picked us up at our hotel in a very comfortable car, and took us into the countryside. We visited amazingly quaint villages, walking the streets and visiting a local bakery where they treated us to txantxigorri a cookie with pork in it! and coffee. A lovely couple who by the end of the trip felt like family! Both Ander, who is a local and Nina, are well versed in the history of the Basque Country as well as everything San Sebastian. Had we known their depth of knowledge about everything Basque as well as being well traveled themselves, we probably would have booked them for the entire time we were there. We loved this part of the world and hope to cross paths with Ander and Nina again either there or hopefully in our hometown one day!

This tour stands out as our favorite memory of visiting San Sebastian! Our guides, Nina and Ander, were fantastic! We had a lovely, sunny day to meander throughout the French Basque Countryside in a comfortable, luxury ride! The scenery was stunningly beautiful. We had wonderful photo opportunities. Nina and Ander are both very knowledgeable about all aspects the villages. They even treated us to a traditional Basque cake and coffee, which was totally delicious. Sites not seen by any bus tour. Totally recommend touring with our friends Nina and Ander. It's a bargain, DON'T PASS THIS ONE UP!!

I thought I was joining a small group tour but it turned out to be just me so I got all the attention of a personalized tour from a husband and wife team, Nina and her husband. I love to take photos and they brought me to the best spots for photography. They are extremely hospitable and generous. They even bought me coffee and lunch. Love the whole experience despite the rain. I hate to drive and this is a great way to see the French Basque Country since public transportation, even though not impossible, would be a hassle. Highly recommend it.
