I recently did the river caving experience at Charco azul along with a visit of the Indian Caves, and it was truly unforgettable. Our guide Guía was excellent, incredibly knowledgeable, full of fascinating information, very kind, and clearly passionate about the area. The landscapes were absolutely stunning, both in charco azul and in the Indian caves. We also stopped for lunch at a local restaurant recommended by our guide, which served delicious Puerto Rican food at very affordable prices, such a perfect addition to the day! I can’t recommend this experience enough. It’s absolutely worth it!

Our family had a great day trekking through rivers and caves. Joma was a wonderful tour guide- kind and super knowledgeable. Our tour was the perfect blend of adventure, and natural/cultural history. I would highly recommend for future travelers.

This was a full day tour that included everything that was promised. Jose was patient and kind with my 8 year old who was a bit nervous about the river caves and slow moving. We had an incredible experience!

This was an absolutely amazing experience. The tour I did was caving at charco azul and indian cave. We spent the day with Joma as our tour operator who actually owns this business. She is an amazing woman who is very kind and informative. We only had 6 people on our tour which was very nice.
The tour started at Charco Azul where we went through 3 caves, saw/went under 2 waterfalls, and jumped off two small cliffs. There were beautiful bats, cool formations, and just overall it was a wonderful time.
After that we got a lunch at a local restaurant. It was very yummy and inexpensive.
We finished the day by checking out Indian cave which had beautiful archways and impressive petroglyphs from the Taino people. There was an optional rock climb/shimmy to get into the middle of the cave which was really fun. We were able to see a bat nursing her baby!
Overall an amazing experience and I couldn't recommend her and this tour enough. I would recommend against any tubing tours. We saw them all and the tubing seemed absolutely pointless because the current wasn't even moving.

Best experience, unforgettable place and the best tour of my life. Thank you to Enrique to make of this experience enjoyable and made us to feel as a family and part of Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 if you want to have a great time ask for Enrique .
P.S Javier need to take better pictures 😂

My son (13yo) and I LOVED this tour. Really one of a kind.
For Charco Azul: Swimming through the caves, seeing the fruit bats, the stalactites in the cave and the lush tropical forest outside was like a scene from Jurassic Park.
Joma took a lot of photos which was great because with the water we didn't bring out phones.
For Cuevo del Indio the scenery and the history of the place was really striking.
Joma was a great guide. She answered as wide range of questions about culture, history, geology, biology. Very knowledgeable.
If you have any balance issues you might consider bringing a hiking pole. If you are normally chilly, maybe a shortie wet suit. I was VERY cold by the end of the caving portion.
Overall would highly recommend and if I come back to Puerto Rico would take this tour again.

We had Jose as our tour guide for the Indian caves and charcol azul. He was absolutely amazing. He was very knowledgeable and detailed in his explanations. He bonded very closely with our family. He was willing to take pictures for us. He made sure everything was safe and he was very funny. It felt like he was one of our friends and not a stranger. While we were on the shuttle ride, Jose asked us many questions and was very personable and he seemed like he really wanted to get to know us instead of just leading us on a tour. We will definitely book with this company again.

Wow! What an incredible day this was! I booked this trip when I had a whole day to myself in Puerto Rico and it was absolutely amazing. This beautiful place and the stories about it expertly told by our guide Joma put light in my soul. Truly an unforgettable experience. I felt totally safe as a solo traveler (and afraid of heights!) too under her guidance. For me, just a cell phone dry bag for the river part, and then a towel, some sunscreen, cash for lunch, and a change of clothes in one bag to keep on the bus for after the river portion worked well. For shoes, I just swam in some thin soled tennis shoes with good grip, and they dried out enough after lunch for the second half of the day. I did end up losing my phone in the river cave near the petroglyphs (should have tied it better to my life jacket), but Joma went above and beyond and sent me a link to all the photos she took on her phone that day so I would still have pictures from the trip and let me snap a few too. I loved my experience so much I plan to book this tour again with my partner on my next visit! If you have a day, don't skip this one, and if you find a phone with an yin/yang cat on your trip let me know haha

Fantastic experience. Our tour guide Jose was great. He was very knowledgeable and fun. Be prepared to walk though

Enrique was an experienced guide. He told of the history of Puerto Rico with passion & love of the country. There was a part of the tour with deep water but you felt safe with a life vest & guidance. Was able to cliff dive at 2 spots if you wanted. Enrique engaged the group right away with “music rounds” on the van ride - very unique way to pass the time & group bond.

Our guide Enrique provided great communication prior to and throughout our day. The river caving experience was so unique and interesting. Enrique provided a lot of information about the rivers and plant life we saw. The one thing we wished we knew was that the water temperature is cold. A long sleeve swim shirt would have helped. We both had short sleeve swim shirts and appreciated them. You also need water shoes that you can secure. My husband wore tevas and I wore ryka swim shoes that had a good tread/sole and laced. Both of theses worked well. You will be walking on slippery rocks and trees as well as traversing up and down inclines. You should be fairly fit. I am 62 and an overweight desk jockey. I was the slowest but was able to do everything. Enrique was encouraging and one member of the group helped me with a lending hand.
The lunch stop was wonderful.
The second stop was a lot more challenging, especially if you have a fear of heights or balance issues. Several of us opted to stay on the beach.
The ride to and from was made enjoyable by Enrique. Can't say enough great things about our day and experience!

Our travel guide Enrique was awesome!! The trip was a lot of fun. We went places we would’ve never seen without this travel guide. He also made pitstops for piña colada’s and beer.

Visiting Arenales Charco Azul and Indian Cave with Jose was a highlight of our vacation! We
loved that the tour took us to two exhilarating locations giving us the opportunity to swim through the caves, jump into the river, and climb down to the Indian Cave. Jose was an amazing guide showing us areas we would not have found on our own. Jose was focused on ensuring we had a great experience along with making sure everyone stayed safe. We especially enjoyed learning about Taino culture, local flora and animals, and seeing cave carvings. Stopping for an authentic Puerto Rico lunch was an added bonus. Thank you Jose!

Enrique was the best guide ever, he had so much knowledge about everything and made learning fun. 10 out of 10 would recommend. Amazing job really!!!! And his English was fantastic!!!!

This was our favorite thing we did in Puerto Rico. It had everything- caves, swimming, climbing, history, adventure. Jose made the day perfect. He shared interesting info, gave confidence to those nervous about the terrain, and encouraged everyone to have a wonderful day. He is the best! Loved the whole day.

Jose was the ultimate guide!!! He was extremely informative, curious to anyone with special needs such as myself. He made the trip filled with fun and laughter. A true gentleman. Would recommend him 10000%

We had an amazing time with our guide, Jose! He was very knowledgeable and pointed out so many fascinating facts along the way. Jose went above and beyond to be accommodating, friendly, and helpful to everyone in the group, which truly made the experience memorable for us!

Joe was our Guide and he led my family (2 high schoolers and an elementary kid) through the water canyons and Indian caving experience with perfection. He stopped to point out all the wall carvings, picked up exotic flowers and plants, explained the geology of the land, hand-held us through the challenging parts, and took AMAZING photos AND videos which we will remember forever! What a treat! Best ever - do it!!!

The trip was cancelled but they were able to offer other options but unfortunately they didn’t fit into our schedule

Really fun and easy activity for my family. My 10 year old had no problem climbing boulders, logs and vines and jumping in the river. One portion of the hike was a little tough but other than that it was a fun adventure. Our guide Joe was super friendly.

If you are coming to PR this is one adventure you cannot miss. Our guide Jose was the GOAT, very well versed in the history, geology, botany, and ecology of the island, and there is no way we could have ever had this experience without him leading us. Swimming thru the most gorgeous river, thru caves, and jumping off cliffs was amazing. Then seeing the stunning arches in Arecibo and the ancient Indian caves topped off the adventure. Oh and don’t forget a delicious local lunch! Easily the highlight of our trip. 10 ⭐️ 🙌
Colleen_K, Oct 2025
Enrique is amazing!! He made everyone feel comfortable and welcome before the tour even started by playing a game which lasted for the duration of the day. He interacted with everyone. Safety was ALWAYS his top priority. Would definitely recommend!!

Wooooooow! The trip exceeded my expectations. Everything was amazing, caves, waterfalls, sights. Tour guide Enrique was one of the best I ever had, taking pictures of everyone and being extremely friendly and helpful. 1000000% recommend!

Its a lot of walking ,with out our guide I would not had made it. He went above and beyond. Thank you so much for all your help. Our age made it hard for the trip. We are in our 60s. Recommend it for young people. It is a beautiful sight to see.
Asha_D, Sep 2025
We went on our excursion with Shalomir, they send a reminder the night before outlining what to bring, but closed toed shoes you’re okay with getting soaked is a must! The river part is fine but at the 7 arches there’s a lot of jagged rocks to walk over to get to the Indian cave. Lunch was fantastic, and Shalomir is a fantastic dynamic guide. She really is what make the entire tour so fun. Is an absolute must-do while in PR.
