We had a nice couple of hours in the Pavilion section. It was calm and we could fully relax. It was a rainy day, which I’d say is perfect to soak in a hot pool outside, overlooking the lake.

I am not sure if it was my package but It was underwhelming experience to say the least. Definitely something that could have been better had there been some explanation. I partially blame viator for not being clear in expectations upfront. They should have said this is self pace with no explantion.

The Pavilion Pools are designed as a self-guided, self-paced geothermal soaking experience, allowing guests to move freely between the named (acidic or alkaline) pools and soak at their own rhythm rather than follow a hosted or guided format. We understand, however, that this may not always be clear in advance, particularly if expectations differ.

I just realized I forgot to write a review of this experience in March 2025. This was amazing - we loved every minute we spent here. If we lived in Rotorua, we'd buy an annual pass, as we heard some people do. The different pools were so relaxing - a wonderful experience!

Very relaxing environment, the various pools are most enjoyable with different alkaline and acid based compositions and varied temperatures. Great view over lake Rotarua and the hills in the background

I ended up driving there from Auckland. If I had to do it again I would of stayed in the town as there were many other things to do. The pools however were great. For 8 pools I could not feel the difference but I had fun relaxing.

This was a great experience for our group. The facility is clean and very well organized and laid out. There are several pools of varying temperatures. It was raining the day we were there so we weren’t able to see much of the lake, but it was still very enjoyable. It’s 5 minutes from town, so super easy to get to. We had a reservation for a specific time, but we were able to arrive at the time that worked best for us.

This is an excellent location to unwind and enjoy the fantastic geothermal baths at this venue. We all really felt revitalised and relaxed after a couple of hours in the spa baths. Great experience.

Bring your own towel if you can & leave valuables at home.
Very relaxing but waters are very warm ,upto 41 degrees.

The Polynesian Spa offered us a very calm and relaxing soak in the natural hot springs of the area. We didn’t do any of the private tubs or spa treatments but felt like the public pools was a nice bang for your buck. Views of the lake are really nice! There’s a public shower you can use afterward and a small cafe as well. You can rent a towel for pretty cheap so need to bring one.

This was a cool experience to have! When you book, your reservation is all day so don’t worry too much about time of your booking. The views of the lake were very beautiful. The sulfur smell was very strong.

Great affordable hot spa experience. Hired towels (2 for $9.95). Didn’t need a locker as sections to leave belongings in containers-seemed pretty safe.

Multiple thermal pools of varying temps, half of them are acidic, the other half alkaline. You can rent towels and swimsuits if needed. Complimentary baskets for your things are available poolside, or you can rent a locker.

It was a great experience, the view is amazing, the atmosphere is very respectful and calm, and everything seemed clean / hygienic, despite the fact that you’re sharing hot pools with strangers. I do believe there should be a mandatory pre shower before you enter the pools, but other than that all great! Felt very relaxing!

This was a lovely experience. I went after a day of travel and a massage and it really helped me to relax. I am not sure of the waters are magic, but I truly felt better after my soak. Overall great facilities and staff, a must for people taking trip to Rotorua.
I really appreciated that this adult area was quiet and peaceful, but also met warm and friendly people who were happy to quietly chat about life and the world.
