Itinerary
Your tour begins with pickup from your Quito hotel in time for a morning or afternoon departure (depending on option selected). Traveling by private vehicle, set out on the around 45-minute drive to the Mitad del Mundo – the ‘Middle of the World’ – to see the famous Equator line. While you’re there, visit the Intiñan Museum, where you can pose for photos on the ‘equator line’, learn more about Ecuador’s indigenous people, and watch a demonstration of the Coriolis Effect.
A short drive from the Mitad del Mundo is the Pululahua Crater, one of only two inhabited craters in the world. Here, you’ll have chance to visit the small town and shop for handicrafts and souvenirs, then drive to the top of the crater, a wildlife haven shrouded in cloud forest.
After taking in the views, tuck into a delicious empanada before setting out on the return journey. Return to Quito where your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel. Please note, transportation from outside the Urban Zone is available for an additional cost.

Ivan picked us up promptly to embark on our visit to Intiñan Museum on the Equator Line. We first stopped at the Pululahua Geobiological Reserve where we enjoyed beautiful, sweeping views of the Pululahua crater. We were offered some chocolate cake and coffee that were fine. We then made our way to the Intiñan Museum where we met our museum guide. The museum guide was engaging and provided great information about local indigenous culture and the displayed some interesting effects of the equator with some interactive experiments. I would clarify that despite the photos posted this doesn’t NOT include the more tourist monument on all the souvenirs.
While Ivan was welcoming, kind, and provided interesting information, this tour, when compared to others we took on our trip, was quite a bit shorter in duration and significantly more expensive(at the base price from the urban zone). For the same price we had a full day in Mindo city with several activities included in the cost.

Guillermo was a fun friendly guide, the volcano crater was pretty much covered in fog and mist but made for some cool pics. The equator museum was very interesting. Guillermo took us to a tiny mom and pop place for empanadas and other local food after the museum. Fun morning!

Giovany was an excellent and safe driver and very informative as we drove to Pulalahua Crater. At the crater, he told us about the history of the indigenous people who live there and how the volcano is active. He had more info to share as we went to the Intiñian museum, where the equator actually is (confirmed by GPS). Our guide Arnold was also excellent and provided a lot of information in an interesting way and had a good sense of humor. He demonstrated several experiments related to the equator, like the water spinning as it drains, egg balancing, walking a straight line, and pushing up on someone else pushing your hands down. We went back to Giovany after the museum and stopped by Mitad del Mundo for some photos, then headed back to Quito and stopped by an empanada place for a snack. Giovani even helped us practice our Spanish! Overall great excursion… highly recommend!

Had a great time at Puluahua with an incredible view of the crater there. Then Telmo took us to the Museum of the Mitad del Mundo, the highest point on the equator and we got to do some amazing experiments! We had an empanada stop and really enjoyed our day! Telmo was very informative and kind. So glad we took this tour!

We did this tour with Angel. He was very hospitable and professional. He could converse in English also very well. The experience at the equator was a lot of fun. So many interesting experiments! We couldn’t do Puluhua because of bad weather.
