This is my third time here and my third time doing buggy and atv excursions. Every company except for the Flintstone buggy company, does the exact same thing. This excursion should be $20-25 per person. The people that try to get you to shop are getting worse and worse. Much like the USA, DR needs to do better with paying their employees so they are not out here begging. Its annoying. My main concern was, I booked the 11am excursion. When Richard texted me to confirm, he said he would arrive for pickup up at 10:50. I expressed my concerns, bc 11am the excursion starts, he then stated, it would start at 11:30. Pickup was late and we arrived back from our excursion, pickup left for about 15 minutes. I was irritated, because at least you can do is be punctual or let me know what you are doing. I would recommend this experience, but not if its $40+ dollars
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Thank you for sharing your experience. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience with the schedule and punctuality. Your feedback is very important to us, and we will use it to improve our service. We appreciate your recommendation and hope to provide you with a better experience in the future.

The places we drove around and the beaches are littered with trash unfortunately. I have never seen such little respect to environment. And another constant annoyance are the vendors, which in this case were part of this excursion, who grabbed my son and put iguana and parrot into his hands and took photos of him and than suggested I tipped them 100 USD! Absolutely outrages. Then they also wanted 60 USD for photos of us during the excursion, I declined, but they did not respected and kept pushing till I negotiated 40 USD, which still was not worth it. I took ATV in PR and Aruba and I was never this aggressively pushed to purchase photos, besides it was always complimentary. This was my first time and last time in Domenica Republic, quite disappointed with the hospitality and the environment.

Incorrect Pickup Time
We were given the wrong pickup time, which led to unnecessary confusion and delays at the start of the day.
2. Lack of Communication and Delay
There was no communication from the tour operator prior to the excursion, and the tour itself was delayed by two hours without any notification or explanation.
3. No Pre-Tour Equipment Guidance
We received no information in advance about the equipment or clothing needed for the tour, which left several participants unprepared for the conditions.
4. No Instruction on Buggy Operation
At no point were we given safety instructions or a demonstration on how to operate the buggies. This was a serious oversight, especially given the nature of the activity.
5. Delayed Return Drop-Off
After the tour ended, we were forced to wait an additional 45 minutes due to another family delaying the timeline. This disruption could have been avoided with clearer expectations or better staff guidance.
Response from Host, Aug 2025
Hi [paul],
Thank you for taking the time to provide such detailed feedback. We sincerely apologize for the many issues you encountered during your experience with us. What you described is not the level of service we aim to provide, and we truly regret the frustration and inconvenience it caused.
We take full responsibility for the confusion with the pickup time and the lack of prior communication. We understand how important clear information is — both before and during the tour — and we’re reviewing our processes to ensure all guests receive timely updates and instructions moving forward.
Regarding the lack of equipment and safety guidance, we agree that this is a critical part of any off-road activity. Your comments have been shared directly with our team, and we are already implementing improvements in our pre-tour briefings and communication to ensure every guest feels safe and prepared.
We're also sorry for the delay after the tour ended. While sometimes unexpected delays happen, we recognize this could have been handled more efficiently, and we’re taking steps to better manage return times and group coordination in the future.
We appreciate your honesty — feedback like yours is invaluable in helping us improve. We hope you'll give us another opportunity to deliver the high-quality adventure that we’re known for.
Warm regards,
JJC Tours Team

did not look like the pictures. it was a constant stop and go, we were going 10min the whole time, we didn’t get muddy at all, and your at each stop for ab 15min
Response from Host, Aug 2025
Hi [Maddis],
Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear that the experience didn’t meet your expectations. We always aim to provide an exciting and authentic adventure, and we regret that the tour felt too slow-paced and didn’t match the imagery you were expecting.
The safety of our guests is a top priority, which sometimes means adjusting speed or timing based on conditions. That said, we take your comments seriously and will review how we can improve the experience and better set expectations through our photos and descriptions.
We appreciate you giving us a try and hope you'll consider visiting again in the future for a different adventure.
Best regards,
JJC Tours Team

They picked us up from the hotel (30 min after the excursion was supposed to start).got there and STILL waited an hour and a half before we started. they charge everyone different prices for glasses and bandanas. Charged my mom 5 each and the other people with us 10 each. Tried to get us to pay 80 for pics they took but 50 to the other lady. When we went to taste the chocolate it was a small drop of hot chocolate mixture in a cup, it was more of a shack they took you to on a back road & upcharging on everything there. Man said $15 for one small shot glass. Stayed at the beach for 20 min and then taken to the cave where they get you to buy more stuff that’s overpriced. They told my mom $50 for all her stuff then tried to run her card for way more and luckily it declined it. This was not worth the money or headaches.

This was my first time to drive a dune buggy, although I'd driven several other offroad type of vehicles in the past. Alot of the negatives of this tour revolve around the time spent at each location. They are upfront with how long you will spend at each and it matches with the description. There seemed to be several other tours doing the same routes we were on which was fine except for the cenote with was quiet the clustered mess if you wanted to do anything at the actual cenote. The beach was quiet and gorgeous and the chocolate/coffee location was decent. People will try to get you to buy something at each but if you say no politely they will move along....nothing different from any other tourist trap if you've ever been to one. The actual Dune buggies were not as cool looking as some others I saw but nobody broke down and they were fun to drive. My particular buggy had the shoddiest brakes which I tried to bring to their attention but it was ignored. Luckily I knew how to maneuver with this maintenance shortcoming but fyi if you find yourself behind the wheel. All in all this took just under a half day from pickup to drop off and I (and my wife) were happy to have done it and see some of Punta Cana from outside the resort.
Response from Host, Aug 2025
Hi [Ramon],
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughtful and detailed review. We're really glad to hear that you and your wife enjoyed the overall experience, especially the beautiful beach and the chance to explore more of Punta Cana beyond the resort.
We appreciate your feedback regarding the time spent at each stop and the crowding at the cenote — it's true that these popular spots can get busy, and we're always looking for ways to improve flow and guest comfort. Your comments about the buggy brakes are very important to us, and we sincerely apologize for not addressing your concern on the spot. We’ve shared this directly with our maintenance team to prevent future issues and ensure all vehicles are safe and responsive.
We're happy to know that, despite a few hiccups, you both had a good time and would recommend the experience. Thank you again for your honesty — it helps us grow and serve future guests better.
Warm regards,
JJC Tours Team
Victoria_T, Jul 2025
Firstly these buggies are extremely old and awful, leather seats that are scorching hot so make sure you have enough cold water with you to cool the seat between stops. The buggy got a flat then I was accused of crashing the buggy even though there was a guide directly behind me that would have saw if we crashed. They ran behind schedule so each stop was extremely rushed were lucky if we even got 15 minutes at each stop which sucked because the last stop was a beautiful but very crowded beach and if you want to enjoy the water don’t let them seat you and just go straight to the shore and enjoy the water. And if you’ve ever been real off roading you will most definitely be disappointed at the slow pace of the driving because they know the buggies are the absolute worst.
Response from Host, Jul 2025
Hi [save your money ],
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're truly sorry to hear that your experience didn’t meet expectations. We always aim to offer a safe, exciting, and well-organized adventure, and it’s clear that we missed the mark for you in some areas.
We appreciate your comments about the condition of the buggies and timing at the stops — your input helps us identify where we can improve. Regarding the incident with the flat tire, we understand how frustrating that must have been, and we're reviewing the situation carefully with our team to avoid misunderstandings like this in the future.
Despite this, we hope you'll consider giving us another chance in the future. Thank you again for your honesty — it helps us grow and serve our guests better.
Warm regards,

Waited for two hours to actually start driving the UTVs. We missed our dinner reservations just waiting . For the amount of time spent we should have been offered some type of food.
Response from Host, Jul 2025
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We sincerely apologize for the delay you experienced before starting your UTV adventure. This is not the level of service we strive to provide, and we understand how frustrating it must have been—especially with missed dinner plans.
We are currently reviewing our scheduling and coordination process to ensure future tours run on time and more smoothly. Your suggestion about offering food during extended wait times is very helpful and will be taken into consideration.
We truly appreciate your feedback and hope you’ll consider giving us another opportunity to provide you with the full, fun experience we’re known for.

Hi [ KATE ],
Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re happy to hear you enjoyed the buggy ride overall, but we’re very sorry to hear about the issues with the transportation. Poor communication and a long wait are never acceptable, and we understand how frustrating that must have been.
We’re already working to improve coordination and clarity regarding pick-up locations to avoid situations like this in the future. Your feedback is truly appreciated, and we hope to have the chance to give you a smoother, more enjoyable experience next time.

The excursion, itself, was a lot of fun. The guides were well organized, and friendly, as well as knowledgeable. The issue I had was that Viator did not accurately represent the start time. The start time noted was 11 AM. I received a call at a little after 10 AM from the shuttle service that they were already at the hotel and that 11 AM was the start of the event. In the notes regarding the shuttle Viator did not appropriately annotate those details. The fault of this lies with Viator and not the service provider who did a great job.
Response from Host, Jul 2025
Hi [ anthon ],
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience! We're very happy to hear that you enjoyed the excursion and that our team made it a fun and well-organized adventure.
We truly appreciate your feedback regarding the communication from Viator. We're sorry for the confusion with the pickup time and completely understand how that could have been stressful. The timing listed on Viator refers to the start of the activity itself, and the pickup usually happens earlier depending on the hotel location. Unfortunately, this detail is sometimes not clearly displayed on their platform, but we are actively working with them to ensure this is better communicated to future guests.
We're very grateful that you recognized our team’s efforts on the ground, and we hope to welcome you again on another adventure soon!
Warm regards,

Our experience didn’t start off very good. We stopped to pick up other travelers and the driver sat for over 25 minutes waiting for them. This is too long to wait for anyone when we were all given a specific time for pick up. The driver had music playing extremely loud the rest of the way to the site. Once at the site we had to wait another 30-40 minutes before we could get started.
We are not naive to the fact that we’re on “Dominican Time” down here, but we’re also on our family vacation and don’t expect to be spending an excessive amount of time waiting for people who can’t be on time.
Despite the issues above, the buggy ride was fun, the stop at Macao Beach was nice (beautiful beach and refreshing water), and the cave diving was cool.
The buggy’s were definitely well used. A couple times we were sure if we were going to be able to steer through the rough terrain - but honestly, that kinda made the experience more thrilling!
I appreciate that our guide stopped to make sure all of the group was with us, but the amount of times he stopped was a bit excessive. There were quite a few times where 1-2 other tour groups passed us while he had us stopped on the side of the road.
I would recommend this tour to others, but would suggest they read all reviews to determine if the few negative aspects are things they are willing to overlook.
Response from Host, Jun 2025
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us. We truly value your feedback, as it helps us improve.
We’re very sorry to hear that the start of your excursion was not smooth. We understand how important your vacation time is, and delays—whether from late pickups or extended waiting times—are frustrating. We’ll be reviewing this internally to see how we can better manage our scheduling and ensure a more efficient check-in and start time for all guests.
We’re glad to hear that, despite the rocky start, you enjoyed the buggy ride, Macao Beach, and the cave experience. These are highlights we’re proud of, and we’re happy they added some fun and excitement to your day.
Your comments about the condition of the buggies and the frequent stops are also noted. We’re currently working on improving our fleet and refining our guide protocols to strike the right balance between safety and flow.
Thank you again for your honesty and for recommending the tour to others. We hope to have the chance to provide you with a smoother and even more enjoyable adventure next time!
Warm regards,
The JJC Tours Team

Very much value for money as only paid $40 per person, after waiting for an hour for other hotels and groups to arrive we set out at midday! Coffee / Cigar / Cocoa place was ok, headed to the beach where 5 drinks cost $70’s so watch out if ordering there, the beach was lovely though! The cave was a little packed and not sure it was worth it as you can’t really enjoy that part as you are swiftly moved on. The buggies were in good condition, but you can’t go overly fast or we couldn’t as had 20 buggies in our group and it was stop / start constantly. The tour finished just after 4pm so as said definitely more than the 3 hours you pay for. Probably needs a little more off road to be more enjoyable.

Pros and Cons of this tour:
PROS:
If you like or love getting dirty on off road Buggys this is the tour for you.
CONS:
1. You have alot stops were you'll feel you pressured to buy products from every stop.
2. There were alot of kids with flowers and bottles of water begging for money.
3. The van that picked us up broke down in the middle of the highway.
4.The tour operators were ghetto the music and the drinking showing off for the patrons on the tour.
5. The operators pressure you to leave good reviews and mention their names and watch over you while you do it.
Jacob_M, May 2025
This is a great tour definitely enjoyable.
You get picked up from the pick up point and taken to a ranch where the buggies are. There is a little store, where you can buy bananas, goggles, water, sunscreen and some curios.
You will sign a waiver and be assigned a buggies.
You will get muddy from the very beginning.
The tour guided were great and did a great job getting us all through. After driving for about 15 mins you will stop at a place where you can try mamajuana, chocolate, green tea and coffee.
Afterwards you will continue for about 20 more mins to Macao beach. Where you spend some time. The beach is beautiful and the people are great. The tour will continue to the caves.
Pretty crowded here but very cool.
We wore flip flops and were fine.
Didn't have to wear helmets, we wore baseball caps. Eye protection of some kind is needed as mud is flying everywhere.
Definitely worth the time. Plan for about 5
5 hours from pick up to drop off
Carmie_G, May 2025
* Meeting the guide at the security gate of the hotel was a bit of a challenge as the gate is not close to the resort. So be aware of how long it will take you to get to the security gate, we were a little late.
* The spots that the tour takes you are strategic for up sales. Lots of pressure to purchase goods.
* The excursion itself was FUN! Lots of mud puddles, cool refreshing freshwater cave, and beautiful sandy beach.
*UP SELLING - all spots were nice, however, at the beach they drop you at a restaurant to purchase food, at the cave you are dropped in a market area, at the "Typical Dominican Home" it was more like a store with high pressured sales staff.
* I found it frustrating that even though we booked an English speaking tour, the guide had to explain everything twice because the group was half English and half Spanish, making the explanations at each stop take longer, giving you a little less time at each location.
* Guides were friendly, and polite.
* At the end, they had over 200 photos of our group, which were available for purchase at a price of $20 per image! However, you can get a great deal if you take all images. Let me tell you these are amazing photos and the photographers did a FANTASTIC job capturing all the moments of the excursion.
All in all this was a good excursion, great to get off the resort and experience a little Dominican culture and FUN!
BEWARE: Everywhere you turn someone is wanting your money...from the very first person you come in contact with... the beach is open to the public, so there are locals trying to make money from you by putting a bird on your shoulder and bracelets on your wrist without your permission. Just be aware of your surroundings and be firm on your "NO" and they will typically respect your wishes. Don't get me wrong, if you WANT a picture with a parrot on your shoulder and your willing to give the guy a couple bucks for it, then that is totally ok and your call. It was not something I appreciated.
I've done this tour in the past with a different tour guide, and it was very different than this one. This seemed to be all about the up sales. I don't mind a little of that but I have a limit. This went past my limit.
Response from Host, May 2025
Hi [Carmie ],
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your detailed feedback with us. We truly appreciate both your positive comments and the constructive criticism.
We’re happy to hear that you had fun during the tour—especially with the mud puddles, the refreshing freshwater cave, and the beautiful beach. We’re also glad you found our guides to be friendly and that you enjoyed the photos captured by our photographers. They do work hard to make sure every moment is memorable!
That said, we’re sorry to hear that you felt pressured at some of the stops. While we do partner with local communities to offer a more authentic cultural experience, we understand that the level of sales interaction can feel overwhelming at times. Your feedback is extremely helpful and we’ll definitely review these aspects to improve the experience for future guests.
We also appreciate your comments about the bilingual explanation times. We always aim to balance both languages efficiently, but we understand how this may have impacted your time at each stop. We’ll take that into consideration as we continue to refine our tours.
Your opinion matters to us and helps us grow. Thank you again for choosing JJC Tours, and we hope to have the chance to welcome you back for an even better experience next time.

wear clothes/shores you don’t mind throwing out at the end & be prepared to spend 5h there. we had a blast, it just wasn’t off roading lol it was mudding. or just dune buggying. you will stop at a plantation to taste coffee/cocoa & then stop at a public beach for a snack. be careful if you’ve never driven a dune buggy before, the steering wheels are very touchy
Alicia_H, May 2025
Had an amazing experience. Exactly the type of adventure we were looking for! Everything was exceptional. Highly recommend! Would do it again!
Bonita_B, Apr 2025
Fun experience and our tour guide was good! He it as safe and a fun tour, we definitely will be back with friends and family.
Rachel_L, Mar 2025
What a blast! You and all of your things will get super muddy! We did not bring towels. We wore bathing suits under clothes and flip flops or crocs. We only took our phones and money in plastic lanyards. Being water bottles from your hotel. They do have food and drinks for purchase all along the way though. If you do bring a bag or backpack, bring a plastic bag to put it inside. It will fit on the floor of your buggy but will be filthy unless you put it in a bag. Coca Cola was our tour guide and he was so much fun. We were a family of four and our kids were 14 and 10. I took about $50 cash with me but also being your credit card. They take Apple Pay, cards, cash app, Venmo, PayPal, etc.. at all the stops along the way. We bought the photo package because all the pictures turned out so good. Our driver picked us up at our hotel at 11 and we returned about 3:30. The beach stop was gorgeous. The farm where they grow cacao and coffee was also great. We didn’t swim in the Venice because you literally jump in and then get out. Not really any place to put your things except on a rock. We would definitely recommend.
Laura_H, Mar 2025
BOOK IT!!! It was sooooo much muddy fun!!! The caves were super cool, the chocolate and cigar making was also a super cool experience! Highly recommend this tour!

Went with the kids and they enjoyed themselves. The roads are very rugged and we didn’t get muddy, but honestly did not mind. The kids really enjoyed themselves and the beach- the water is beautiful and not too rough. The instructors were very attentive.
