Pico Mountain is the tallest mountain in Portugal and can be very difficult to climb, especially for newcomers. On this full-day outing, climb the mountain and sleeping volcano with a professional, certified Pico Mountain guide belonging to the Association of Azores Mountain Guides. It’s a 5-mile (8 kilometers) hike to the top at 7700 feet (2350 meters), with your guide watching out for the proper routes and your safety and well-being.

- Travelers should have a strong physical fitness level
- Participants should not have gone diving 24 hours before the climb.
- It is mandatory to present yourself with proper mountain boots and equipment suitable for the activity. Failure to meet these requirements may result in exclusion from the climb, including by decision of the Mountain House, without the right to a refund

We were not able to complete the hike because of weather on the day that we had scheduled, but the Tripix Guide Matteo offered to provide the hike a different day. We decided to not do the hike because the clouds/snow were covering the top, and Tripix was so kind to allow us a refund of the tour even though the agreement would have given them the right to keep the money. We highly recommend this tour and Tripix to everyone and will be coming back to Pico to book a tour with them because of their fantastic customer service.

The guide was helpful in navigating certain unclear sections ; the hike is strenuous enough its nice not to have to worry about navigation and going the wrong way.
The guide was cheerful and a good guy and pushed us when needed to do the the hike in the time.

It was tiring but very nice. The endless and very tiring descent. Bruno and Mateo were always patient and helpful and explained the next steps well. Going in a group lengthens the duration of the trek a bit, but having a guide is very useful to not get lost in fog and to know what awaits us.
