The island is beautiful and well worth visiting.
The ferry ride was fast and comfortable. Everything went smoothly.
My only complaint is about the bikes. They don’t have gears, which makes it very difficult to ride them around the island and limited how fast snd far I could go. If I went again I’d hire a bike once I reached the island, not through this company.

Take time to enjoy the beaches..we rushed thinking the cycle would take longer than it actually did.
Elizabeth_Z, Mar 2026
The bikes are not great quality and I had a problem with mine. Bring a rucksack as no basket to put a bag.

We booked a Rottnest Island ferry and bike hire package through Viator for $476 for three adults, two children, and one infant. The booking allowed us to include an infant but provided no option to add a bike seat or trailer. On arrival, bikes were only provided for the adults and children, leaving no safe way for our infant to travel.
We had to hire an additional bike and trailer from another hire centre for $60 and spent over an hour resolving the issue, reducing our limited time on the island.
I have tried calling and emailing Viator since February with no response. Due to the lack of customer support, I would give 0 stars if possible.

Excellent trip with a comfortable boat ride, reasonable bike, and great staff.
Very hot weather with minimal shade on the island.
Bring lots of sun screen!

What a fantastic place. Amazing beaches crystal clear, turquoise and aquamarine seas, white sand beaches. What's not to like. Bikes were ok but could do with a service, gear changes were decidedly iffy. Ferry ride was great, a bit choppy on the way back. Open seats at the back of the boat were soaked.

Fantastic cruise - great commentary and info from Malcolm, the guide for the day.
Bikes were okay. Fantastic day at Rottnest. Thank you!

The ferry from the city is really long it took us 2 hours on the way back. If you are thinking of going go via Fremantle as it’s quicker and only takes a 30min ferry trip. My bike was also missing a stand and not the best quality. Overall we enjoyed ourselves the island is very beautiful but the duration of the ferry and the conditions of the bicycles given weren’t ideal.

Superb island , use the bikes to see the island and see the quokas . Ferry staff very pleasant . Excellent thing to do
fiona_l, Jan 2026
So easy turn up with your voucher to ferry office to redeem your ticket. Well organised getting everyone on the ferry. Get your bike off ferry and enjoy your day
Paul_N, Jan 2026
The bikes and the terrain were easy to do, even for people who rarely cycle. Getting off the beaten track definitely was thw most enjoyable - the busy beaches were definitely worth avoiding.

Rottnest Island was AMAZING. We had a blast at the beaches and with the quokkas. But this is about the tour operator and that left a lot to be desired.
The ferry ride was fine. The waters were choppy about 25 minutes of the trip each way, and a kind ferry rep was helping people and keeping everyone safe.
The bikes were trash. Loose steering which felt incredibly unsafe; non working kick stand; misshapen bottle holder that wouldn’t hold anything; no basket. If we had cobbled together one bike from the working pieces of the two we had, we still wouldn’t have had a fully functioning bike.
If something goes wrong, I address it in the moment, allowing the party to fix the situation so that I don’t have to leave a bad review. When I returned to the bike area an hour after picking them up, I explained the problem and the woman who was there said, “okay” and just put the bikes away. She didn’t offer us better bikes, or a partial refund, or even put the faulty bikes aside for someone to look at. She just returned them to inventory like it happened all the time. Which leads me to believe it does. I was so incensed, I just walked away.

Fabulous. Not to be missed. A wonderful memory. I would suggest to future travellers to take fly spray.

I left from and was dropped off in Perth. The ride down the swan river is calm, but, if you get motion sickness, take Dramamine because you will get sick on the ocean. The island is beautiful, but harder to bicycle around than I anticipated. If you decide to go to the west end, take plenty of water. At least 2 liters. Worth the price.
Lisa_M, Sep 2025
Great day out, hired bikes and cycled part of the island. Had a dip in the crystal clear sea and saw the very cute quokka’s
Martin_M, Aug 2025
The bikes supplied are shocking. My handlebar was bent meaning my left hand was about a foot below where my right hand was. In addition I could only engage two gears and they slipped. Also the brakes are close to non existent. It's lucky there isn't much traffic but the hills were hard work with the bike they supplied
Misato_K, Jun 2025
We really enjoyed this tour.
We would be able to meet Quokka in the wild, and it easy to go to some beautiful places. I recommend that you.

Really enjoyable day, starting with a cruise along the Swan River. Collected my bike and snorkelling gear as soon as we arrived and headed off to explore. The water over white sand was beautiful. Plenty of quokkas - especially anywhere they might be able to pinch a snack
Steve_H, Apr 2025
We had an awesome day. The trip out to the island was great (calm seas) and the day on the island was amazing. Just one item, if you hire a bike check the gears work before heading out. Other than that there is plenty to do, see and eat & drink. Quokkas are very sneaky, watch your food.

Turned up to the Island, had back and forth with the operator about bike sizes for kids. I provided height of my youngest, the operator didn’t put a kids bike on the boat. Adult bikes were way too big for an 8YO at 135cm. Tried to find a resolution, staff in the end didn’t care and walked away leaving us without a bike. Asked for a refund. Didn’t get it over a week later.
Operator was Rottnest Express, I’d suggest using a different ferry operator and hire your bike from the hire store on the island who have much better quality bikes, much better service and seem to be cheaper.
If you do go through this operator and have a kid <140cm and over 7YO beware of bike size. They don’t care. They refer to their website which you don’t really see before you book through Viator.

Island was absolutely beautiful. Loved all wildlife especially quokkas. Easy to cycle around fabulous beaches and vistas. Only problem was the commentary on the swan river was far too quiet, could only make out a few words. Also quality of bike was poor with gears not working.
Juan_D, Apr 2025
Do not rent bicycles with the company Rottnest Express. The bikes are of very poor quality. They are not maintained and can cause an accident.
Kewal_P, Mar 2025
It's outdoors so definitely make note of the weather and one needs to walk to bike a lot. Please consider that while booking for this l.
Serena_P, Mar 2025
Excellent experience good ferry to Rottnest, bikes and snorkel hire v efficient. Weather better than we were expecting and we enjoyed our cycle to West End and the snorkeling in Little Salmon Bay
Anna_K, Mar 2025
We booked this trip for my birthday. We enjoyed the day very much. Thank you for the perfect trip. It was awesome❤️
marian_f, Mar 2025
Good ferry trip but the bikes were awful. Supposed to have 3 gears but only had 1. Brakes faulty. Very uncomfortable saddle. Sealink bikes looked newer and better maintained.
Steven_T, Feb 2025
The Island is GORGEOUS. I could stayed there a week. We normally ride e-bikes BUT the bikes we rode were pretty easy. I’m 70 and love biking and had no problems on the hills. What fun we had at a stunning island.
Roz_S, Feb 2025
Efficient check in and ferry left promptly. Bikes and gear were given to us upon arrival. All good, no complaints
Daniel_F, Feb 2025
The Ferry and Bike pick up were very easy and good managed.
On the Island you had plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful nature and go for a swim.
