Your Rottnest Island day trip starts in either Perth or Fremantle—depending on option selected when booking. From Perth, hop aboard your ferry for a ride down the Swan River, enjoying views of the upscale homes and yacht clubs that line the shore. When you get to Fremantle, where the river dumps into the Indian Ocean, pick up more passengers for the ride across the ocean to Rotto (as the island is referred to by locals).
When you arrive, embark on your thrilling high-speed wildlife cruise that takes you around the island’s many isolated bays and beaches, where you can watch for sea life like dolphins, seals, and birds. After your adventure cruise, you are free to spend the afternoon at your leisure to explore the island however you wish. Rent a bike to travel down the car-free roads, go swimming or snorkeling in the turquoise water, or search for quokkas, the small marsupials who live on the island. Activities, entrance fees, rentals, food and drinks are at your own expense—simply choose what suits your budget best.

This fantastic boat ride was a heap of fun and allowed us to see the coastline of the whole island and beautiful wildlife we wouldn’t have seen otherwise. Highly, highly recommend this tour.

The ferry crossing was quite leisurely, with a stop at Freemantle to pick up more passengers, then faster to Rottnest. The optional speedboat trip around the island was the highlight of the trip, fast and wild over the waves, with commentary at the bays around the coast. I'd definitely recommend it, unless you suffer from sea sickness.

I recently went on the Rottnest Adventure Boat Tour and while I was really looking forward to the experience, the weather didn’t quite cooperate. It was a windy day, which unfortunately meant we couldn’t see all the planned attractions, and the ride itself was quite bumpy at times.
We also didn’t spot any whales during the tour — which I understand can’t be guaranteed — but it was still a bit disappointing, especially since that was something we were really hoping for. We did get to see a dolphin briefly, which was nice, but overall the marine life sightings were limited.

The adventure boat was fantastic. Professional and knowledgable staff- we saw seals, ospreys and dolphins. A really wonderful trip for the family. Bike hire was also easy and efficient.

Oh my - PLEASE book this trip. It was absolutely fantastic. All staff were amazing - we saw dolphins, stingray, seals and as it was whale migrating season, the guy took us right out to see those, which we did, along with their calves. The boat ride is such good fun and due to good weather we managed to go around the whole island. An AMAZING experience!

Best tour I’ve done in a long time!
The boat ride itself was so fun! It was fast and had a lot of movement, but there were seats available for people that wanted less motion.
Amazing wildlife sights, we saw whales, dolphins, seals, and osprey!
Great guides with a huge amount of knowledge!
A little pricey but worth every dollar in my opinion. Definitely recommend!

We had the most amazing time on this tour, highlight being the adventure boat ride! Lachie(LOK-ee), or skipper, was sensational. We got to see whales, dolphins, seals, Australian sea lion. The trip back on the ferry was at 5:00pm, perfect time to capture the beautiful sunset. The team is very helpful and insightful and make every effort to make your trip memorable.

Due to rain, the adventure boat ride was cancelled. However, the ferry ride and the bike hire were smooth. The staff at rottnest express is friendly and would provide you with maps. They also have a small canteen to eat light snacks.
Rottnest Island's beauty is mesmerizing. I am happy with the travel.

The adventure boat ride was an absolute highlight. We saw seals, dolphins and osprey and our guide Jess was very entertaining and informative. Jodie the captain did some thrilling moves with the boat that kept us all entertained. We also had perfect weather for the trip. Thoroughly recommended.

Don’t miss this tour at Rottnest, it was so enjoyable. We had 2 lovely ladies. We toured around the island, we seen plenty of bird life and seals. The blue water and rock formations were very beautiful. Our lady skipper gave us such a fun thrill ride, jet speed over the waves, swirling and top it all off three sixties. It was just like a thrill ride at a theme park, everyone had fun tossing up their arms in the air, enjoying every minute. Thanks

The place was easy to find. Car parking was available, although probably best to get there 15-20 mins before 9am and boarding. You do have to exchange your paperwork at the temporary cabin beforehand to obtain the correct ticket. Rottnest was a holiday and marine paradise. Workers are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Seeing Quokka’s up close and in their natural habitat was a shear pleasure. For our family, we included the high speed boat ride, which was the highlight of the whole day and the right decision. Captain Luke and host Malcolm were excellent throughout. Providing safety advice and general information. You do need to be aware that the ride is weather dependent and there are no guarantees in seeing any wildlife - we toured the whole island at high speeds between different keys areas - saw Australian Seals, Osprey and a pod of Dolphins. Absolutely brilliant. We had paid for the lunch option at Frankie’s and this too was excellent. The restaurant does gets busy at certain times and do we went a little earlier than that quoted on the ticket slip and they accommodated our party immediately on arrival. We had approximately 2-3 hours to relax on the beach, but there was sufficient time to do some walking, biking or take the bus tour around the island as alternatives. A fantastic experience from start to finish and well worth the price.
