I should have worn shorts...

Katherine_B, Mar 2026
I should have worn shorts with deep pockets to have quick access to my phone/camera whilst cycling. Should have checked wind direction to determine what direction to ride to minimize headwinds. Also should have had some aeroguard for my face to help minimize fly swarm around my face. Other than these details it was a great day and cycling was definitely a way to see the island!!

Response from Host, Mar 2026

Sounds like a few challenges with riding on the island but overall a great day, thanks so much Katherine!

Great day out

rachel_m, Mar 2026
Crew were very pleasant and informative. Bike was comfy for the island journey. Good idea to carry food/lunch if doing full island cycle. Cafe at West end offer coffee, cold drinks and toasties

Response from Host, Mar 2026

What a great day exploring the island by bike. We agree, always carry water and ideally a snack or lunch when heading out from the main settlement.

Rotto 4th Feb 26

Roy_H, Feb 2026
Very pleasant cruise down the Swan although the commentary was indistinct. Once on Rottnest one of the bikes kept missing gears, although the overall ride and scenery were excellent. Would recommend.

Response from Host, Feb 2026

Thanks for your feedback Roy. Sounds like you overall enjoyed your experience with us, apologies regarding the missing gear, that must have been slightly annoying for you! We will make our bike maintenance team aware of this.

Day trip to Rottnest - Boat and Bike hire

Neil_W, Dec 2025
Staff on the boat were great and everything was on time. I had the boat and bike hire option. Bike pick up is easy, they are just there when you get off the boat. I cycled around the whole island approximately 22km. Some hills and wind to contend with but can be done in the day with lots of time to spare if bike riding is something you do regularly. The bike option is great as you can stop at any of the beautiful beaches and jump into cool off. As with any hire bikes, check the tyre pressure and brakes before you set off. If planning on a lot of cycling then definitely make sure the tires are pumped up enough. This bike was fine for this type of casual cycling and there was enough gears to cope with the hills. I recommend this company for the boat trip and bike hire. Note the trip back on open sea a bit rougher due to winds picking up in the day but this bit only lasts 30 mins.

Response from Host, Dec 2025

Brilliant to hear and we agree, bike hire is a great option for exploring Rottnest Island!

Great choice

Ian_H, Nov 2025
Great option for Rottnest Island. The ferry from Elizabeth Quay and bike hire package allows you to receive a very good bike as soon as you step off the ferry and more time to explore beautiful Rottnest.

Response from Host, Dec 2025

Brilliant, thanks Ian, we hope you had a great experience with us and a great day on Rottnest!

Rottnest Island is...

Jerome_S, Nov 2025
Rottnest Island is beautiful and a must-see for Perth visitors. The ferry ride was comfortable and the staff were pleasant and friendly. The rented bikes were functional. An option for upgrade to an e-bike would have made the experience even more amazing.

Response from Host, Nov 2025

Thanks for your feedback. Although we currently only rent pedal bikes, there are e-bikes available for rent on the island (subject to availability). Great to hear that you enjoyed your experience with us!

Thoroughly enjoyable...

Thoroughly enjoyable experience! Once I got the hang of the bike gears, it was fun! Beautiful beaches!

A Lovely Day

Kim_P, Mar 2025
Our day started with being collected from our Hotel, this certainly made things very easy for us. Checkin to get our tickets and to organise the bike hire was very easy. The trip down the Swan River was great and was enjoyable. Once we arrived at the Island it was very easy to collect our bikes and then commence to explore the Island. It was quite a warm day so I do recommend sun protection and also insect repellent. We spent our day cycling to different areas of the Island and enjoyed eating at a couple of the eateries on the Island. Surprisingly when we were away from the populated areas of the Island we thought that we might see Quoka’s in their natural environment however this was not to be. It would appear that these cutie’s have become quite used to humans and we only saw them in the populated areas. There are many signs to say don’t feed to touch the Quoka’s however we did observe that this was not complied with. The kids certainly had mixed emotions some were scared and then were very excited to see them. Overall we had a great day.

Amazing day out

Alienor_P, Feb 2025
Amazing day Check in at Barrack Jetty was seamless. Great cruise down the Swan with some interesting commentary. Bike delivery at rottnest was great. Would definitely recommend this trip to anyone. Points to consider - take water as outside the main settlement water stations are scarce. It's a bit hilly but average fitness is fine. I only did the medium and small loop ad wanted to stop. Pick up a map before you leave Perth ad this means you can get on your way whilst the hoardes descend on the TI on the island.

Response from Host, Mar 2025

Excellent, so great to hear that you enjoyed your ferry experience with SeaLink Rottnest Island, as well as with our hire bikes - a great way to explore the island!

Viator are crooks

Glenn_J, Oct 2024
Our rottnest Island ferry and bike trip paid for via Viator was cancelled by Captain Cook cruises due to bad weather on 2 Oct. However, Viator haven't refunded the money yet. Captain Cook said they contacted Viator but nothing has happened. So beware of a cancellation as they will rip you off! So angry!

Quokka visit

Bronwyn_M, Jun 2024

Nice day trip

Nadine_S, Mar 2024
Rottnest Island is so worth a trip. On the way there the swan river felt like it's own tour because they gave lots of information and even free coffee. The way back was so windy the ocean was rough. They handled it realy well even handing out free water ice, thank you! Also their bikes are quite good and comfy to ride.

Pinnacles sunset

Brigitte_K, Jan 2024
Pinnacles, unfortunately it was to cloudy to see stars. Our driver was very nice and gave us a lot of informations
