My kids, ages 19 and 17, said this was one of the best tours they've taken (and they've done tours in Italy, England, Greece, and Japan!) Oscar did a great job in educating us how food is so intertwined in the history, art, and politics of France. I loved the story of how the toasting of glasses originated from the fear of being poisoned.

Our walk with Margo was fantastic. Although a 99F weather experience, we managed to find the shade and air conditioned stops. A wonderful experience.

Itinerary

Your tour of Paris’ atmospheric, trendy Marais neighborhood begins at a convenient meeting place in the heart of the district. Choose to set off in the morning or afternoon, depending on what works best for your sightseeing schedule, and explore with just a small group for company.

On this tour for food lovers, you’ll head off the tourist trail and visit the neighborhood’s locally beloved bakeries, chocolate makers, and other traditional food shops. Be sure to come hungry: Over the course of several hours, you’ll stop at up to 10 local addresses, where you’ll indulge in classically French treats ranging from macarons and cheese to wine, bread, jam, and much more.

As you go, your guide will bring the district’s history to life, and will share stories and point out landmarks that you wouldn’t encounter on your own. See major landmarks like the Hôtel de Ville, and visit the Marché des Enfants Rouges: Paris’ oldest covered market.

Finally, your experience ends at your original start point, with plenty of time left for you to continue your Paris sightseeing.

Fun food and wine tour.

Johanna was super fun and knowledgeable. We were running late and she went out of her way to come back and get us so we could experience the tour!

Not worth the price.

Elisabeth_H, May 2026
It was nice and we enjoyed it, but definitely not worth the price. If it was more like $80 rather than $150 it would have been much better.

Response from Host, May 2026

Hi Elisabeth, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re very happy to hear that you enjoyed the tour and the experience overall. We understand that pricing can feel subjective, and we’d like to explain that our tours are designed as premium small-group experiences. The price reflects not only the food and wine tastings, but also the expertise of our local guides, the carefully selected artisan shops and producers in Le Marais, and the personalized experience we aim to provide to every guest. Our goal is to offer more than just tastings — we want visitors to discover the history, culture, and hidden gems of the neighborhood through passionate local guidance and high-quality products. We truly appreciate your comments, as they help us continue improving, and we hope to welcome you again in Paris in the future. Best regards, The Original Food Tours team

Loved this food tour!

Th good choices were wonderful, and the walking distances were short. Our guide Lolla was fantastic!

poorly planned and food was not impressive for Paris

Lisa_B, Apr 2026
There is no place to sit down at most of the tasting places and most of the guests were elderly. This made for a very uncomfortable tour. Locations and food were not impressive. Dinner was a sit down restaurant. But after taking 6 food tours in different european cities, this is my least favorite,

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Thank you for your feedback. We would like to clarify that this is a walking food tour, as clearly indicated in the description. As such, most tastings take place standing or on the go, which is a standard format for this type of experience. We understand that this may not suit everyone, particularly guests seeking a more seated or relaxed pace, and we encourage future guests to take this into consideration when booking. Regarding your comment that the locations and food were “not impressive,” we are unfortunately unable to understand what specifically did not meet your expectations, as no details were provided. We carefully select our partners to showcase authentic, local cuisine rather than fine dining, which is also outlined in the tour description. We’re glad you appreciated the seated dinner portion, but we regret that the overall concept of the tour did not align with your preferences.

Oscar was a superb tour guide. We tasted things and encountered things we would have never seen or known about without his expertise and knowledge of off-the-beaten-path gems. We would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Paris.

Really enjoyed this tour...

MatthewS, Nov 2025
Really enjoyed this tour because we got to see Le Marais and learn more about the neighborhood. There was plenty of food — probably too many sweets. We only tasted falafel and no pastrami as advertised. There was no wine tastings — just one small glass of wine and we had booked to also enjoy French wines. We missed the advertised church and there was no discussion of Hotel Ville. Although we really enjoyed the tour, it did not unfold as advertised. We had to walk quite a way to find and see Hiotel de Ville and without commentary, it was a bit of a waste of time. We really enjoyed our guide. This would have been a five star rating had he followed the advertised itinerary and hit the key spots, especially the wine.

A Perfect Introduction to Le Marais — Food, Wine, and History!

Christina_G, Jun 2025
We had an unforgettable walking wine and food tour through the Le Marais neighborhood with a vibrant young guide who was a university student studying history. She brought the area to life with her knowledge, energy, and enthusiasm — effortlessly weaving in local history, architectural insights, and cultural context with stops for incredible food and wine. Our small group of six enjoyed a thoughtfully curated selection of award-winning cheeses, wines, savory bites, desserts, and chocolates — all from beloved spots in the neighborhood. She was engaging, thorough, and answered every question with ease. The pacing was perfect, and it felt like a truly special way to experience Le Marais for the first time. Highly recommend!

We had a great time on the food and wine tour. Our tour guide Lola was so sweet and she was very knowledgeable about the whole city. The food and wine were delicious!

Don’t Miss!

Adrienne_F, May 2025
This is a “don’t miss” in Paris. We had an amazing tour guide named, Kevan, that took us around Marais for cheese, wine, and snacks. He was spectacular. It was great to have a local that grew up in Marais and not only bring us on a food and wine tour but tell us the history behind the area. We really enjoyed our time with Kevan and it felt more like meeting up with a local friend that is showing you around the best places. Great way to take a break from the crowds of the big attractions enjoy some wonderful food and great locals. Highly recommend!

Merci Lola

Donna_R, May 2025
Lola was on time , personable and we enjoyed variety of foods! The cheeses and Bordeaux especially a hit Merci

A bit pricey for what you sample

Felice_P, May 2025
It was a fun tour with a small group and a fun guide. We had cheese, wine, bread, falafel, escargot( I got lucky hardly anyone ate it so I got more),baked cheese, a macaroon and another sweet (cant remember what it is called). I have been on other food tours and for the price, I do not think we had enough food. I felt bad for the other people on this tour. They really didn't eat the escargot and that was the "main sit down dish" I would still recommend it as it was informative about the area and the guide was very nice

Best food tour ever

Carmela_D, May 2025
Fabulous experience! Maybe the highlight of our time in Paris. Our tour leader was perfection! He was personable, knowledgeable, affable and engaging. Wonderful blend of history and information about the various foods we ate. The blend of cuisine was incredible. Well worth it!
