We loved our tour with Eden! It really fits the description - tucked away treats and history in Oslo that you would never stumble upon otherwise, and while still in Oslo it was nice to have a few quieter hours away from the hustle and bustle of the city center. We had excellent food and felt the walking amount was very reasonable. Key to know that the tour ends about 25-30 minute walk from where it starts, so either just prepare for that ahead of time or plan to catch the tram back into town! Would definitely recommend to friends and family!

Well worthwhile- shows you parts of the city you may miss. The guide added a lot of interesting facts and history to the city. She picked real interesting restaurants.

Our guide was very knowledgeable and took us off the beaten path. A lot of hidden gems. The food tasting was fantastic.

We loved our Oslo Hidden Gems and Food Tour with Idunn. She was friendly, approachable, funny and just lovely. Besides that she was knowledgeable and we learned so many interesting things about the city. It was lots of walking which we enjoyed and were able to get a feel for the city - even in cold winter weather. The fish soup was abslutely delicious, the lunch gave us a taste of a good variety of fresh Norwegian food, and the waffle and brown cheese was the perfect warm ending for a wonderful tour. Thank you Idunn and Oslo Nature! Paige & Dave Kerr

Lovely walk around Oslo with tasty meals. Guide was a good historian with lots of facts and stories about Oslo and general Norwegian culture.

Annie was a fabulous, knowledgeable guide. The itinerary was a perfect blend of walking the backstreets of Oslo and delicious food. Would highly recommend this excursion! Tassen Tack Annie, well done!!

Having done a few tours I would have appreciated a bit more about the food culture of Noway. That said it was a good tour. Knowledgeable and lovely guide and great food stops
Herlin_S, Jan 2026
Our family loved the experience. Annie took us to places that we would never have discovered otherwise. Bring water with you and wear comfy walking shoes as there will be some incline hills. It was the perfect number of people, and Annie is very engaging, easy to chat with and knows a lot about her food.
As we went in winter during Christmas holiday, we had our lunch sitting around fire pit grilling sausages looking over the fjord. Lovely experience all in all.

Our tour guide was knowledgeable and very personable. It was nice to see areas other than the touristy places. Food was great!

Good sampling of higher end restaurants that locals choose mixed with history of their neighborhoods.

Idum was amazing - so fun to be with a local who knows where to go, all the inside scoop! Great blend of walking and insights!

We had an amazing time on the tour with Idunn. She was extremely knowledge and able to answer all of our questions about Oslo & Norway in general. The tour was a great chance to try some delicious Norwegian foods and explore parts of the city that most tourists won't see.

We loved this tour. Idun, our tour guide, has a great deal of knowledge about Oslo and she has a warm and delightful personality. She took us to off-the-beaten path places that we never would have found on our own or even known to have visited otherwise. We enjoyed everything we saw and learned and tasted! The food was authentic and delicious!

Good amount of walking, so be prepared. But nothing crazy. You see cool neighborhoods and scenes you might not otherwise see on your own or on more mainstream tours. Well paced as far as food spacing. High quality food, meal portions, and nice venues. My recommendation would be to do a mainstream tour of the major Oslo spots, or go on your own, see the museums, and then do this tour. Our tour guide Margarita, definitely depended my understanding of Norwegian culture which was helpful after seeing the highlights.

Fun walk around neighborhoods in Oslo, with some good food stops along the way. Our guide was informative and interesting.

What a great way to get to know Oslo! Idunn is knowledgeable and so much fun. The combination of gems and food worked well. Book it!
Timothy_L, Sep 2025
Very informative tour with great food to go with it. We were able to visit places I'm sure we would not have otherwise seen and our tour guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining.
Jennifer_P, Aug 2025
Margarita was a knowledgeable guide and the food was excellent! Good mix of seeing Oslo, learning about history (old and more recent) and having breaks while enjoying local food & drink!

This is a small group tour that takes you off the beaten path. I really loved that it wasn't a wikipedia-style "here's all the info about this thing; now let's move on" tour. It was real conversation and we could linger where we were interested or move on if we weren't. And the food was fabulous!
Response from Host, Aug 2025
We’re thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the more conversational style of the tour and that it felt different from the usual “checklist” experience. Our goal is to keep things flexible and engaging so that guests can really connect with the places we visit. And we’re so glad you loved the food!
Buck_S, Aug 2025
Quite a few steep hills. You do need to be in decent shape. But a terrific tour. It’s nothing like a city tour. It’s well put together
Response from Host, Aug 2025
We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the tour and appreciated that it’s something quite different from a typical city tour. You’re absolutely right that the route includes some hills, so a decent level of fitness makes the experience more enjoyable. We really appreciate your kind words about how the tour is put together, and we hope to welcome you back on another adventure in the future!

We loved our experience walking around Oslo and sampling great food! Highly recommend to anyone visiting Oslo.
Response from Host, Aug 2025
Thank you so much for your kind words!
Donae_W, Jul 2025
Great experience, with a wonderfully engaging guide. The company is very responsive and flexible, readily helping me to make adjustment after I booked the wrong day.
The host was wonderful, she managed to mixed interesting Oslo facts with the food experience, and that was fun.
The food wasn't a lot, only 3 stops, but the flavors were rich. Lunch was a salad, a tasting salad of sorts, with three different types of salad which tasted great, but 3 tastings with no drinks included was not a lot for the price.
Response from Host, Jul 2025
We're really happy to hear that you enjoyed the tour and found our guide engaging and informative — and that we could quickly help you adjust your booking.
While the main course does come with a selection of salads, the focus of the main course is showcasing quality local ingredients — especially the fish, cheese, and cured meats — which are central to the tasting experience. That said, we understand that expectations around portion size and included drinks can vary, and your comments will help us fine-tune the balance between taste, value, and storytelling.

If you are looking to hear some great history of Oslo while eating some very delicious food you should definitely check out this tour. We met our guide Anni at a very convenient meeting spot in the city center. Anni took us to our first eating spot which was very delicious fish stew all while discussing highlights of the city along the way. We then walked for about an hour while Anni told us the history of the area. She took us away from the city center which was a nice change of pace. Anni was friendly, knowledgeable and easy to talk with. We then had an amazing farm to table meal. After that we walked a bit more had a traditional Norwegian waffle dessert. The time flew by on this tour and I would definitely do it again. Be prepared to do a bit of uphill walking but the views, the food and the history are worth it. Also our guide Anni was personable, knowledgeable and well traveled. She genuinely was fun to be around.
Response from Host, Jul 2025
We’re thrilled to hear you had such a great time on the tour with Anni — she really brings Oslo’s history to life in the most engaging way.
It means a lot to know you appreciated getting off the beaten path and experiencing a quieter side of the city — that’s exactly what we hope to offer. And yes, there's a bit of uphill walking, but as you said, the views (and the food!) make it all worthwhile.
We’ll be sure to pass along your kind words to Anni — she’ll be so happy to hear them.

We're glad you appreciated the hidden gems and peaceful atmosphere away from the city center. It’s exactly the experience we aim to create!
We're also glad you found the walking manageable and the food excellent. You're absolutely right about the tour ending about a 25–30 minute walk from the starting point. For future guests, the Biermannsgate tram stop nearby makes it easy to hop on a tram (lines 11, 12, or 18) and get back to the center in just 10–15 minutes.
Beth_T, Jun 2025
We walked a lot of this tour and ended far away from the starting point. The lunch spot was lovely and enjoyed the waffles and brown cheese.
Response from Host, Jul 2025
We’re happy to hear you enjoyed the lunch spot – the waffles and brown cheese are always a highlight!
We finish approximately 2.5 km (about 1.5 miles) from Oslo Central Station. It’s an easy 10–15 minute tram ride back to the city center (tram lines 11, 12, or 18), or about a 30-minute walk. We end the tour here becuase a lot of our guests would like to explore this neighboorhood more after the tour.

Off the beaten path experience with local foodie. Learned about customs and saw eclectic mix of the city while sampling savory foods and walking into diverse parts of Oslo.
Response from Host, Jun 2025
Thank you for the great feedback! We're glad you enjoyed discovering Oslo's hidden corners, local flavors, and culture with us.

We had a great time with Annie! She had many interesting stories and took us on a walk that we would have never had the luck to do on our own. We really liked the food and would recommend to anyone interested in going off the beaten path. (Additional context: we did the Norwegian food & hidden gems tour)
Response from Host, Jun 2025
Lovely! Thank you :)

Good deal of walking but worth it. Food was great and Annie was great. Very knowledgeable and fun. Would definitely give this one a try
Response from Host, Jun 2025
Thank you! :)

You will need really good walking shoes for this tour! There was a lot of up and down hills, and about 5-6 miles total distance.
The first place we stopped for food was about 15 minutes into the tour. The fish soup was delicious and the story behind the restaurant was interesting.
Then the real walking started. It was almost two hours before we reached the second food stop. The food was a delicious and good sized portions.
The third food stop was about 10 minutes away. Again, the food (waffles with caramel cheese and raspberry jam) was delicious and a large portion.
Our guide did take us to hidden gems we would not have seen on our own and provided information that we would not have received
If we were walking around on our own. Very informative.
We would have preferred, however, to have stopped more often for smaller bites.
The food was good, but you will have to work for it.
Response from Host, May 2025
Thank you for your feedback – we’re happy to hear you enjoyed the food and the hidden gems shared by our guide.
We’d like to clarify that the tour description provided before booking states: *“The tour is evenly split, with approximately 50% dedicated to food and 50% to discovering hidden gems. It covers a 4 km walk, mostly on flat terrain with a few short but steep uphill sections. The highest point is 45 meters above sea level.”*
Based on the detailed itinerary, the walking distance and timing mentioned in your review don't fully match the actual route. That said, we truly appreciate your comments — they help us see that we should make this information even clearer going forward.
John_S, Mar 2025
This is tough to review as we had a decent time, but it is not what one would expect on a food and hidden gems tour. We visited 3 places, no beverages were included besides tap water and learned nothing of this great city. Even many of our questions (i.e. the significance of the tiger statue at the train station) could not be answered and no talk about the history of Norway/Oslo, the waterfront development, why they consistently rank as one of the happiest countries... There was also little discussion about the types of food we were eating.
Response from Host, Apr 2025
Thank you for your honest feedback. I'm sorry to hear the tour didn’t meet your expectations. We always aim to offer a mix of great food, local insights, and hidden gems, and it’s clear we missed the mark this time.
We appreciate your comments about the lack of historical context and limited food explanation, - they’re all noted and will help us improve.
As for drinks not being included, this is clearly stated before booking. This is, of course, to help keep the overall price of the tour lower. If drinks were included, the tour would be more expensive. We believe it’s fairer to let each guest decide for themselves whether they’d like to purchase a drink beyond water. This is something we will continue to do moving forward :)

A great walk through a part of Oslo we never would have seen without this tour. The pace of the walk was easy, with some hills that helped us to digest each of the meals. During the walk it was great to get to hear information about Oslo and the area as well as ask questions and get key information from Margarita our guide. Our favorite stop was the fish soup! But the waffle at the end tied it up nicely. We left with or stomachs full, legs tired, and felt like we spent the afternoon with a local friend.
