Amazing experience at Osaka morning sumo practice

I wasn’t sure what to expect as reviews for the Osaka miring sumo practice were non existent but I’m so very glad I took the chance as I feel luckier to have gone to this than had I scored tickets to the tournament itself. The guide gave our group a 10 minute intro to sumo at our meeting place and then we walked over to the park a few minutes away where a tent was set up. Some people were gathered around trying to peer in but we were led in to folding seats set up right on the edge of the practice ring. There were a dozen wrestlers running drills, lifting weights and cycling through match ups against each other. I sat there for an hour mesemerized until we had to leave for an appointment. I can’t imagine anything more authentic or intimate. Definitely not for children but if you’re a lover of sport or athletics I can’t imagine being disappointed by seeing these athletes up close. A once in a lifetime opportunity worth every penny.
