Stopping at Curi Cancha Reserva, this guided birding tour will show you the diversity and multitude of species in each one. For half a day, try to find the most birds you can. This was an amazing experience. Esteban is very knowledgeable and was an amazing guide. We saw so much that we would not have seen without him. It felt like we were in a National Geographic show. We also arranged transportation with him and that went very smoothly. I would recommend this tour to everyone even non birders. It was fantastic!

Johnny was a very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and Friendly guide. He is great at what he does! We saw over 30 birds including the Bell bird and a keel billed toucan actively at the nest. We also saw a couple of Agouti, 2 pigs and a few Coati and went home with many videos and pictures that he took thru the scope!

Justin has a true love for birds and bird watching that shines through in his engaging and informative tour! We had never been bird watching before so for those unfamiliar please be aware that it requires patience for calling the birds and waiting for the right vantage point - more time is spent stationary than mobile. We had a very nice experience and Justin did a wonderful job spending so much time with us even beyond the allotted duration to make sure we saw as many birds as possible .

We had a wonderful birding tour with Dernierth from Esteban Daily Tours. We saw so many birds and he was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about birding. We wouldn't have been able to find or ID as many birds as we did if we hadn't had a tour with such a patient and wonderful guide. The other tour guides from Watebam Daily Tours shared info with each other which helped spot so many unique and wonderful birds of the area. Dernierth kept an eBird list and shared it with us at the end, toted the heavy scope and recognized the calls and spotted them with expertise. I highly recommend Dernierth and Esteban Daily Tours for novice and expert birders.

We had a great time! We saw so many birds, and really enjoyed seeing curi cancha park. The tour starts around the CASEM coop, and then you stop for coffee and snacks before heading to the park.
I honestly think our guide Derniert was more experienced than the park staff would be. He did biological field work and worked as tour guide in Monte Verde before moving to work independently. He was so knowledgeable about specific places in the park where we would have a higher chance of seeing birds, and answered all of my little random questions I had been wondering about different ecosystems in Costa Rica.

What a great experience we had with Dernierth, our guide on this tour. He was so knowledgeable and taught us so much, took care to stop, show us beautiful birds and explain, not just a tramp through the forest. His biological knowledge of everything in the forest was incredible and he was a lovely person to spend the morning with, despite the rain. We are novice bird watchers but really enjoyed the experience. He took some lovely photos for us using his scope.

I wish I could give this more than 5 stars! This was truly my husband and I's favorite tour of our honeymoon. Esteban was so enthusiastic about birding and all wildlife and he was incredibly good at spotting a variety of species. He knew so much about each bird and made each one "come alive" for us. We had never gone bird watching before and had no idea how thrilling it could be. This tour is an absolute must do! Esteban has amazing tools like bincoluars and a scope so you can get an up close and personal view of all of the wildlife. THANK YOU!

My boys and I are still talking about our birding tour months later because of Esteban. My oldest son is 12 and loves bird watching and continues to ask when we can go back to Costa Rica. Esteban took a different unplanned path at the Request of my 9 yr old and we saw a very rare bird, the golden crowned chlorophonia. The binoculars lent to us were amazing as our pair had just broken. Esteban is kind, attentive and very knowledgeable and full of energy. He had so much excitement with every bird we saw which was around 46. After the tour, he sent us photos he captured and also a link that listed every bird we saw. He also used a speaker and bird calling app that brought the squirrel cuckoo to us. He even arranged a last minute night walk tour with another guide he recommended and we were not disappointed. Highly recommend Esteban! Thank you for an unforgettable first time bird watching experience!

We loved our bird tour with Esteban, he was very knowledgeable and knew the park very well. This was our first visit to the area and we felt that while Monteverde reserve was beautiful also, Curi Cancha had more species in a smaller area. Bird list was 58 for the day.

We would highly recommend the birding tour with Esteban. He was fantastic. He picked us up at our hotel and took us to Curicancha around 6 AM (make sure to bring your passport and $20/pp entry fee). Esteban is an expert birding guide, friendly and accomodating. We saw 71 bird species in 4 hours including 3 male and 1 female Resplendent Quetzal, Keel-billed Toucans, Guans to name a few. A must do for those birding in Monteverde!

Esteban was a 10/10 guide! We're not birders ourselves but his passion for birding was infectious and always had us excited for the next sighting. We saw tons of species, even a male and female Quetzal! He is incredibly talented and his knowledge was truly impressive. It was wonderful learning about all the different species here in Monteverde, and just hearing stories from his personal experience.
He seriously was the best guide we had in all of Costa Rica, we highly recommend!!

Esteban is amazing. He knows everything about birds and is really a birder by heart. He takes a lot of time to spot the birds and answer all questions. He saw a lot of different species including both Tucans that live in Monteverde (like five rainbow Tucans). We only missed a Quetzal, but then Esteban even gave us a very good hint where (and how) we have the best chance to spot it ourselves in Monteverde Reserve. Fully recommened.

Zoo pictures aside, birds and animals are pretty hard to see in the real outdoors. Esteban made sure to point out things and helped us take pictures. His spotting scope was very helpful, and we were able to get some cellphone photos through that.
We had opted for a private tour, so the tour was totally personalized. Highly recommend.

Every once in a while you connect with a truly special guide that knows his birds... such is the case with Esteban. I added 26 birds to my life list on the day out with Esteban! Like all birding trips, It was a day of hit or miss, but mostly hits. Each finding carries a story, such as the Bicolored Hawk that Esteban located too far for my eyes to see, or the special side trip just to see the Gray-throated Leaftosser. Unforgettable trip, one that I need repeat in April when the "aguacatillo" ripens attracting the Resplendent Quetzal. Esteban has rejuvenated by passion for going to Monteverde!
