Our guide Neene was absolutely wonderful. She was incredibly knowledgeable, and we learned a lot. She was exceptional.
Leonard_I, Jan 2026
Our guide, 'Neene', was fantastic. Her commentary brought the museum to life and gave a glimpse into the lives of Frida and Diego.
Patricia_S, Mar 2025
Mar was an excellent guide and so very knowledgeable about Frida and Diego. Without question do this tour with Mar.

Unfortunately, we took the address from the app to give our Uber driver and the address was incorrect and we had to pay additional cash to driver to take us to the Casa Azul correct address. Because of this, we arrived late and although our tour guide, Armando, was in communication and waited, we were told he would not have time to take us to Diego’s studio. In fact, we almost didn’t get into La Casa Azul!! Armando’s tour was great. He was informative and friendly. Unfortunately, we reached out to tour agent and could not be compensated for another day. She stated that the ticket voucher did state the correct address and wasn’t responsible for how the Viator app wrote out the address. This was going to be the highlight of the trip from NY.
Response from Host, Jan 2025
Dear Carmen,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.
After thoroughly investigating the situation, we must confirm that all sources, including the ticket, confirmation letter, and Viator website, provided the correct address for the tour.
It seems the official information included in your ticket and confirmation letter was not used to navigate to the meeting point. As the tour operator, we always encourage our guests to rely on the official sources we provide, verify directions in advance, and contact us immediately if any issues arise. Unfortunately, when the official instructions are not followed, situations like this fall outside of our control.
Regarding your tour experience, your reservation was for a group tour with pre-purchased tickets for two museums: the Frida Kahlo Museum and Diego Rivera’s Studio House. Since you arrived after the tolerance period for late arrivals, we adjusted the tour to ensure you could still have a meaningful experience.
Our guide, Armando, waited for you for an hour, going beyond our policy. He did all his best to ensure the museum administration allowed you entry after the official entrance time and customized the tour to make it as fulfilling as possible under the circumstances. However, as another tour with Armando was scheduled afterward, we were unable to extend the tour after its finishing time.
We strive to provide great service and clear communication at every stage of the booking process. We have been with you every step of the way, from your reservation to addressing your final concerns, to ensure the best possible experience.
Thank you again for your feedback, and I’m glad you enjoyed your visit to the Frida Kahlo Museum with Armando.
Best regards,
Anastasiya

A friend and I took this tour on Tuesday, October 22. Wow. What a great tour. Our Guide Neene was the best imaginable - very knowledgeable of art and of the lives of Frida and Diego. We had many questions and she answered them all - patiently.
Jerry_A, Sep 2024
Horrible experience - the directions were unclear and due to this we missed our tour - would never recommend
Response from Host, Sep 2024
Dear Jerry,
I’m truly sorry to hear that you feel this way about your experience with us. However, I’d like to address a few points from our previous conversations to clarify the situation.
The meeting point for the tour was clearly stated as the entrance of the Frida Kahlo Museum in the tour description, confirmation voucher, and follow-up letters. When you arrived at a different location, our guide did everything possible to assist, including securing special permission for you to enter later and waiting an additional 30 minutes at the designated meeting point. We also suggested taking a taxi, Uber, or Didi to the correct location, which was less than a 15-minute ride, but unfortunately, you did not respond or arrive.
From our later conversations, we understood that you had issues with the airport pickup service, which you booked through another company, and that you were dissatisfied with Viator overall, even threatening to leave a "horrible review" for us. While we understand that travel can be stressful, we genuinely tried our best to help resolve the situation. It seems that frustrations with services unrelated to our tour may have influenced this review. I personally feel this review is unfair and does not reflect the service and attention we provided.
We value your feedback and hope that future travel experiences will be smoother for you.
Warm regards,
Anastasiya

Neene was so very knowledgeable and helpful. She went out of her way to make us comfortable and ensured that we had a wonderful experience. We knew so little about Freda and Diego and we could not have asked for a better guide. Our only regret is that we forgot to tip her. Is there anyway we can do that now?
Bruce_P, Dec 2023
Our guide, Neene, was excellent! She was very knowledge about the Kahlo house and studio Museum ("the blue house") and the lives of Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo. Neene also was very polite and spoke excellent English. I recommend her to anyone planning to do the Kahlo Museum and Studio tour.
Scarlet_S, Oct 2023
Incredible experience. Neene was a great guide. She knew much about the intricacies of life at the Casa Azul and studio of Diego Rivera.
Marcus_W, Feb 2023
Ciudadella was a wonderful guide - very enthusiastic about Diego & Frida.
It was a very interesting tour of the houses/studios of both artists.
Also recommended for anyone who did not get tickets to the Kalho museum.
Candice_D, Feb 2023
This tour was a total waste of time. The time was changed in us 3 times. The tour was supposed to be 3-3 1/2 hours the Diego studio tour lasted less than 30 minutes and we were charged for an entry fee but it is FREE on Sundays ( the day we went). Next we were taken to Casa Azul and got there at 3:50 and our entry tickets were for 4:45. So we were expected to wait 55 minutes, this was considered part of the tour time.
Response from Host, Feb 2023
Good morning, Candice, my name is Anastasiya, I'm the director of City Art Tours Mexico. We have been in touch with you. I'm sincerely sorry that you had a negative experience with us and you feel that the tour was a waste of time. It was never our intention you felt like this, it was quite the opposite.
Your original reservation was made for this Saturday at 10:30 am, unfortunately as there were the peak dates of the season there were no tickets available for this time. We offered to adjust the reservation for Sunday 3 pm or change the reservation for Frida Kahlo Museum the same day at 4:30 or Sunday 4:30 pm with the partial refund. You kindly accepted the tour for Sunday 3 pm.
We adjusted the program of the tour for this time slot and made it private for you.
The tour included:
- an hour of the museum visit in Diego Rivera Studio: 45 min of the explication and 15 min of free time;
- the time to reach Frida Kahlo Museum - 30 min;
- 15 min extra in case of the traffic jam, sanitary stop etc;
- 60 min - 80 min of the explication inside of the Frida Kahlo Museum and 15 min for additional questions, souvenir purchases, photos
The tour started earlier at 2:53 pm, after a 40 min tour in Diego Rivera Studio, Neene offered a free time to take photos or answer the questions you might have, you asked to proceed directly to Frida Kahlo Museum. At 3:39 pm you left the Diego Rivera Studio. It took 15 min instead of 30 min to reach the Frida Kahlo Museum as at that time there was no traffic.
In the free time before the museum visit Neene offered a complimentary tour of Coyoacan to the places connected with Frida Kahlo or make a stop for a coffee. Unfortunately, you refused the offer and decided to leave the tour.
It's the first time when the waiting time between the museums was 50 min, I'm sincerely sorry about it. We do everything possible to provide the best experience to our guests, we prefer to come 15 min earlier due to the traffic situation in the city on Sunday than to lose the entrance tickets to Frida Kahlo Museum.
The free admission for Diego Rivera Studio on Sunday. The costs of the tour includes the guide service, the admission tickets to Frida Kahlo Museum and Diego Rivera Studio, the transportation between the museums. The entrance fee to Diego Rivera Studio is 40 MXP (it's around 2 USD) and it doesn't affect the cost of the tour. What matters is the tickets to Frida Kahlo Museum, they are expensive and have a higher price on Saturday and Sunday.
It's true that the majority of the museums and the historical sights in Mexico have free admission on Sunday, unfortunately Frida Kahlo Museum has a higher cost. In general in Mexico the tour companies don't reduce the cost of the tour because of the free admission on Sunday.
Once again, please, accept our apologies. I'm sincerely sorry that you didn't enjoy the tour and decided to skip the Frida Kahlo Museum. We honestly write and explain the museum visit rules and we hope for understanding when, like in this situation, you arrived earlier to the second museum.
Best regards,
Anastasiya

The experience was very good, as it was the first time I visited the facilities of the Frida Kahlo museum, however, I urge the guide who accompanied us to continue, improving his English and delve a little more into Frida Kahlo’s personal artistic history.

La información proporcionada por la guía fue vital para comprender el entorno de Frida y Diego. Además la experiencia de ver su obra tan cerca y sus cosas personales es impresionante.
