Hello, I am contacting you regarding my booking for the “Balloon Flight + Natural Cave Breakfast + Pyramids + Pickup” experience. I paid USD $237.52 for 2 adults, and my confirmation clearly lists the experience as including “Pickup.” It also provided the meeting location as Vive Vuela Teotihuacan, La Purificación, 55850 San Martín de las Pirámides, México, with a start time of 4:30 AM on September 4, 2026. I arrived at the location at 4:30 AM as instructed and waited, but no one was there. The tour did not actually begin until around 5:00–5:30 AM. Everything went smoothly with the balloon flight, but afterward, when we were supposed to continue to the breakfast caves and pyramids, the staff asked who we had arrived with. We explained that we had gotten there on our own. They then told us that, despite our booking appearing to include pickup, we were not actually booked for transportation and that we would need to figure out how to get back on our own. We were initially told to get into the van, only to then be told to get out once they realized our transportation was supposedly not included. This was extremely embarrassing and completely unprofessional. What is even more concerning is that the staff told us this happens frequently because customers often believe pickup is included in this package. If this is a recurring issue, why has Viator or the tour operator not corrected the listing or made the transportation terms much clearer? The booking title itself specifically says “+ Pickup,” which understandably leads a customer to believe transportation is included. I booked this experience based on what was advertised and confirmed in my booking. I should not have been put in an embarrassing situation because of unclear or misleading information between Viator and the tour operator. I am requesting that this situation be reviewed and that appropriate compensation/refund be provided for the misleading pickup information and the inconvenience and embarrassment we experienced. I would also strongly recommend that the listing be corrected so future customers are not put through the same situation.
The overall experience was good. However viator has been horrible after all of the events ive booked through them. My partner pulled his muscle needs to have surgery and I tried to ask them to refund me for his ticket or give me a credit them denied that. Thats horrible customer service with someone that books all the time. There are other sites you can use i would recommend you DONT USE VIATOR lack of customer service is a real thing. Ill post on social media as well.
We booked the balloon flight, the cave breakfast and a stop at the pyramids with pick up and drop off at our hotel... or so we thought. While I have two emails (one from Viator prior to the excursion and one from the excursion driver the night before the excursion) saying that we would get both picked up AND dropped off at our hotel, that was NOT the case. When we were picked up at 4:40am at our hotel, the driver told us that he wouldn't be able to drop us off at the hotel later because traffic would be too bad and that he would drop us off at the Angel statue (which was over a 2 mile walk from our hotel). He asked if it was "ok" to which I replied "no" but of course we had no choice. VERY DECEPTIVE. The balloon portion of the trip was amazing and I would recommend using them for that portion to anyone. As for the rest... the breakfast was served by friendly waiters however the food was lukewarm and very average. We were hungry by this time so it was fine, but I wouldn't recommend it. Then we were taken to a shopping area and liquor tasting stop... NOT part of the original tour we booked. We were there for 45 minutes. Then we were told it was time to go to the pyramids. We knew that admission to the pyramids was NOT included in our tour so we were ok with that. We didn't want to go into the pyramid attraction since we saw everything from the air and based on what was disclosed to us with the tour we thought that we could just wait outside at the pyramids while others toured it for about an hour. We were told that this was not an option, that we either bought tickets to the pyramids or we had to stay at the random shopping area for 2.5 hours. MANY in our group were upset by this as it was not disclosed and we all had planned to get back to the city (and our pick up spots) within the time frame given when we booked. We then felt forced to buy tickets, which we did and then went to the pyramids. Our entire van and driver decided and agreed on a meeting time which we would then leave to go back to the city. When that time came, our driver was no where to be found. The van was in the parking lot, but we texted our driver for 15 minutes before he finally showed up. By that time, all but 2 people in our group (they were another 30 minutes late from the agreed upon time) were waiting, very annoyed and just wanted to get back. We were all dropped at the angel statue almost 10.5 hours after our 4:40am pick up time.
I would personally find a way to get to the balloon ride vendor on my own from the city, do the balloon ride and go back to the city. This is NOT worth the amount of time and frustration we experienced.

Picked up was late and was rushed to the hot air balloon , we didn’t managed to see how they did everything. Breakfast at the cave sucked, coffee and orange juice had so much of sugar in it. The main was cold and bland.
Hot air balloon was amazing, overall long day wear tennis shoes, overall good experience. There was 13 of us on this excursion strangers & I spoke to 8 of us & we did not like the breakfast. The purchase on viator was for a natural cave breakfast we did not have that. I’ve been to the cave breakfast before, our driver said this breakfast was better, not true. The natural cave breakfast was missed, which was disappointing.
The flight itself and the pilot were the only amazing thing from this booking, the problem lies, and everything else. For one, we would assume that any pictures taken of us prior to flight would be included however they wait until the very end to show you, your pictures. They initially tried to sell me my pictures for 1000 pesos however, I told him that I only had two pictures and the video didn’t even fully include me in it. I told the lady I was fine and she dropped the price to 500 pesos, it just seems all like a scam. Another issue was that the main tour organizer did not take us to the restaurant that is explicitly mentioned in the booking, he took us to a random buffet, where the food was not even good and left many of us with an upset stomach. Doing this most likely saved them money from our booking, and allowed them to pocket the rest. Me and my group wanted to still do the cave restaurant, but he was trying to give us many reason why we shouldn’t go there and he promised us that he would still take us to a cave to take pictures which he evidently did not. It is very unfortunate because we paid so much money for this booking and I feel like we got scammed. They then took us, to learn about minerals and about tequila in which we did get tequila shots, however after he asked if we really truly wanted to go see the pyramids and if we did not want to go, he would take us back, I just feel like he was pushing for us to do what he wanna do or what his itinerary was, which is very unfortunate because it did not follow the itinerary that it said it would follow. Would not do again.
This experience was one for the books. We didn’t know what to expect since it was our first time in a hot air balloon. The ride was so smooth! Breakfast was smooth and the coffee was incredible!
I chose a balloon flight only package, and it was really great and convenient for me. You would have to find your own transportation there and back, but the experience itself was amazing and totally worth it.

We didn't have breakfast in a cave, we ate breakfast at a restaurant without an explanation. When we arrived at the pyramid it was an extra fee which is deceiving in the title especially since we didn't get breakfast in the cave.
The kicker was on the way back he dropped everyone off in one place and we had to find our own way back because he said traffic was too bad.
