This was my second visit to Martinique using Beyond the Beach through Viator. While last year's tour of the northern part of the island offered more impressive landscapes, the southern area also had some truly beautiful and memorable views. Once again, the professionalism of the company, the guide, and the driver was excellent — I highly recommend them!

Tour was not as advertised. Trying to sell us chocolate and rum at 9 am was ridiculous. Stops from view points and the statues on the beach were from 5-7 minutes after long rides. We were finally dropped off at a beach area with nothing else around. So everyone just sat around or spent the 40 minutes looking for a bathroom. The beach access bathroom was disgustingly dirty . A total waste of time.

We were given a meeting time from Viator after confirmation of the booking. This was followed by a reminder email on the morning of the tour. Sandra, a Beyond the Beach guide, held up a sheet with our names making it easy to find the tour. The tour consisted of a Spice and Chocolate boutique with samples, a visit to a Rum distillery museum, with sample tasting and a fabulous beach. Sandra gave us a history of the island, the areas we were passing through and the indigenous wildlife. A very good 5 hour trip worth doing.

Spent five hours touring around the southern side of the Island with our tour guide, Lily. We went to the Trois River rum distillery where we sampled five types of rum, which were really good. Then visited the Diamond Rock in Diamante Ville before stopping at the Anse Cafford Memorial. This is 15 Stone statues representing the tragic story of slavesl that perished on a ship.
My only criticism was the short time spent at a beach where we had just 45 minutes to order and eat lunch. Unfortunately we only recieved part of our order. Needs to be at least an hour and 15 minutes to enjoy food comfortably.

Excellent joining details . Manuel was ready to receive the group of 11. A comfortable Mercedes minibus and an excellent driver. Manuel was a great guide full of energy, information and enthusiasm. He engaged with the entire group. Weather was mixed and there were unexpected traffic jams so Manuel was able to rearrange the tour so that we got the best out of the experience. Brilliant tour which we'd highly recommend.

We were moved onto the northern island tour as there were insufficient people booked on the southern one. However Emanuel was an excellent and informative guide and with sydney his great driver, we had a really interesting and comfortable tour, seeing some beautiful countryside, stopping at waterfalls, st pierre town and on a beach for some rum and guava juice! The minibus was comfortable, clean and air con worked well. A really enjoyable trip.

Lovely tour and tour guide. Loved the spice and tea/coffee shop. Also the memorial statues. Smaller group of 12 was nice. Some stops felt rushed though. Air conditioned mini bus was much appreciated.

Tour was wonderful! We saw a significant part of the island and the guide Sandra was very knowledgeable. Nice variety of activities, the beach was lovely, as was the scenery in general. Well organized, comfortable bus, considerate of a couple of passengers with mobility difficulties. Definitely would recommend the tour provider! Great day!

Long day..no bathroom at the beach. Nice mini bus, driver was excessive on the gas pedal. Best stops were the Rum factory & statues by the Sea. Needed more time at the beach location.

Our excursions in southern Martinique last 5 hours and include three stops with toilet facilities:
at the first stop, at Le Monde des Épices
at the Trois Rivières distillery
then at Anses d'Arlet beach
However, we sincerely apologise if this was not made clear enough during the tour.
We apologise for our driver's behaviour and will take immediate action to ensure that this does not happen again.
This tour is designed to allow our visitors to discover various iconic sites in the south. This means that time at the beach is limited. If you would like to spend more time at the seaside, we also offer excursions dedicated entirely to the beach and relaxation.

A tour of Southern Martinique, sold by Beyond the Beach
The lady escorting the tour was very pleasant and knowledgeable giving plenty of information.
The first two stops were both sales pitches, however the remainder of the tour was good with several lovely views and an extended beach stop.
The downsides were the air conditioning wasn’t really effective, and allied to only getting water when requested thus made the tour somewhat uncomfortable.

This was one of the best excursions we had during our 10 day Caribbean cruise. Our tour guide Rosalyn was amazing. She was very informative and looked after everyone extremely well during the tour. We never felt rushed, we had interesting stops with several bathroom breaks. Our driver Marco was excellent as well...the bus was in very good condition and well air conditioned. From the moment we met our guide on the pier until drop off we were 100% pleased. The lady at the spice shop was also wonderfully welcoming, greeting everyone with a smile and even came on the bus to personally thank everyone for coming to her shop. An amazing tour experience with wonderful ambassadors for Martinique.

They should inform people ahead of time that the bars and restaurants in Martinique mostly do not take U.S. dollars. Other than that, it was great.

The guide took us to a distillery and a spice shop, and around the island. Most of the time spent in the bus he had animated conversations with the driver, even though the road was heavily travelled with tight curves. To get some information about the island, you had to ask.

Our guide Manuel is one of our best, and we stand by his professionalism and knowledge. It is simply unacceptable to suggest that he was not informative or careless. Indeed, he is a true ambassador of the island and thrive on prodiving valuable insights about the island, and we have no doubt he was doing just that. We have complete confidence in his abilities, as evidenced by other Viator and Tripadvisor reviews highlighting him as an exceptional guide.
As for the driver, she is a trained professional who prioritizes safety above all else. The small bus used for tours, is designed for these types of roads, and our driver exercises extreme caution on every tour. If you felt otherwise, it may be worth considering your own perspective during the ride.

Everyone in our group enjoyed the tour. Francesca and Jordan were both entertaining and very knowledgeable about the history of Martinique. We liked tasting the different kinds of rum, got to experience the local market, and the spices & chocolate shop. Just wished we had more time swimming in the ocean since half hour was to short.

The most memorable part was the stop at Anse de Arlet - it is a nice, picturesque town, with a beautiful beach. Also, the guide brought snacks for us, which was unexpected and much appreciated.

Easy to find the leader on shore. Our guide did a good job. There were snacks and rum punch. But beware that they didn't plan any restroom breaks until almost the end like some tours. We had to find one and let me say it wasn't much.

We were really looking forward to exploring Martinique on this tour but the combination of a guide who spoke only fair English and some indifferent sights didn't pass the test. It was a shame the tour wasted time at the pottery village as it was just a glorified excuse to spend money and of little historical value. Of far greater interest would have been to spend time in the town of Trois Ilets itself and be able to walk around there for 30 minutes instead so we could have learned more about Josephine, Bonapart's wife. This was billed as a historic tour, yet far too few historic sites were included. The ONLY one worth seeing on the entire tour in our opinion was L'Anse Caffard, the memorial by the sea which was profoundly moving.

Thank you for your feedback, it is always interresting to have your review and know how to improve our excursions or description.
The south tour is more cultural than historical as described. Maybe it was not mentionned in the tour but the potery village, that is in Trois Ilets, used to be a part of the Domaine de la Pagerie, that belonged to Josephine's family. The downtown of the city only has the church to visit; we choose to go beyond with an handcraft site with product made in Martinique.
You are right, the Cap 110 at Anse Caffard is an unmissable site of this tour as it is not only historical but also a special tribute to the victims of slavery.
We are surprised though by the comment on the level of English of our guide that always has excellent reviews.
We hope that we will have an opportunity to show other wonders of our beautiful island Martinique, a part of France in the Caribbean!

All I can say is DO NOT BOOK with BEYOND THE BEACH for this tour in Martinique!
We were told that the guide would be waiting for us at the dock ready to collect us but nobody there! We managed to ask another tour guide who called the lady doing the tour and relayed to us that she was on her way! That was the first lie! An hour later as we were finally escorted to the tour bus where we found that the vehicle we were due to travel in was surrounded by transport police and was forbidden by the police to go anywhere! The minibus was not roadworthy and and all along the tour guide had been with the minibus dealing with the transport police. All i can say is 'Thank God' for the transport police as the thoughts of doing a tour in transport that was not safe fills me with absolute fear! The tyres were bold in places, bumper hanging off and window smashed and tape holding this together! To think they intended on taking us as tourist in this vehicle is astounding! No real apology until a good time after. We were told another vehicle was on its way but after waiting around, we requested a refund as we have lost all trust in this company, there was no way we wanted to go anywhere with this company. The only saving grace was that the tour guide supported us to find an alternative trip in which we had to pay cash for as we have paid prior to this trip so needed to wait for the refund to be processed back into our banks. All in all, do not book with this company, they really do need to sort their vehicles out to ensure they are roadworthy and safe for tourist to travel around the island in.

We already exchanged several emails and talked in person at the cruise port. But as your comment is now public, we again have to reply to your comment.
First of all, we truly apologize again for the negative impression as obviously it is absolutely not our goal to make our guests live a bad experience. Indeed, this day we faced several unusual issues with our van, and were trying to provide a quick solution for everyone as we explained to you. As we were already late because of an event in the downtown, we had to take a van directly at the rental company which was supposed to deliver it at the cruise port. They gave us the wrong van, not the one we are used to have. The van was not unsafe but had a broken glass repaired with film, and missing administrative papers. This does not represent a security issue or endanger customers. We quickly decided to ask for another van from the owner and a luxury Mercedes van arrived 10 minutes later. You were already upset and complaining so the best option was to refund you and ask another tour company to do the tour for you.
As a company we deeply value our client satisfaction and of course safety. We can assure you that despite the impression you might have we never put you or any of our clients in any type of risky situation, thanks God! Of course, we can understand your disappointment concerning this very unpleasant and unfortunate turn of events, we also are sorry that we didn't have the opportunity to find some common ground right-on-spot to improve your experience, and that you could not enjoy your excursion day as the rest of our client that day (despite our delay).
Finally, we can ensure you that we took your concern seriously, and have already set up a new process with our transportation partner.
