Wow! This was a fast moving, very informative tour for those who enjoy nature. There was a lot more walking on uneven ground than we anticipated. Our guide was very energetic and helpful. The lunch sandwich was disappointing because it had very little meat. Otherwise we saw a lot of a pretty island.

Best Way to See Martinque

Laura_B, Mar 2026
One of the best tours we have ever taken! Virgil was incredibly knowledgeable about the island and all of the plants in the botanical gardens. The trip to the waterfall does require going down steep stairs and since it was early in the trip we choose to wade. The rum factory is not just a tasting but also a factory tour. And the best part was the small group of 8.

Botanical Taste of Martinique.

Laurie_V, Mar 2026
So much to see in this 6 hour excursion. Waterfalls, botanical gardens, volcanoes, rain forest, old city church, lagoon and beach. Daniel was a great guide and kept us moving

Beautiful North Island Tour !!

Informative nature tour. Tasting and smelling or ‘squash and smell’

Glynn_T, Mar 2026
Daniel the guide was excellent and a lot of fun. If you like nature and seeing the interior away from the beach resorts then this tour is for you.

Daniel was fantastic. One of the best semi-private island tours we have done and this is a common thing we do for excursions on cruises. Constantly talking about the island, sharing information about plants, making the tour very interactive. Loved getting to try things...won't ruin the surprises. ;) Showed great care of guests, especially those with slower mobility. Highly recommended!

Daniel provided an amazing all day tour. We got to see so much of the island and exercise our legs with some engaging walking stops along the way. This was not just a sit in the car and sight see day. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting!

Daniel made our day

Alaynna_K, Mar 2026
Exceptional tour. Very pleasant. Daniel was wonderful. Very informative, personable, friendly, professional and just a great guide. He engaged with us and made our tour very enjoyable. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Best day ever!

Do not hesitate to book this excursion with Daniel! The botanical garden visit alone was worth the price.

Diane_Y, Feb 2026
Daniel was our tour guide and he was very enthusiastic, entertaining and seemed to genuinely care for our group. He took us to remote water falls not the popular tourist areas. Daniel wanted everyone to experience a taste of the local Martinique. Daniel shared a lot of information about the Island and the history that shaped Martinique. We learned a lot about the local plants , actually tasting ,smelling and touching them. Daniel was very knowledgeable and even shared information via email to all the participants. Be warned it is a tour with lots of walking , up and down hill and over uneven ground. We didn’t mind but it puts you through your paces if you aren’t used to it or have health issues that maybe be aggravated by exercise and heat. We had a great time. Daniel was knowledgeable, funny and interesting!

Rain day fun

Laurie_W, Feb 2026
Attention to detail! Daniel was fun, energetic, and knowledgeable! He loves his island and it shows! Even though it was a downpour during our tour, he persevered with a great attitude.Which uplifted us through the whole experience!

Outstanding experience!!

Daniel_A, Feb 2026
Daniel is very informative, and takes you to beautiful locations. You get to touch, smell, and taste local plant life. This was an experience we will never forget! We were on our honeymoon cruise when we took this excursion, and Daniel took pictures and videos on our Go Pro for us while we experienced everything so we could both be a part of the experience and have the memories. It was raining most of the day, and it didn't hamper the experience one bit. This was an outstanding tour, and we would love to have him as our guide all over the island when we come back!

Fun with Daniel

I’m certain this is the best North Island excursion one can book.

Laurence_A, Jan 2026
From the beginning to the end, I’d give Daniel and Virgil a 5 stars. They took us to some little gems, explained history and plants, rhum and plantations….. it was the best tour we could hope for. They took the time to explain our itinerary before we departed, and didn’t disappoint with the places they took us to.

Best of Martinique

This was a great experience! Our guide Virgil was awesome. He showed us the beauty of Martinique, gave us the history, and answered all of our questions along the way.

Exceptional small group tour of Martinique

claytonca561, Jan 2026
Our small group tour with Sebastian was exceptional! From the moment we set out, Sebastion shared his deep knowledge and passion for Martinique’s history, culture, and natural beauty. Thoughtful and well prepared, Sebastion provided umbrellas and walking sticks for our rainforest walk to the jungle waterfall, ensuring everyone was safe walking down the steps and across the rocky stream to the waterfall. During our stroll through the Domaine d’Emeraude botanical garden, Sebastion enthusiastically pointed out native plants and flowers, allowing plenty of time to take photos and enjoy the foliage. At the Depaz distillery, we enjoyed the views and the rum. In Saint-Pierre, Sebastion's brought to life the devastating impact of the 1902 volcanic eruption, which decimated the town. We thoroughly enjoyed the highlights of the north side of the island, but the true highlight was Sebastian himself—his insights, stories, attentiveness, and care for the group. This tour was expertly led, deeply enriching, and absolutely outstanding!

magnificent!

Virgil was super host taking tour in english! We had a blast and the tour was as agreed. We tasted herbs in botanical garden and rhum in the factory!

Perfect port day in Martinique

Thomas_M, Dec 2025
Great sampler of Martinique! Waterfalls, Rainforest, Botanical Gardens, Distillery and Beaches. Daniel is an energetic guide who is very knowledgeable about the area. Family friendly. Highly recommend!

Excellent tour of Martinique

Michael_S, Nov 2025
Daniel provided us with an excellent tour of Martinique. We were traveling on a cruise and couldn't find a good tour through the cruise line, so we came to Viator and found this excursion. Everything about the trip was excellent and would highly recommend this! Everything was exactly as spelled out in the itinerary and our favorite stops were the botanical gardens and the beach, but everything was great! Just a little warning if you get carsick, the roads can be a bit windy through the drive. However the views are excellent and in the mountains is a nice cool temperature compared to the beachside, which is a nice relief! Daniel was extremely knowledgeable and shared a wealth of information throughout the whole trip.

Amazing scenery.

Elizabeth_M, Nov 2025
It was an interesting tour but there were more water activities than described. Some in our group had mobility issues and were not able to participate in every activity. The scenery was amazing and our guides were very knowledgeable.

Wonderful day!

Kathleen_S, Nov 2025
Such a wonderful day!!! All of the experiences were wonderful. It was such a great sampling of all this island has to offer.

Great and wonder tour of Northern Martinique

Shamila_C, Jul 2025
We had a great time with Daniel exploring the island. We saw a lot and learned a lot. It’s such a nice way to experience the North of Martinique. So great!

Hi Margaret billions of thanks for your nice review. I'm very happy that you enjoyed your day with me. Their is 2 things that I cannot manage in my excursion is the weather and the lunch, as all the restaurants in Martinique are unable to manage the same quality service as in USA I choosed to take panini ar the botanical garden the cost of the panini is 8$ so I'm sure you can survive. Once you back to the ship you will be able to eat more. I'm really sorry but again I cannot manage the weather and the restaurants. Fluctuate nec mergitur

Excellent day tour in Martinique with Daniel!

diana_c, Mar 2025
We had a one-day cruise stop in Martinique and booked a day tour over Viator, where we had the opportunity to have Daniel as our tour guide. In a small group we discovered beautiful spots rather off the typical touristic trails, went within the rainforest, had beautiful stops at several waterfalls and a natural spa;) where we only met locals and no tourists:)...explored a rum estate and a beautiful botanical garden. The great thing was that Daniel was extremly knowleageble regarding the historical facts but also with all the plants we saw on the island which he explained to us in great detail:). "Reiben und riechen" is his quote staying with us as he gave us several leaves of trees/planta trying to explain to us theiruse on the island:). Thabk you for a wonderful day in Martinique dear Daniel!!!:D D&D

Perfect Day on Cruise Stop @ Martinique

Grant_T, Mar 2025
This was a terrific day exploring Martinique! We booked this while on a cruise stop on the island, and it was the perfect excursion. Daniel takes you to less obvious spots (which means fewer crowds!) that are stunningly beautiful. And as an extra bonus - he's a great photographer so he'll make sure you have plenty of photos to document the day. It's certainly a more adventurous and active day than some other excursions that simply took passengers to beaches, but I feel like we got a great overview of the island and really explored.

Great tour if you have a close to a full day to spend in Martinique

Christina_L, Mar 2025
The guide had excellent communication prior to the booking. There were no surprises. We really enjoyed the tour. I think the only thing I would’ve been OK with skipping was the rum distillery tour, but that’s just because we’ve seen so many of them. Everything else was amazing! The guide spoke English, which was a huge bonus. My husband and I liked that the tour moved along appropriately, but you still had enough time to enjoy things. I would highly recommend this tour! More detailed write-up coming soon about this tour on our travel blog: ordinaryvacationer.com

Great tour of the island

Very knowledgeable and great local lunch by the beach! Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and fun! Highly recommend!

Average Experience – Beautiful Scenery but Lacking Organization

Raymond_B, Mar 2025
The North Island Tour in Martinique had some beautiful sights, but overall, the experience was just okay. The island itself is stunning, and we enjoyed seeing the lush landscapes and coastal views. However, the tour felt a bit disorganized, with some stops feeling rushed while others dragged on too long. Our guide provided some interesting information, but at times, the commentary was limited, and we felt like we could have learned more about the history and culture of the island. Additionally, transportation could have been more comfortable. It wasn’t a bad tour, but it didn’t quite meet our expectations. With better pacing and organization, it could be a much more enjoyable experience.

Our tour operator, Daniel, was wonderful. He provided us so much information about the island and the different plants. There were a couple of stops that I could have gone without and that took up our rum tasting time. Disappointed we missed rum tasting.

Great trip
