Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the island and gave us information about government, schools and education, the history and culture of Martinique and its relationship to France and other Caribbean islands. She spoke English, French and Spanish(some) which was great as we had a variety of tourists in our group.
Our guide took good care of everyone, gave us a light snack and drinks, coins for the toilets, and helped explain the various spices at the little shop we visited. The Slave memorial was very interesting, visit was short as was the visit to Diamond Rock. Time at the rum tasting, beach and spice shop was longer. Tour involved approximately at least 2 hours of driving to get to the south side and back , just so you know . The travel time passed by fast as the information kept flowing the whole time.
I believe the guides knowledge and information along with the Slave Memorial made the highlights of this tour.

The guide was wonderful. The tour was good. Would have been better if I hadn't wasted a fair bit of time looking for people with Viator clothing. Please tell your clients another tour operator is actually doing the tour.
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Thank you for your feedback and for highlighting the quality of the guide and the tour. We truly appreciate your comment regarding the meeting point and the confusion with Viator identification. Your remark is very helpful, and we will make sure to clearly inform our clients in advance that the tour is operated by a local partner, to avoid any inconvenience in the future. Thank you again for sharing your experience, and we hope to welcome you again under smoother conditions.

We made many interesting stops but not enough time at each one espacially at the potery
village were we would need more time to see every shops. The market was closing when we got there so we didn't get much time there either. The guide gave us many informations about the life and history of martinique
Response from Host, Mar 2024
Hello Alain,
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We're pleased to hear that you found the stops on our tour interesting and enjoyed the insights provided by our guide regarding the life and history of Martinique.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the limited time at certain stops, particularly the pottery village and the market. Your comments about needing more time to explore the shops and the market's closing time will be taken into consideration as we review and adjust our tour itinerary to ensure a more balanced and fulfilling experience for our guests.
We appreciate your valuable input and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back for another visit, where we can provide an even better experience.
Best regards,
Lisa_H, Mar 2024
The tour was very good, and Rosie, our guide, was knowledgeable. The stops are several and fairly brief, so be sure you realize that if you want lunch, you'll need to pack something or use your time for grabbing a quick snack. I would caution people to be aware that public toilets were not always readily available and that you need a 20c euro coin to operate them. While I would recommend this tour to people, for those willing to rent a vehicle and drive, you may fare better, being able to stop at each place for your desired amount of time.
Response from Host, Mar 2024
Hello Lisa,
Thank you for your feedback! We're glad you enjoyed the tour and found Rosie knowledgeable. We appreciate your recommendation. Your insights are valuable, and we'll take them into account for future improvements. If you have any further comments or questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Best regards,

Unfortunately, we arrived on this island on a Sunday so businesses were closed. We did however, see some beautiful scenery with colorful flowers and gorgeous beaches. Had a very good tour guide who gave lots of interesting facts about the island. Really enjoyed the Anse Caffard Memorial dedicated to some slaves lost at sea. Also got to spend time at the beach. Not being a rum drinker, the rum demonstration was interesting but not meaningful.
Response from Host, Mar 2024
Hello Philip,
Thank you for sharing your experience. We're glad you enjoyed the beautiful scenery and found our tour guide informative. It's unfortunate that some businesses were closed due to arriving on a Sunday, but we're pleased you appreciated the Anse Caffard Memorial and your time at the beach. Your feedback on the rum demonstration is noted. We hope you had an overall enjoyable time on the island and would love to welcome you back for another visit in the future.
Best regards,
ROBIN_B, Mar 2024
Interesting tour with a very knowledgeable and friendly guide. Lots of stops and photo opps. Although be warned. If you take the tour on a Sunday, as we did, the pottery village is closed and really not worth a stop. The slave monument was moving and the distillery a charming place. Above all, the tour provides a glimpse into the beauty of this upscale Caribbean island without the crowds that comes with a ship excursion.
Response from Host, Mar 2024
Hello,
We are very happy to read your review, thank you! Lucile will be thrilled also. Our authentic south tour is definetely a great way to discover in a day the beauty of our island! Unfortunately yes, on Sunday it's difficult to ensure all shops openings especially early in the morning.
We hope to see you soon maybe on our north tour to discover our luxurious volcanic landscape and the charm of the northern island.
Best regards,

In my opinion the "Clay Village" is not a good choice to take tourists. The road leading in is rutted and rough, the village itself is in shambles, dirty, dusty. The bathrooms were atrocious, filthy and without water to flush. This village does not truly represent Martinique.
The tour staff were great , very helpful and accommodating.
Response from Host, Feb 2024
Dear John,
First, thank you for your review, we are happy to know you were please with our staff and transportation service.
On one hand, we understand your dissapointment concerning the " Clay village" as we can see your point of view concerning the inconvenients.
However, if we are taking our client to this spot, it is because the "Clay Village" bears a enormous historical and cultural interest. It is also for exemple, one of the first compagny of Martinique.
The entrance and access are indeed a little bit bumpy, and the place itself is not very modern, but we would like to put light on the crafshops, the local architecture and mainly the very talented artisans that are all witness of our Heritage.
On the other hand, we are trying to work with the actual owner in order to improve the general state so the place can meet all expectations. We will keep working on making the discovering of our culture as confortable and easy as possible for all !
Thank you again as you review will certainly help us moving foward to greater improvement.
Best regards,
Linzi_G, Feb 2024
A fantastic trip! Pick up from the port was really easy. Our tour guide Brice gave us so much information about the island, life, history and culture. The bus journey was quite long to reach the different locations but the views along the way were stunning so it seemed to go really quickly and didn’t seem like a long drive.
The guide and driver were very conscious to get us back to the cruise port in plenty of time so there was absolutely no worries with timings.
I would recommend this tour. It’s made me want to return to Martinique again in the future. I’d love to stay a bit longer and do the north island tour next time!
Response from Host, Feb 2024
Hello Linzi,
Thank you, your comment means a lot to us. We are verry happy that you enjoyed this South tour and that Brice did everything possible to make you feel comfortable and teach you more about Martinique.
We hope to see you again!! For the North tour this time.
Best regards

We genuinely had a fantastic day out on this tour! We didn’t feel rushed at all, and felt ample time was dedicated to each of the stops (of which there were many!)
We had plenty of opportunity to visit little local markets and source fresh fruit and locally made goods, as well as a rum taster at the distillery and plenty of beautiful sights! We really enjoyed visiting the memorial to the slaves, it just felt so powerful and peaceful at the same time!
Our tour guide (I think his name may have been Brice?) was absolutely fantastic - so knowledgeable and friendly! He brought a cool box with drinks (non alcoholic as well as a rum punch!) and this gorgeous box of home made cake for us to snack on throughout the day!
Overall we had a fantastic time on this trip and would highly recommend. Finding our guide and driver was super easy as they were waiting right outside the port, and everything ran perfectly on time, getting us back to our ship in plenty of time. This tour offered a far better itinerary than anything our cruise line offered, and was really worth going for!
Response from Host, Feb 2024
Hello Holly,
Thanks you a lot for your comment, our entire team is happy to know that you enjoyed the South Tour and all these wonders that you were able to visit during your gateway in Martinique with Brice.
We will pass on these beautiful compliments to him.
Hope to see you again,
King regards

I would not recommend this excursion on a Sunday especially during Carnival. The first stop at the pottery factory was a complete waste of time. It was not open and only 2 shops were open. The second stop was so so. The beach was packed, not enough time to really swim or snorkel. No chairs or umbrellas. We had to sit on a knee wall because we couldn’t get to our designated area. Could not visit the church because it was Sunday and church services were in progress. The 2 stops for pictures at Diamond Rock and the slave memorial were nice. We stopped at a market for 10 minutes, no time to do anything. The final stop at the rum distillery was basically a bathroom break and a little rum tasting. There was no tour of the distillery or explanation of the rum process.
You may be in a small group of 18 but the mini van is cramped with no leg room. Additionally, other vans from the same tour group show up so it is more crowded than they lead you to believe.
On a positive note, our guide Florence was knowledgeable, funny and full of energy. This made the excursion manageable. Our driver Marco was also friendly and an excellent driver.
I have used Viator when traveling in Europe and have found their excursions to be very good. This one was a disappointment.
Response from Host, Feb 2024
Hello James,
We are really sorry to see your comment. As you said, it was a Sunday and during carnival. Unfortunately this type of inconvenience cannot be controlled by our teams.
The pottery village is a beautiful place to see even when stores are closed. You can see the mangrove, the authentic architecture of the "cases creoles", and much more.
Despite everything, we hope that you enjoyed Martinique, our landscapes and each places you were able to go to during this day.
As you said, Florence your tour guide was great and we will share your feedback with her.
Joel_D, Feb 2024
I give a 4 stars, because the first stop in the potery was not so good. Find another excursion ;)
The guide was good and knew alots about the history of the Martinique.
Response from Host, Feb 2024
Hello Joel,
Thank you for your comment.
We are sorry that you didn't like the potery village it is a beautiful and historical place to see. You can see the mangrove, the authentic architecture of the "cases creoles", and much more.
Hope to see you again,
Best regards

Our driver/guide, Stephan, read his group well, mixing personal vignettes and jokes for an informative and enjoyable tour. When the AC in our van died, Stephan arranged for a new car, and since that added to the length of our stay at out first stop, he extended the length of the tour to compensate and ensure that we weren't shortchanged due to car problems. Bravo!
Response from Host, Dec 2023
Hello,
Thank you for your kind review, I'm sure Stephan will be very happy to read you, just like us! Sometimes we are experiencing unusual and unfortunate events, as we always trying to offer you the best experience, it is nice to know our effort are noticed and appreciated!

Cynthia_R, Feb 2023
We were disappointed that we were taken to the pottery place and it was closed. Why advertise something we weren't going to see because of it being Sunday. We were looking forward to seeing pottery from Martinique.
Response from Host, Feb 2023
Thank you Cynthia_R for your comment.
We are sorry, but the pottery was not closed, it was Sunday so some stores were closed but you could still enjoy the site and do some shopping.
We hope to have the opportunity to bring you full satisfaction next time.
Sincerely yours.

This was a great experience on our port day during our MSC cruise. We booked our tour a few weeks ahead of time, and it made our sightseeing day very much stress free. We met our guide/driver at the port 30 minutes ahead of schedule, so it was nice to begin our tour early. The guide was very professional and courtesy. She also was very knowledgeable about all the sites and the history.
feemitchell, Oct 2018
We were unfortunate with weather no-one's fault and so many of the planned stops couldn't take place. When I asked if we could stay longer in other stops the reply was surly and negative. The driver remarked how she had to get back for a certain time to pick up her children from school and we felt really rushed! despite booking and paying for a full day this was half-day in reality four hours. The sights were pretty given the weather but the driver really spoiled the day. As we were so rushed we didn't get time to stop for lunch and so had to stop at a take-out of her choice where the staff were incredibly rude. They were annoyed when I tried to speak in French despite having to speak the language when ordering items with French names such as Croissants! and the driver seemed unhappy about having us eat in her car despite no stop for food. At one point we were left in a dreary town where most shops were closed and she drove off for a period of time and we got lost trying to find her at the pick-up point as she wasn't where she said she would be and was obviously off running some personal errands! She was generally abrupt and not warm in the slightest. We had a much better day with a tour on the previous day with a different company so do some research the other company was also much cheaper. Oh and she added on extra charges for picking us up at our hotel per person! despite this apparently being included in the booking. I would recommend avoiding this tour.
Ronald S, Feb 2018
Our guide was Roslyn sp? who was very good.
Our tour was to begin about 11 AM but did not leave until 1 PM as other guests were on a cruise ship which was late coming in to port.
Roslyn took us to Sacre Coeur while we waited and provided information on Martinique.
We too were cruising and were concerned that we get back in time for our departure. Roslyn assured us that we would be back in time and we were.
Martinique is beautiful and Roslyn provided good commentary, information and background on the French Departments and life on Martinique.
