Fabulous tour and guide

Aziz was a fabulous tour guide and photographer. He showed us round some of Marrakech's best attractions. He was very knowledgeable and is clearly well respected. He went above and beyond to make sure we had lots of photographs taken which is something we often miss.

A holistic approach to Marrakesh; the good and the bad

We had a wonderful time with Achmed. A very insightful man that is very adept at the art of balancing history + politics to what would otherwise be just a walking tour. To start, we were not expecting to be taken to the old Jewish quarters of the city, which was a really interesting part of the tour as we did not know of the extensive Jewish history of Marrakesh. But I suppose that happens when you can see the Jema el Fnaa + Koutoubia area so quickly. We then went into an historic dormitory for a religious school where we were able to see some of the most beautiful tilework + wood ceiling artwork we've ever seen. So that was a nice surprise to the tour! When we got to the Bahia Palace, we somehow stumbled on this mother+daughter that wanted to tag along our tour. I guess that's fine? Not sure how that became our decision to make. Unfortunately that turned out to be her whole family of about 6, which was overbearing to say the least, but we ended having to kind of nudge Achmed to ditch them. Then we walked all along the old medina looking at all the different types of shops and markets, which was fascinating. Finally, Achmed ended up convincing us to ditch the secret garden part as it was very similar to some of the areas we had already seen. Fair enough, but then we went to a herbalism store where we were able to test various cosmetics products and learn about their manufacturing process. This part would've been cool had they not sold us a 170ml bottle of Argan oil that fit perfectly in a 100ml bottle :) Buyer beware! I guess even with a private tour you can't avoid these things - good thing we paid with a US credit card. A very nice tour with a couple of hiccups here and there. Wouldn't necessarily recommend in the future but overall mostly did it's job at showing us the good and the bad of Marrakesh.

Excellent guided tour of Marrakech!

Recognising my interest in the daily life of the people, Ahmed structured the tour differently; in addition to the usual historical sites, he included daily markets streets and places that gave me a sense of the city in a non-tourist sense. My 6hour tour through the city of Marrakech was fantastic, all thanks to my guide, Ahmed Echarkani.
