Toubkal summit 2-day trip from Marrakech with Radouane from Toubkal Hiking

I fitted in this overnight hike to the summit of mount Toubkal as part of my 1-week visit to Marrakech and I'm very glad I did. Comfortable hotel transfers to/from Imlil (1,800 meters), made things very easy. I highly recommend Toubkal Hiking, Radouane is an excellent guide and a lovely person to spend time with. Pick up was round 8am, it takes around 90mins to reach Imlil and then after a kit check (Radouane will provide you a list ahead of time-there's nothing on that list that you don't need) and bathroom stop, we were off. We went at a decent pace (my choice), it took us around 4hrs to reach the refuge (3,200meters). Don't carry huge amounts of water, there are more little mountain stalls than I've ever seen anywhere else and you can refuel all the way up. The refuge was more comfortable than anywhere I've experienced in many years of hiking in various places. It was not super busy so those in my room were able to spread out in the bunks which apparently are often pretty packed. There are showers with hot water available, the food is good and there's a little shop where you can buy snacks, drinks etc. Take toilet paper with you if you prefer a western style experience, you can always buy it in the shop if you forget. We set off for the summit around 4am and it took us about 2.5hours to get there and enjoy a beautiful sunrise. We spent plenty of time at the summit to take pics, have a quick snack etc and then Radouane & some fellow guides collected up a disappointing amount of rubbish that tourists had left behind up there and we carried down several bags full with us to the refuge. I left everything I didn't need for the summit at the refuge, I collected this when we returned, we had a quick cup of tea and then we set off to begin to make our way down the mountain again. It was probably around 9.30am when we left. We stopped for brunch/lunch at one of the mountain shops on the way down. The food was delicious. As a vegetarian I had no trouble with food at any time during my hike. We arrived back at Imlil a few hours later and I was lucky enough to have time to take a short detour and to sit and enjoy a cold bottle of coke with Radouane at the picturesque Imlil waterfalls. A real treat to end the trek on. I plan to return for the longer 3 or 6 day trek through more of the Atlas range in the future. I will not hesitate to recommend Radouane to you for any kind of hiking, cycling or even ski touring (check out his Insta: @radouane_outdoor)

Made it to the summit. It was a great journey, Toubkal was still covered in ice so a little tougher than I was expecting. Refuge was warm, decent food, and provided warm blankets.

I've been dreaming about this tour for a long time. And I was very lucky with the choice of this tour operator. Our guide Yousef is a wonderful and attentive guide. He speaks English fluently and tells a lot of interesting things about the mountains, about the culture and traditions. We went to the top at dawn, met the sunrise and went down to the hut. Everything was amazing: tea, lunch, dinner, tent. I will come back for a ski tour that these guys provide. Everything was at the highest level Thanks!!!🫶

I had a really nice experience on the hike. Both the parts of the hike have their own charm - rivers and waterfalls followed by snow and ice. We were both in good shape so Mohamed went at a fast pace with us - if you want to hike fast he's your guy. But he's also really nice & other reviews talked about him being slow and patient, so I'm sure he can adapt to any pace. Food was good and the accommodation was comfortable (for a refuge). The only downside was a bad driver on the transfer from Marrakesh, but I have mentioned this & they said they will avoid that driver in future.

Climbing Toubkal was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. The scenery is absolutely gorgeous. If you’re going in the winter, bring layers because the summit is COLD, but the snow topped mountains are breathtaking. We rented crampons and trekking poles in Imlil for $15 USD total per person, and there was a place to store luggage in Imlil. The hike was very steep and tougher than anticipated but not very technical. Our guide was pretty hands off but kind and we felt safe and well taken care of the entire time. The refuge had blankets/pillows but many people brought sleeping bags. You could buy beverages, snacks, and toilet paper at the refuge. You may want to bring eye mask/ear plugs as it gets loud with many shared rooms. The food was all good but we brought additional snacks for hiking. Everything was well organized by the company and all in all would definitely recommend this company for your trek!!

Super great but quite tough hike. If you do it in 2 days be prepared for a long and slow ascent during the very early morning on the second day! Don’t forget to bring headlamps and energy bars… Our guide, Mohamed, was the best and paced our hike to arrive at the summit at sunset!!!! Thanks again so much!

I loved every single bit of this trip!! Even tho, I didn't make it all the way to the top 😅 my guide, Mohamed, was the best! The nicest and most patient person you will ever meet. We took the hike the turtle speed and he did not mind or hurry me at all. The views were absolutely spectacular! And the lunch at one of the cafes on the way, was my favorite food I had while visiting 😊 highly, highly recommend to anybody who is looking for a great adventure and 2 days spent outside.
