This was our favourite experience during our visit to Marrakech! The class was perfectly organised from start to finish and gave us the best memories of our trip. Riad Nelia is beautiful and the staff are so welcoming and friendly, there was enough time to relax and we learnt so much about Moroccan tea and the traditional elements of Moroccan cooking. Youssef and the team explained everything so well and we didn’t feel rushed at all, the ingredients were prepared and cleaned ready for us to cook straight away. We all made an individual chicken tagine dish and enjoyed the final result eating together around the table which was really nice. Youssef is very knowledgeable and made sure we were well looked after, I cannot recommend this class enough! It is worth every penny!

We took part in a Moroccan cooking class where we learned how to make a traditional chicken tagine, and then got to sit down and enjoy the meal together afterwards — which was delicious and incredibly rewarding.
Our teacher was fantastic: knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely passionate about Moroccan cuisine. He explained the differences between various tagines, shared insights into Moroccan food culture, and even gave us a lovely introduction to Moroccan tea, herbs, and their history.
It was not just a cooking class, but a fascinating cultural and historical experience as well. Relaxed, informative, and great fun. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Morocco.

I booked this Moroccan cooking class on Viator for the last day of our vacation, and it turned into a complete disaster. At the last minute they tried to change the time on us or push it to the following day. Since it was our final day in Morocco, that was simply not possible.
Instead of taking responsibility, they shuffled things around and left us with no class, no experience, and no real solution. They took our money and we got absolutely nothing in return.
The way this place is run is disorganized, careless, and completely unprofessional. It honestly felt like the operation is run by imbeciles who have no respect for people’s time, schedules, or travel plans.
If you want a reliable, professional experience in Morocco, book with someone else.

We would like to clarify that we did not take your money. As soon as the issue arose, we immediately submitted your refund, and you will receive it within 2–3 business days, depending on Viator’s processing time.
Our team did their best to assist you. We clearly explained that we had a group class starting at 12:00, and we sincerely apologized for the confusion. We kindly asked if you could join the 15:00 afternoon class instead — an option many guests appreciate when scheduling adjustments are needed.
Unfortunately, your response to our team included disrespectful language, including calling our staff “imbeciles.” This was disrespectuf and unnecessary, especially as our team remained polite and tried to find a solution for you. We have full proof of the conversation, and our staff acted professionally at all times.
We understand that travel schedules can be tight, and we regret that the timing did not work for you. Nonetheless, we always strive to be respectful, transparent, and helpful with our guests.

From the guided walk (with historical context of the buildings, building materials, and population) to a local covered market to buy the ingredients for your meal, to a Tagine cooking masterclass atop a boutique riad with the Bahia Palace as your backdrop, this was an undeniably unforgettable experience for someone who wanted to learn and appreciate local history, culture, and the cooking and serving techniques in Moroccan cuisine.
With Head Chef Yousef and Sous Chef Huda, you will learn the ingredients for and how to brew and serve a perfect cup of Moroccan mint tea. They will also teach you how to select the perfect ingredients at the market place, how to pickle certain ingredients (eg. lemon and olives), blend spices for a mouthwatering palate, marinate different types of meats, and how to cook your Tagine to perfection ie. until the meat falls off the bone and the vegetables maintain their natural nutrients. You will then enjoy the delightful 3-course course meal at your leisure.
For me, it was a once in a lifetime experience worth - 100% value for money.

Excellent experience. Visit around market and then made a chicken tagine. Staff very helpful and got to eat our own prepared food followed by fresh fruit. Took place in a beautiful riad in the heard of the Marina. Well worth the experience.

It was a really lovely experience. Our guide took us to the market and absolutely went the extra mile in terms of the experience. Bought my wife flowers from me! Then made us feel at home back at the riad. We then cooked a great tagine all in a clean and welcome environment. Would recommend.

I would like to give a bing commendation Youssef, Saad, Huda, and Muhammed as they worked as a very effective and personable team in facilitating the cooking class. I was quite fortunate in that I traveled to Morocco in the slower season so I essentially I had a private session with all four of them attending to me. It was a testament that they were all fully engaged in teaching the class despite there only being one student. They were very adaptable to with their approach to teaching and engaging as I can be difficult in that I mostly learn by doing and working with my hands rather that getting talked at with expositions on expositions as I work as a professional chef for a living and my main goal of taking their class was to really learn the fundamentals of what makes up Moroccan Cuisine. I also wanted to bring what I learned back to my country as most moroccan restaurants in my part of the world appears to me to only be a caricature of the moroccan culture and falls short on authenticity. I feel confident that I was well informed from the immersive session I had at Nelia's.

Big thank you to the Team at Riad Nelia. We were greeted with smiles from everyone we met. The Riad is a place all the staff are rightly proud of. We had a tour of the Riad and it's sister Riad while our Targine was cooking and both establishments are stunning!
The cooking class started with a trip to the market with a funny and charming gentleman. The market was an eye opener and possibly something vegetarians might want to avoid. We enjoyed the emersive experience to get a proper feel of life in this beautiful country. The class was translated by Yousef who was welcoming, fun and made the experience really enjoyable. Huda was our chef who guided us through making chicken Targine. Everything was explained in detail mating sure we understood why we did each step.
While the pots were cooking we were treated to a neck and shoulder massage by Raja, this lady has magic hands.
The whole day was fabulous and we highly recommend it.

L'expérience de cours de cuisine avec Nelia et la visite du marché avec Youssef fût tellement plus que ce a quoi nous nous attendions! Il est encore difficile de trouver les mots.
Nous avons d'abord été accueillis par une expérience de thé. Puis, nous sommes allés faire les achats au marché. Youssef nous a donné de riches explications historiques et culturelles tout en visitant le "derb" (quartier) .C'est BEAUCOUP plus qu'un cours de cuisine,c'est une expérience culturelle incroyable.
Au marché, nous avons été accueillies chaleureusement par les commerçants. Youssef nous a donné des conseils d'achats. Nous avons d'ailleurs pu faire provision d'épices de qualité, à bon prix, pour la maison.
De retour au tiad,nous avons cuisiné,sur le toit, avec Nelia et Youssef. Vue sur les Atlas enneigés en bonus. De beaux échanges humains. Youssef est très attentionné et généreux en explications.
Nous avons dégusté le fruit de notre travail . Une tajine généreuse (peut-être un peu trop,nous avons dû beaucoup marcher ensuite ) ainsi que thé et biscuits pour terminer.
Une expérience de 5 heures qui a tellement passé vite. Mon amie et moi étions unanimes,c'était une des plus belles expériences de voyage de notre vie.
