Amazing
Except could only go one way on camel and decided to go in morning by car
Sunrise was amazing
Ivelena_G, Mar 2023
So we started our trip from Marrakech to Merzouga - they came to pick us up at 7am at the main square. The minibus was definitely not comfortable, poor air conditioner, if there was one at all. During the hottest hours of the day it was unbearable hot inside. The driver couldn’t speak English or any other language besides Arabic and it was really hard to understand him. No one explained us nothing. The main disappointment for me that day was Ait Benhaddou. We were told that we have 2 hours for this amazing place - we had only one with a local guide and one for lunch. The guide took us only half of the way, we didn’t even went to the top or the hill to see the panoramic. Thank god we left the group and explore the old town on our own. After that they led us to buy scarf for €15 which is crazy. We bought the same ones for 3€ the day after. At the restaurant the tour guide asked us for 4€ administration fee for the old town and of course, to tip him.. No tickets were provided and for me that was a scam with the fee- most probably it is free to get into the town. After that they left us at our hotel, only me and my boyfriend with no explanation why only the two of us are left in the middle of nowhere - as I said, the driver didn’t speak any English at all. Thanks god the hotel turn out to be amazing and that was one of the best rooms in Morocco so far for us. Unbelievable view, great hospitality and very clean - the hotel was - Citadelle Gorges.
We paid extra for the luxury camp and hotel, after reading probably all comments on trip advisor.
The next morning we left for the dessert. There again, no one tells you anything- they left us straight at the camels, and we didn’t know that we were going to be 3 or 4 hours and we left our language and big bottle of water to be brought to the camp.. so we had no water at all in the desert. But at least we had enough time to spend and enjoy , while some people arrived too late and were woke up at 4:30am to ride camels and do the sand boarding…
The camp for me was definitely not luxury, as we have paid for one. We didnt like the food at the restaurant at all, but that can be our preferences. There was fire and music as promised. The next morning our breakfast was from 6to 6:30 and to watch the sunrise but you don’t have time for both. We ride the camels to the road and waited for more than 1:30 hours to be taken from a shared taxi. Which was by far the more unpleasant experience- no air conditioner at all, windows open all the time, no music, drive talks on the phone all the time while driving, lawful restaurant again, we didn’t even eat that day because there were not available spots for us in the restaurant. And that was 7 hours trip, even 8.

First of all sorry if we didn't meet your expectations. Still, we'll have to provide more details about the situation so everyone reading this review can understand exactly. Sure we can not satisfy everyone and that's the nature of this industry. 1- day: We have not included the guide to not receive this type of complaints, which means you chose to go with the local guide and this is a total resoponsability of yourself which we can not be blamed for. 1 night: glad to hear that at least you were grateful for the quality of the hotel that we chose compared to the other companies using the same transport and I think you've checked with the other members of the group about their hotel quality etc. 2 day: everything is explained on the voucher and the tour description i don't know what was not clear, knowing that I'm available 24/7 and I've sent you several messages to check on you every day but you've never responded knowing that you've read them, at least I could have intervened and assisted. Day 3 and 1: regarding the AIR-CONDITIONING this can not be used in the hills, mountains and curvy roads otherwise it will break the engine and here comes the troubles and delays. 2nd night camp: the camp is a luxury one as it includes toilet and shower inside the tent and has an amazing quality services.
Please next time when a company get in touch with you, as per sincerity principal you should have responded to our messages. All in all we're deeply sorry if we didn't meet your expectations but this should have been reported instantly as you had internet during the ride, the hotel and even the desert camp

Great experience overall. We were on a minivan with 18 people in total from different tour groups plus the driver who were dropped off at different hotels or desert experiences. The driver had some good music at times at dropped us off at the locations or touristic restaurants. Long drives but once in a life time desert experience with camel rides. Luxury upgrade is probably worth it!

There are a million places to book the exactly same trip, and prices vary very much. I booked the medium-priced option from here, which turned out to be a good deal.
I was the only one from our group who had some kind of itinerary sent to me via WhatsApp - it was nice. I could also give feedback and agree on the details of pickup.
The first night hotel for me was La Fibule Du Dades. I highly recommend it. The room was very nice and comfortable, the dinner and breakfast were really good, but what made the place special was the atmosphere with a late-night Berber jam session with the hosts.
I eventually spent the desert night at the luxurious camp. It was nice, but the camp created some light pollution - there was surprisingly lot of it in the desert, so even if there were a million stars, you couldn't really see the Milky Way.
Along the way we stopped to see some nice locations, but also had a couple of what I think were unnecessary stops: Ouarzazate (which was only a 20-minute stop anyway) and a stroll on some plantation in Tinghir.
The biggest complaints are these:
1. Even though I had the itinerary, still things were happening by surprise. It was most annoying when arriving to the camel trek site and everybody started yelling at me to get on my camel while I had all my stuff unprepared. A tip 5 minutes earlier on things to come would help tremendously. Feels stupid to travel 10 hours to a location only to have 10 seconds to adjust to what's to come. Just keep your calm whatever happens.
2. The guides at each stop have to be paid at least some, even if not mentioned in the itinerary, and even if you'd rather have done without a guide. They will also take you to restaurants where everything costs 100 dirhams, but if you just go to a regular one next door the prices are half of that, so you aren't exactly forced to come - just expected to. If you keep this in mind and just accept it, you won't be disappointed.
3. The trip to Fes didn't go according to any itinerary, I was the only one from my group who wasn't returning to Marrakesh. So I waited and eventually was picked by some random taxi with a few people and not enough working seatbelts. The journey went well, but nobody had a clue what's happening other than we were heading to Fes.
You may also forget about the English speaking drivers, but they did their main job, driving, well.
All in all, a journey definitely worth every cent. Lots of experiences gained, and traveling through Morocco with Berber music playing in the car was also really nice. The only real disappointment was the Milky Way couldn't be seen, so keep that in mind if that's the main thing you are expecting, too.
