AMAZING AMAZON TRIP

I am solo traveler by nature. This trip was amazing!! Eddie, the red head guide was awesome, very nice and knowledgeable, his English is pretty good and did every thing to make sure I was ok and happy. Every thing was well Planned coordinated and implemented The lodge was VERY VERY NICE, wish my stay had been longer…the staff there were also super nice…

Quite Disappointing - Not Value for Money

Having read the description of the tour and the high price paid we were quite excited to live an amazing experience as in other lodges we had been to. The English speaking driver Celio was very nice and helpful (5 star), The guide was good too, trying his best within his limits (4 stars), The 2 hours boat ride on the wonderful Rio Negro river was appreciated, specially the calm mirror looking water with the reflections of the tall trees. We also liked the meeting with the indigenous people. However, the lodge was the worst we have ever been to, specially at the price charged, The room and bathroom were disgusting and the bedsheets/pillows were dirty, it seemed that these had not been changed for a while. The food was the same at each meal and tasteless. No hygiene. A lodge could be quite simple but clean, hygienic and attractive. Alligators were 2 baby ones near the lodge and hardly visible while fishing was another scam. Apparently it rains most of the time so the probability of watching the sunrise is very low. As for the price Viator should visit the places to ensure that they up to a certain minimum standard. We guess that the owner of the lodge was charging a reasonable price but Viator's local travel agent was exaggerating, for example for aircon in the room we were asked us $100 pp per night, i.e $200 per room per night( have it in writing) while on sight the charge by the sympathetic owner was $30 per room per night which was appropriate!! It's not the lodge owner who is responsible as he may certainly have a price which matches the standard level of his lodge. The same price for that tour with another higher standard lodge or a lower price for the same lodge could be justified. Sooo glad we did not spend more than a night there.

We have mailed the jungle lodge owner about the cleaning issues, but please keep in mind that it is hard to have staff in the jungle, the owner makes a huge effort to accomplish the tours and standards of a jungle lodge. About the rains, the Amazon has 2 seasons only: dry from august to december and moderate to rainy from january to july, you came during rainy season. Every night we have the cayman chasing tour, but as wild animals we do not get to see them everyday, we explain that to all of our guests. We have offered you other lodges with better quality, but you have requested the cheapest option. We hope to seeing you again in the Amazon one day! Best regards.

Pros: Different from your typical tours, Fabio our English tour guy was great and always went out of reach to make our experience more enjoyable. Cons the two day tour doesn't give you the option to buy ac.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The cabins were smelly and the food was the same both days, fried fish , rice and beans and fruit. The pool was green when we arrived but after 4 lbs of chlorine you could see the bottom by the next morning. With a little more organization and capital it could get 4 -5 stars easily but the effort wasn't there. If it was for the great guide and everyone's hospitality I would not recommend it.

I had a great experience with this tour. Fabio, the guide, was amazing. Everything was smooth and on time. The only improvements could be the cleanliness of the hotel and the final speed boat transfer to hotel drop off. The final guide tried to leave immediately without helping me find my ride.
