Meet your chef at the Atarazanas Market in Malaga and set out exploring the food stalls. Wander around the stands of the indoor market as your chef talks about the fresh fruit, vegetables and delicacies on display. Then, with your chef, pick up the best ingredients for making your paella.
Next, stroll to the cooking venue, situated just five minutes’ walk away in the city's arty Soho district. Head into the modern kitchen and enjoy a tasting of delicious local snacks. Sample tidbits such as roasted almonds, Aloreña olives (olives local to Malaga), extra virgin olive oils and tostón de bacalao, a popular delicacy of cateto bread (rustic, thick-crusted bread) topped with salt cod and orange.
Before starting your paella, whizz up a gazpacho, a much-loved Andalucian chilled soup usually made with raw tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers. Then, make your paella with step-by-step direction and tips from your chef. Learn about the rice and ingredients to use, and start by making a sofrito base sauce before gradually bringing together your paella ingredients in the pan.
Finally, join your fellow cooks and savor your creations teamed with a beer or regional wine, and followed by fresh fruits. Your experience concludes when you leave the kitchen.

This was awesome! The tour of the market was leaf by the energetic and knowledgeable, Carmen. Pepo was a patience and hands on chef! Ultimately, the company and the food was unmatched.

Around sixteen people took the class. Everyone was very friendly. We walked to the food market nearby with Carmen and were taught how to make sangria and cook paella with Alba. We also enjoyed tasting various olive oils and were treated to fresh churros made by Alba at the end of the class.

After waiting nearly 20 minutes at the meeting point and finally getting a response to our multiple inquiries via the Viator app, we were informed that we were at an old meeting point. We had checked the Viator app multiple times before leaving our accommodations and there was nothing about a change in the meeting location. Once we heard back from Jose he was helpful in getting us to the correct location to join the group. But we missed the first 40 minutes of the tour. Jose told us this has happened multiple times before and it wasn’t our fault. Very disappointing that Viator and/or the vendor aren’t doing a good job of keeping their customers informed of the correct meeting location.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re truly sorry for the confusion at the start of your tour and that you missed part of the experience. We understand how frustrating that must have been. We’ll make sure your comments are taken into account so future guests have a smoother start, and we really appreciate your kind words about Jose’s help once you connected with the group.
We hope the rest of your evening was enjoyable, and that we’ll have the chance to welcome you again for a full experience next time.

The best paella I’ve ever tried. The class was very hands on, the flavors were amazing. It was definitely a great experience. The additional recipes for gazpacho, churros and sangria were a bonus. I will definitely recommend it and will love to take more classes the next time I’m in Malaga

An excellent experience with a helpful and knowledgable guide and an excellent chef.
The group enjoyed each others company particularly when the knives went away
One disappointment, we were promised the recipe for the dishes we made but these never arrived despite making a further request

This experience was outstanding. Jose was a great host and full of enthusiasm. Best Paella I have ever tasted but of course I would say that as it was cooked by me but all credit goes to the amazing chef who used first class ingredients to help me make it.

Walking through the incredible market was so interesting, and our guide, Anais, stopped ofteni to answer questions and offer explanations. From there, she led us on the short (about 10 minute) walk to the cooking class, which was fantastic. Anais was knowledgeable, articulate, and friendly. She shared so much information about the area and the food, even before the class. Our chef (sorry, I’ve forgotten her name) was also terrific and gave us a wonderful cooking experience. We did some prep and then Anais led us in an olive oil tasting. She also supported us in all aspects of the class. We worked in pairs as Chef gave clear directions and came around to assist. She made it fun and easy, and then we sat down to eat our individual paellas, along with homemade sangria. There was a non-alcohol option as well. We were even treated to a special surprise dessert. We enjoyed interacting with others while cooking and eating. Chef and Anais created a warm and friendly atmosphere; we found the entire experience to be delightful and would definitely do it again. Thanks so much to Anais and our chef!

This class- tour was so fun and a must do in Malaga! Jose was our guide and Alba the Chef. Both were great! Jose was friendly and very knowledgeable. We enjoyed our tour of the market in Malaga with a local. Alba had everything prepped and ready and instructed our group very carefully on how to cook paella, churros and Sangria. The facility was very clean and modern. It was a lovely time meeting and talking with others from around the world.

Fantastic tour, Javier was so knowledgeable and welcoming to the group. We had so much fun and enjoyed learning about the history of Malaga and the market. He took the time to chat with everyone and make connections outside of the tour. The class was also amazing and we had so much fun doing it and can’t wait to try the recipient at home. Can not recommend this tour enough and will be recommending it to friends back home.

Our tour started with a visit to the market while learning about Malaga's history. We then enjoyed a wonderful time making not only paella, but also gazpacho and sangria. Our host, Fernando, was engaging and knowledgeable about both the food and history. Our group consisted of a 3 generation family, retired singles, and couples. A great experience for all!

Amazing time with Anas and Fernando doing this class. Spent the weekend in Malaga for a Hen Weekend, 10 of us did this market tour and class and they both made it a really fun, enjoyable and relaxed environment. Lots of great food, wine and sangria and learned a lot as well. The tour before hand was a great way to see the market and picked up some bits to bring home. Would definitely recommend this experience

What an amazing experience. The Paella class was one of the highlights of our trip to Malaga. It was held in a beautifully appointed kitchen with plenty of room for all of us to cook. There were about 16 students, our teacher, Ampora, and her assistant Felipe. Ampora doesn't speak English and Felipe translated but that didn't keep her from communicating with us. Her love of cooking and knowledge was apparent throughout. The paella was easy to make and we were given lots of tips to make ours at home turn out. We also made gazpacho, which was also delicious. After creating our masterpieces one paella per two students, we sat down to eat and had a wonderful local white wine to go with it. We also munched on local almonds, roasted and salted, and local olives. This is definitely something to experience while in Malaga. We really loved it!
jcalautti, Aug 2017
This class was fantastic! Felipe our guide was extremely knowledgeable, informative and patient with a very good grasp of the English language. Ampara, the chef was also very nice, a master of her craft and great with my ten year old son, trying and succeeding in keeping him interested. The end result, our delicious paella was even better than I was expecting and I can't wait to get back home to try and recreate our masterpiece for family and friends. I would not hesitate, in fact I strongly encourage anyone spending a few days in Malaga to enrol in this course.

This class was a highlight of our trip to Spain! My girls and I had a fabulous time! Our guide Felipe was excellent, and the Spanish chef who worked with us was wonderful! My girls are vegan, and the chef tailored their paella to their vegan diet. We also made gazpacho together. The time at the market was fun, too.
