Itinerary

When your ship docks at Malaga cruise terminal, get to know the picturesque Spanish city on a hop-on, hop-off bus tour. Simply board the open-top, double-decker City Sightseeing bus and discover the best attractions of this lovely seaside city, famous as the birthplace of Pablo Picasso and known for its tree-lined boulevards and golden sandy beaches.

Sit back and absorb the views as you learn about the landmarks and the city’s history from the onboard, recorded audio commentary. Admire the leafy boulevards and lush parks, and drink in the views of the handsome architecture and sweeping sands.

When you’re ready, hop off at any of the 19 stops around the city to sightsee as you wish. Perhaps step off to visit the city’s imposing cathedral and learn why it’s called La Manquita ("the one-armed lady" in Spanish).

Maybe immerse yourself in Picasso’s art at the Picasso Museum (Museo Picasso Málaga); stroll around the glorious Botanical Gardens (Jardín Botánico); or visit Gibralfaro Castle (Castillo de Gibralfaro), the medieval fortress perched above the city. They’re just a few of the many activities you can enjoy during your hop-on, hop-off tour.

Your City Sightseeing pass is valid for 24 or 48 hours from first use, letting you create your own sightseeing itinerary. Buses depart every 30 minutes from each stop.

The Hop-on, hop-off buses stop just a 10-minute walk from the cruise port, so you determine the time you return to your ship in Malaga. Please allow yourself ample time to enjoy the tour and ensure your timely return to the port. This excursion is not covered by our worry-free policy.

We weren't able to take this excursion because the place to pick up the voucher was in another part of the city that we couldn't get to in time. It would have been better to be able to get the voucher at one of the stops the bus made on its route.

We went to go to bus by port to start our tour but they close the door and we are sold out until 1:39 in afternoon thus was 10 in the morning we couldn’t wait that long and I send message to driver in morning but no response we need to get a refund horrible service

It is just ok. They have someone right at the bus who scanned your code, which was super great. However, the buses were so full, that you hesitated to get off at any sites, because you might have to wait for a really long time to be able to get back on. Also, some of the recorded messages about the sites came on too late and you were past the site. Not horrible, but I would not repeat it again.

Disappointing

The bus made exceptionally long stops along the way. The hop on staff located at each stop boarded and had lengthy conversations with the driver. It was a very hot day and at each 10 minute stop, the doors were left wide open and any cooler air was gone. Our experience was much worse than any other Hop on tour that we did in other cities.

We had a two hour wait to get on the bus. Instructions said the tour operates from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm; however, they were loading the bus as early as 8:00 am. The one place we wanted to see, the Picasso Museum, was impossible due to the amount of time it took to get on the bus. There was no where to sit down or get out of the sun while waiting to load. One person fainted from the heat. There was no one directing/policing passengers which caused issues within the crowd due to people who continuously tried to cut in front of others. This was an extremely unorganized operation and it did not matter whether you purchase through Viator or the cruise line.

My husband and I were disappointed on the Malaga, Spain Hop On Hop Off Bus in March 2020. Planning ahead, I emailed where to meet this bus after our cruise ship arrives at the Malaga Port. Received email to meet at nearby light house and I printed local map. NO. Found the bus to the side of port terminal after being confused and asking. Secondly, the bus route brochures were all in Spanish. I asked for one in English; the bus employee response shrugged her shoulders. ) : Related these needed improvements previously. Obviously, management can improve customer service.

Having gone to Malaga before, we expected to see some of the sites we visited before. However, this time we saw another part of Malaga that was just as exciting as the first time. It is a beautiful city full of history and architectural designs. It is a big and busy city but easier to move about.

Really enjoyed the hop-On and Hop-Off bus. Great way to see Malaga for the first time. Audio headsets provide non-stop information about the sights you are seeing. They were also available in several languages.

Viator never returned my emails of which I asked the questions of where we had to go to get on the hop on hop off bus. The lines were always very long even when we had bought the tickets on line. The only advantage is you save a few bucks but they over sell and the waiting under the sun was not fun.
