Itinerary

Your hop-on hop-off tour starts at Estacion Bus (Main Bus Station), but you can board the City Sightseeing bus and exchange your voucher at any one of the 14 stops around the city.

Climb to the top deck of the bus to enjoy an excellent vantage point of monuments such as the Plaza de Toros Bull Ring, and the Castillo de Gibralfaro that sits atop Mount Gibralfaro. Hop off to explore the historic Plaza de la Merced, the birthplace of Picasso, the Picasso Museum, and hear the history behind each site from the onboard audio commentary.

Hop off and on the bus as many times as you like during the 24-hour validity period of your ticket and then rejoin the route at any one of 14 stops.

Great Bang for Your Buck

First and foremost, there are MANY things to experience in Malaga! I do not know why people have indicated that there were only three things to see in this location! There are so m any attractions and the Hop on and Off Bus is the best way to see it! We started from the cruise port. I did order my tickets in advance, but you can purchase tickets onsite. The buses were there waiting for us when we arrived! There was no problem with frequency of getting a bus for pick up and we never experienced over crowding. The narrating of the sights was perfect and clear. I highly recommend this tour, for Malaga!

Disabled people beware! Only one space per bus.

We were turned away from the bus due to my traveling with a mobility scooter. There is only one space for one wheelchair, and there was a person ahead of us who took that space. We were told there would be another bus along in 10 minutes that we could take. We waited for more than 30 before giving up. We were in the sun at the stop, so that made it worse. We asked the company for a refund, but haven’t heard back from them. By the way, the driver never opened up the wheelchair ramp, so the people who did get on lifted their son up into the bus. I’m really disgusted.

Less than ideal ~ Malaga City Sightseeing Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour

We took the City Sightseeing Malaga Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour and do not recommend it. There were times we waited well over an hour for a bus. We went to board one bus to be told it was “for show”, did not take passengers. Instead, a staff member, who wouldn’t tell us her name, suggested we walk to a different route, as the bus was at least an hour out. The app is supposed to give real time location of buses; however, it didn’t work. We did enjoy both the Automobile and Fashion Museum, as well as the MIMMA (Interactive Music Museum), which included a Flamenco Show. We were told that the Castillo de Gibralfaro admission, was included – it was not. We were also told there was a promotion with the Hard Rock Café, for food, drink and a 15% discount on merchandise, but that was an “error” and we were not entitled to that.

Bus sight seeing tour

Lovely polite staff. Not the bus tours fault but the weather was terrible, heavy rain and quite cold. We sat upstairs initially which had a roof covering however the sides were exposed to the weather so we very quickly got quite wet. We went downstairs as we were so cold. I imagine in better weather conditions this would be an excellent activity as the bus did travel to all the main areas of the city and the audio guide was informative and interesting.

City overview

Nice way to get an overview of the city. We didn’t have to wait long for a ride and it dropped us off at the cruise terminal. Because the earphone jacks weren’t working we learned very little about the city itself but saw a lot. The route DOES take you close to major attractions including the Picasso Museum. If you are an art lover - it is a must see!

Would give it a 3 star. They wanted to charge me €1 euro for the map at the cruise port. Also at the cruise port they didn’t want to give me the 10% discount for repeat purchase. I should really give it two stars, they skipped stop 13 and 14. I wanted off at #13 to walk to #4 to save time. Nope, a big 20-25 minute silence on the earphones and then we were back at stop #1. If I got to stop 13 and walked to 4 like my plan. I would’ve made the boat ride. Major disappointment.

Buses are infrequent in arriving at stops. One of the routes had a 75 minute wait per stop. Some of the stops are not well marked and it’s hard to tell where to get on buses. They advertise 24 hours, but the printed schedule doesn’t show that.

Some stops were difficult to find as there was no clear HOHO signage but all in all it was a great way to visit the city. It covered all the important areas. The drive up to Gibralfaro was a highlight - cool views. (One thing to note was - if you are sitting on the upper deck - to be careful of the trees and branches that might hit your head. There was no announcement on it on the recording so u might be surprised or get hit accidentally by low lying branches. They should add such announcement. In Athens HOHO same company - there was such announcement on board)

Wasted day

We traveled on one bus only as so many were apparently cancelled. We waited 1.30 hours for a bus at stop 8 only to find via a kind Spanish lady who called the central office that stops 5,6,8 we're no longer being served on 8th December 2024. We walked and waited at stop 9 for a further period of time when we regrettably gave up. This was a reunion holiday between friends of 46 years, the day was to totally spoilt and money wasted. I would expect a refund.

Once We Finally Got a Bus...

The company was actively selling tickets inside the cruise terminal when multiple ships were docked, but we had to wait over an hour to finally board a bus. Based on the ticket sales, more buses needed to be added as the buses were full when they arrived to the cruise port stop and only 4 passengers or so were able to board the arriving bus. When we got on, the line was still very long. We were afraid to get off, however, due to seeing the lines of people waiting to get back on at the various stops. That said, the the audio was among the best we've had. Compliments to our driver for being able to navigate the tiny, twisty roads through the town. It was a great overview of the town and we do recommend the tour.

Not a Good Experience

This was not a good experience. Used the bus for one stop to go to the car museum. When we came out of the museum we waited over one hour for another bus. Then we traveled a few stops to be asked to change bus. We did not get off the bus again, just incase we had to wait a long time for another bus. Not worth the money. We were all very disappointed.

Always good to use Hop On/Hop off to get your bearings in a new city. Narration is pretty skimpy but adequate.

There was a lit of time on the bus,but nit a lot to see so probably a bit expensive for what it was. Still it's a good way to get your bearings when you arrive in a place. Also it was a bit confusing about stops.. the recoding didn't go with where we were.
