Chris was a great tour guide for the day. SUPER knowledgeable about all things LA and he even knew the types of trees and flowers we were walking by. It was about a 3 hour leisurely walk around downtown. Anyone could do it! We unfortunately didn't get to ride Angel's Flight because it was having some issues but Chris was so kind and tried to offer us money back for not being able to ride it. Can't say enough good things about Chris! He even bought us waters in little Tokyo when we stopped for our treat. Definitely recommend Chris and this tour! Thank you :)

Chris, our guide, was very knowledgeable and adapted the tour to the weather conditions and the group's abilities. It was an enjoyable experience and showed us a different side of Los Angeles — places we wouldn't have visited on our own.

I am so glad I took this tour instead of wandering around LA on my own. Chris is a brilliant guide: knowledgeable about LA architecture, honest about the city’s history, and truly able to convey what life has been like “downtown” for regular people. On the tour, I learned to appreciate Gehry’s concert hall and tried mochi for the first time. But I was especially moved by the Biddy Mason memorial wall and the Little Tokyo sidewalk with storefront histories and resident quotes embedded in brass – two public design gems that I wouldn’t have known about if they hadn’t been on the tour. Overall, Chris was enthusiastic, insightful, and considerate. I look forward to taking more of his tours when I return to LA. Highly recommended!

Exploring neighborhoods like Hollywood and Downtown can be underwhelming if no one is there to help communicate the history or show you the important easily-missed details. With a good tour, an area like downtown becomes one of the most fascinating part of our city! There is so much along our tour route and even more to see beyond our tour in downtown. Downtown doesn't have the best image but, while it isn't perfect, there is so much potential in Downtown. There's amazing history and architecture to discuss on blick of our tour. Excellent guide! Good coverage of the downtown area, with one observation: there is not a lot of mention about the influence of Mexican/Spanish founders, and perhaps a visit to Plaza Olvera could be included.

Hi! Thank you for leaving this review. We could definitely go to Olvera Street and discuss more of that history, but there are a few reasons why we don't. I used to go to Olvera Street with other tours and companies I have worked on/with, so I know that there are more tours that go there. There weren't as many options to show visitors Little Tokyo and discuss the history of Japanese immigration when I made this tour. Little Tokyo also works for a closed loop route, which I prefer when possible. It is a lot easier for visitors if we end where we begin for parking, planning, navigation, etc... It would be nearly impossible to create a route that could go all the way to Olvera Street from the Civic Center and then go all the way back to Little Tokyo, then see our usual Historic Core locations before ending at the market without adding an hr (3hrs is already a decently long tour!) I love Olvera Street, its history, and even just took a bus full of Rose Bowl visitors there. Something I could do is try to add some slides to the slideshow with more pictures of that area and information, so visitors are more aware of that history and part of downtown. Thank you again for this review, I will definitely try to incorporate your feedback!

First and foremost, this was the best tour I did in LA easily. Forget the Hollywood celebrities and all that jazz-Chris is an LA expert and it really shows in his dynamic tour. He has a wealth of experience coming from doing tours in Chicago and it shows. He brings the city of LA to life in a new and fascinating way I don't believe any film can capture. I highly recommend his tour and his hospitality is absolutely incredible!!!

My husband and I have lived in the South Bay for over 30 years but knew little about the history and architecture of DTLA. We booked this walking tour based on other reviews and it did not disappoint. Lucked out and had a private tour with Chris. He knows so much and was a really delightful tour guide.
