We had a great time the boat driver/ tour guide really made it fun for the kids which was a plus. We saw sea lions and alot of fish on the glass bottom as well as at the top of the boat where he allowed us to feed the fish.

We took the 45-minute glass bottom boat tour today and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience.
The main reason we booked this tour was to view marine life through the glass bottom. However, we were only allowed to sit downstairs for about 10 minutes, during which we saw just one small group of fish. After that, we were told to go upstairs and rotate with another group. If the tour is advertised as a glass bottom experience, there should be enough time for all guests to properly enjoy it. It seemed like too many passengers were accepted, which limited everyone’s viewing time.
Instead of focusing on showing marine life, the tour guide (who was also operating the boat) allowed several children to spend a long time taking turns at the wheel, pretending to drive the boat and taking photos. Meanwhile, we were not able to view more fish. When I politely asked to take one photo at the wheel, he told me to let the kids go first. After waiting, I asked again and he responded impatiently and rudely, telling me I needed to come immediately. His tone and attitude were unprofessional, so I decided not to take the photo at all.
Additionally, while waiting under the sun for approximately 30 minutes, my spouse began to feel extremely dizzy and developed a headache. She asked if she could go downstairs to sit inside the boat, but the Tour guide hesitated. Only when she was close to fainting did he allow her to go below. She felt very sick after the tour and was extremely disappointed.
When I asked why we only saw one group of fish, he said the storm caused the yellow fish to hide. That explanation did not seem convincing, especially given the advertising expectations.
Even if the tour price was not very high, the overall experience felt poorly managed, unprofessional, and not worth the time or money. Customer service and safety should always come first. Unfortunately, this experience did not meet even basic expectations.

Hi Ann, thanks for this thorough review and I hope you and your spouse had a great anniversary despite us not fulfilling your expectations.
After reading your review here are the main points of concern I’m gathering:
1.Not enough time downstairs to view fish.
2. Kids driving boat rather than viewing fish.
3. Spouse feeling sick in sun, Captain's hesitation.
4. One group of fish rather than multiple.
5. Customer service and safety should come first.
Thanks again for this review, as there are things I want to address.
Not enough time downstairs, while the itinerary does state the tour starts on the top deck to look at birds and sea lions and get local history before going downstairs, I do realize that everyone may not read that and I could offer more time frames within that. So I will be editing that, thank you.
We are a very family based business and love making memories for kids, so we let the kids steer the boat with the captain to make some fun memories. We typically limit this activity to kids and adults understand that as we don’t simply have the time to let every person steer the boat. There are other times that are good for taking photos and I reminded our crew of that so we can try and give all our guests that extra experience.
I’m sorry your spouse wasn’t feeling well. If customers don’t feel well, going downstairs is not normally our first thought as the environment upstairs is better suited. Therefore I understand our captain's hesitation to let a sick passenger go downstairs.
We pride ourselves on the fish we see. The fish come close to the boat and our customers get a cool, almost aquarium-like view. Sometimes due to time of the year or weather some fish might not be present. The “yellow fish” which I’m assuming is our state fish, garibaldi, orange in color, lives and hides next to the rocks. After a big storm the water is typically stirred up and merkier making it difficult to see the garibaldi in the rocks. While we are lucky that Mother Nature doesn’t do this to us often in our beautiful Southern California, occasionally it does happen, as did the days before your trip with a big winter storm.
Customer service and safety should come first. We couldn’t agree more. We do our best to provide smiles and happy interactions with all of our customers. We run a very scheduled trip with a set plan. When customers don't agree with this plan or have different expectations as it appears you did, and we have to stick to our plan, I can see how a customer can feel this is bad customer service. As for safety we have reviewed this situation that presented itself and agreed upon a game plan in the future.
Once again thank you for the review; you did not mention the first half of the tour that includes the local history, bird sightings and the dock full of sea lions that customers often greatly appreciate. I hope you were able to find joy in those things as well and I hope you and your spouse had a otherwise wonderful anniversary.

i wouldn’t say that “glass bottom” is an accurate description of what the boat is but jake was a great host and very fun!
Ms_H, Dec 2025
My family and I really enjoyed our time, it was well worth it! Captain Jake was really awesome!! He even allowed her to experience being the Captain for awhile. Her 7th birthday just passed so she was so ecstatic!
Nancy_A, Oct 2025
The Captain was very patient with our reluctant three year-old. Our toddler soon warmed up and had a wonderful time viewing the fishes and stingrays from the glass bottom boat. The sea lions were also a big hit.

Great experience! My daughter really enjoyed it - if you have a kiddo who’s into boating, the ocean, seals, or sea creatures, I highly recommend this glass bottom boat tour! The kind captain even let her drive the boat! 😍
Rebecca_H, Aug 2025
So much fun. Very informative. Jake our Captain was great with the kids and let them steer the boat! He was super friendly! Made all passengers feel welcomed!
Aryn_Y, Aug 2025
I didn’t expect to learn the history of the harbor, so that was a nice treat. The captain was entertaining and engaging and make the trip a fun time. I recommend it to anyone who wants to learn more about Redondo and SoCal waters or if you just want a break from being on shore. It was both educational and fun. Highly recommend.
Antonia_W, Jul 2025
We had a great time! Our captain Jim was so patient with our kids. They walked off asking if we could do it again!
Linda_S, Jul 2025
The captain was wonderful. I learned so much history. I received as promised a fabulous trip and I got to see sea lions beautiful ocean fish and a great Captain of the Ship. I will do this again and tell everyone I know about a beautiful way to spend an afternoon.

It was great for the kids as they enjoyed it and the captain was engaging throughout the trip. The price was very reasonable for the whole experience.

Lots of fish to see from down below. Captain very knowledgeable of area. Sea lions birds. Smooth ride
Eileen_C, Mar 2025
Great for kids! Length of ride is just right for younger ones. Lovely guide. Highly recommend. Also a good value.

My two daughters and five grandkids had a great time. The kids had never been on a boat, so this was a nice introduction for them. The boat trip goes around to where you see seals, so that was exciting for the kids. The bottom glass to view fishes was good, being that the water is not very clear, but still a good experience. The tour was top level and bottom level boat ride, so my daughters really liked that you get to be on deck as well. The captain was friendly and patient with the kids. The kids had fun taking turns, wearing a captain hat for a picture at the wheel.
Jay_K, Dec 2024
My daughter and I are locals and we enjoyed the tour very much. It was a great way to get out on the water and learn a little more about our beautiful area. A+ for the adventure guide!
FELICIA_M, Dec 2024
Captain was the BEST. Very informative and great knowledge of history. The kids really enjoyed it as did the adults. He even let them drive the boat🫣❤️
Alan_S, Dec 2024
Friendly tour guide with a wealth of information ✨️ The boat ride was nice and smooth. Plenty of fish to see. Overall a great experience
Lily_L, Nov 2024
It was a very, very pleasant experience. Being a local person from Los Angeles area, I learned much from the captain about the history Redondo Beach Pier. The vivid view of seeing the many fish under water was so exciting!!!
Peter_P, Nov 2024
Rain or shine, this boat tour is a must! See sea lions, fish, and more while learning local history!
YinYin_T, Nov 2024
It was great experience to see so many fishes and seals. Captain is knowledgeable. Have lots of fun.
Demi_D, Sep 2024
We had the best time ever with the best Captain. We took a trip around the immediate area. We seen lots of fish, sea lion, and stingrays. The kids also became Captain for a period of time. We can’t wait to go with are friends and family!
Kevin_S, Sep 2024
This was a very pleasant experience! The captain has a great sense of humor! We really liked how he allowed the children on the boat to participate by being able to steer the ship for a couple of minutes. Totally worth the money ! I would totally recommend this to anyone visiting the area. we actually had gotten there earlier and we’re scheduled for a 230 departure. But they were kind and let us get on the earlier trip. Everyone was very friendly and helpful! We are able to see quite a bit of different Marin life. The captain pointed out all the different species of fish and knew all about their habits. All in all it was a fantastic experience. I would totally recommend it anytime. We will probably be back with our grandchildren at another date.
Viktor_S, Sep 2024
The captain. Very personable, informative, and great with kids. While the fish were not as plentiful or interesting it was a good first experience for my teens and younger kids.
Response from Host, Sep 2024
Thanks for coming out and I’m glad the kids had a good time!
Ranyla_S, Aug 2024
Everything was great! Jake's awesome. He let the kids steer the boat and they had a blast. I would highly recommend this experience for anyone looking for a family excursion
Jessica_H, Aug 2024
We had such a great time and the captain made it extra special for the kids in the group by letting them steer the boat. It was fun to cheer for the kids and see the beautiful fish. Plus the captain was so knowledgeable as a CA local I still learned a bunch.
Response from Host, Aug 2024
Thank you I’m glad you had a good time!
david_r, Aug 2024
the captain was very nice and let the kids sail the boat a bit with his hat but the part about seeing the fish was disappointing as i was expecting we would go out to the open sea and see large fish but in the end the fish viewing is only for about 15 minutes and the water is very murky so you can only see the fish when he feeds them we did get to see a sting ray which was a nice bonus
Response from Host, Aug 2024
Hey there. Sorry we didn’t go to the open sea to see “big fish”. We did everything we said we would do in our listing, and showed you everything and more (stingrays) that you see in all our photos. I’m sorry you had expectations that were different than what we advertised. Overall it sounds like you had a good time and we delivered the trip as advertised. Thanks for coming out, we appreciate you and your family.
Abby_M, Aug 2024
Fun family adventure. This was a great activity to celebrate my daughters 29th birthday. The company was charming, and the captain was safe, informative, and funny.
