I love food tours - walk, history, chat with fellow travelers, city insights, and food - usually fairly predictable, but good food. This food tour was not predictable as Lima food is kind of an unknown aside from ceviche. I think this tour spanned the gamut of everything one could want - crazy exotic fruits, one of the stranger and yet sublime smoothies ever - with just three ingredients, and there was a LOT of food. Joseph the guide was a super nice guy and mega knowledgable. There was on person on this tour from Colombia who dod not speak English and Joseph transitioned so fast between Spanish and English -- this guy was born to be a guide. One recommendation though - offer water too at some of the stops - the drinks were so good, but water is water. Or bring a bottle (maybe I should have). This tour is an A++

My husband, 15-year-old daughter, and I took the Lima Experiences Food Tour & Market Experience: 12 Peruvian Snacks today, and it was our very first food tour ever. We had such an amazing time!
Arturo was an incredible guide — friendly, knowledgeable, and so much fun to spend the day with. We tried so many foods and drinks that I had never experienced before, and every single one was delicious. Visiting the market was one of the highlights! It felt like we were getting to experience real Peruvian daily life instead of just seeing tourist spots.
We also loved that Arturo took us to places we never would have discovered on our own. Our group was small — just one other couple — so the whole experience felt personal and welcoming, almost like spending the day with family.
If you’re considering this tour, don’t hesitate. Just book it! You will not regret it!

We had such a great time on this tour! Arturo, our guide, was friendly, knowledgeable and outgoing. Visiting the largest market in Lima, and eating from the food stands made us feel like locals. Everything was delicious and authentic. Arturo went above and beyond by even texting all of us a list of the different snacks, fruits, drinks and desserts that we tried. Peruvian food is so unique, and this experience was our favorite of the trip so far!

Disappointing from the start. Despite the tour advertising 12 tastings, we only received 8 — because several spots were closed on a Sunday. The guide apologized and explained they couldn’t substitute with other venues due to food quality concerns, but that misses the point entirely. This should be stated clearly at the time of booking. Had we known Sunday meant fewer stops, we simply would not have booked it — regardless of price. It’s not about the cost difference between 8 and 12 snacks; it’s about the time. We wouldn’t have committed our limited Lima time to a shorter, lesser experience. Transparency upfront would have at least given us the choice. For what it’s worth, the price was the same, even with less stops/snacks.
The guide’s energy matched the situation: minimal. Great food tour guides are storytellers who bring a city’s culinary culture to life. Ours wasn’t that.
The hygiene concern is hard to overlook. Dishes like ceviche were served in shared portions, meaning multiple strangers were dipping their spoons into the same bowl. There’s no polite way to put it — you’re essentially eating off someone else’s utensil. It felt unsanitary and uncomfortable, and it’s an easy fix: serve smaller individual portions per person. Nobody wants to think about germs on a food tour.
But here’s the biggest issue: Lima is one of the world’s great food capitals. We came expecting to be wowed, to understand the hype, to have our minds changed about what food can be. We left the tour asking ourselves “is this really what everyone talks about?” — which is perhaps the worst outcome imaginable for a food tour in this city.
We care less about the money lost than the time. Lima time is precious and limited, and this tour wasted ours.

Cool food tour through chaotic market. Yosed was a an awesome host! He taught us so much and made sure we didn't get lost. He was super nice and had a lot of fur infographics along the way! We learned so much and went places we never would have tried or seen on our own. Only downside was there are not many vegetarian swaps but overall an awesome experience b

What a great day of trying various Peruvian foods, learning about the history of Peru and meeting new friends. Our tour guide, Diego Alonso was fantastic. He kept our group engaged and was very helpful when extra assistance was required. We have been on many food/culinary tours around the world and this was the best one we have experienced. And now we can honestly say we tried cows heart!

This was a great food tour! Our guide, Diego, took us to places in Lima we certainly would not have found by ourselves. The places we visited ranged from simple food trucks to a quite well appointed bar in a major hotel. We certainly got an appreciation for local Peruvian cuisine. All in all, well worth the price!

We did the 12 snacks food tour in downtown Lima and it was truly the icing on the cake for our visit in Peru! What a wonderful cultural experience!!! Arturo was our tour guide and I cannot say enough good things about him! His English was very VERY good and he was a wealth of knowledge! I felt incredibly comfortable and at home the 3.5 hrs we were together walking the streets of Lima. I felt like I was talking with my brother as we discussed all the Peruvian culture and foods. We walked around the market and it was such a joy to feel like a local and do like the locals do! I didn’t want the tour to end, it was worth every penny! HIGHLY recommend! Arturo you’re the best they get. THANK YOU for a unforgettable day!

Exceptional experience with Joseph and the Peru taste tour in English. I’m Peruvian and I learned tons about my own culture, traditions, food and history. Joseph’s mastery of English is extraordinary so it made it very clear to all people attending the tour. He even agreed to help us after the tour was over, with a visit to the San Francisco church and the catacombs. Joseph goes well beyond what’s demanded from him. Six stars if I could. And you get your bang for your buck. We couldn’t eat at all given how full we were after eating all the tastings earlier. What a great experience that was.

This is a wonderful food tour! So much great good, there is no way we could eat everything. Our guide, Giovana, was fabulous! She taught us so much about Lima during the tour. She went out of her way to spend time and talk to each of us personally during the tour. We especially loved that she purchased several fruits from the market that most of us had never seen or heard of, then cut them up and let us sample each of them. This tour was such a good value. We take a food tour in most of the cities we visit, and this was one of the best!
