This was overall so much fun! Our tour guide Juan was amazing! He really put such a great effort to ensure we had a great experience. He was very knowledgable and was engaging with my teens. They really liked him as well. The hike was great and saw many sloths up close. The lunch was ok. The river was beautiful, calm and saw bats and iguanas. Highly recommend it and having Juan was a bonus. 😊

It was a great day starting with the rafting trip during which we saw crocodiles, a variety of monkeys and other wildlife. The guide was knowledgeable and fun. Lunch was tasty . The afternoon hike was very enjoyable. We saw monkeys , sloths , a red eyed tree frog and other wildlife. The guide for the hike was friendly and enthusiastic.

Great tour which included a river raft safari and a hike through the rain forest. Marlene was an excellent driver and guide. Friendly and informative. Anthony our guide on the water was awesome. Did a great job of spotting wildlife and steering the boat over to get a better view. We were able to see a ton of wildlife including monkeys, coatis, crocodiles, an eagle, multiple species of birds, and bats. Our rain forest hike was excellent as well ( forgot our guides name). We saw sloths up close along with monkeys and many birds/snakes. Very enjoyable!

We had an amazing day! With the river tour and the rainforest, it was a day filled with animals and beautiful nature. Plus it was just my husband and me plus one guide so it felt very private. Maryann, Jose and Jessie were awesome tour guides and they spoke English great for us!

A wonderful experience with Marlene. Our family of 6 (ages 7yo-76yo) all had an amazing time. We were able to set our own pace and make a stop for supplies on the way back to our hotel.

The river rafting was a fun way to see the wildlife that everyone could enjoy. The guides were great at spotting the animals. We were able to see sloths up close. It was amazing.

Had a great experience. Drive a little long but worth it. Marlene very knowledgeable and told us a lot about the area, economy and wildlife in the area. We got to see a baby sloth! It was amazing! Highly recommend!

1) not worth $660 for a family of 4
2) the “Natural reserve in rain forest….” is ACTUALLY someone’s private property
3) 45 min walk (not 2 hours as advertised).
4) 1 hour raft boat ride (not motor) does not allow to get closer to any sightings as the river controls the raft
5) Lunch is NOT buffet style like other excursions (remember $165/person!)
6) 11 hour excursion for 3 hour activity (pick up 715am; drop off 6pm). This should be advertised!
7) Marlene (tour lady) & Orlando (driver) are great.

Hi,
you forget to mention the fact of distance from your hotel to Liberia (where the tour is listed from) 2 hours each way (adds 4 hour to your excurtion) *and the hotel pick up was included in the price.....
Next time you should verified where your hotel is located and pick something closer and cheaper.
We do not use motor boat to protect our rivers, we are responsibles with the ecosystem and we will not cause pollution into the water with fuel and oil that kills our fauna, next time take a look of what king of activities are you booking.
And the rain forest trails is part of a Private natural reserve (not own by the goverment) that is why you get "trails" to walk through the nature this allows many customers to do adventures easier and safe.
At last, lunch is listed as typical costarican Meal (a casado: rice, beans, salad, picadillo, plantain and one meat of your preference. a fancy buffet will increace the price. For this tour is also included: 1 local guide on the river + 1 local guide in the rain forest to find more animals in nature + 1 main guide on the way. Cooler with snaks on the river and entrance to the private reserve... Next time you should travel to a fancy city place, not to the jungle...

Our driver/guide Marlene was Amazing and knows so much about the animals, the country and we saw animals on our way and stopped! So great! Marco our boat guide taught us about wild cinnamon and wild garlic and showed us crocodiles and many birds. Lastly Samuel got us 3 sloths (one was a baby) and frogs and snakes! Both of them were also informative and cared about our safety and enjoyment! Great tour!!

We enjoyed the raft trip very much. The lunch was excellent. The "rain forest" was not especially rainy, but it was a very easy way to see the main attractions: sloths, ttee snakes, tree frogs. Stop at the tourist trap on the way back was less than necessary, but OK. Marlene was an outstanding guide!

This was one of our best tour experiences. We had Marlene as our driver. We had her all to ourselves. She was able to add on a coffee/chocolate tour for us at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend doing that thru her not thru the tour company. We saw every animal promised. Do not hesitate to book this tour!!!!

The most special and amazing day! <3 we see so much wildlife including crocodiles, toucans, monkeys and best of all, sloths! One of the sloths was so close I managed to get a selfie with it, and was so overwhelmed with emotion I shed a tear. I was particularly conscious to make sure we were choosing an ethical experience in which the animals were respected and not stressed by us, Marlene shared my concerns and I could see the passion and effort that the guides go to to protect their environment. Definitely recommend.

Absolutely loved this tour from start to finish. Marlene was our driver and tour guide for the day. She was upbeat and lovely, made us feel comfortable and well looked after. She was also an excellent driver, crossing a river to pick us up from hotel! The river tube boating was fantastic, Marco took us around and we saw many crocodiles, egrets, lizards, iguanas and even some monkeys.
Next stop at the rainforest was even more magical! We were able to get up close and personal with sloths, saw frogs, toucans, snakes, beautiful flowers and insects as well.
I cannot recommend this tour enough. It was truly amazing!

The best and safest zip lining I have experienced, including Tarzan swing! The horseback riding was good. The hot spring was excellent. We could not do the river tubing because the river was too rough due to rain from the previous day. Highly recommended.

This was an amazing excursion!! Marlene was our tour guide and she has a huge passion for her job! With that passion she wants your tour to be very memorable and it was!! This tour was incredible! Marlene was our driver and took such good care of us. She was prompt, she spoke excellent English and taught us a lot about the area and Costa Rica in general. Our River guide Brian was fantastic and helped us spot some jungle animals along the river. Our walking guide Iesenia was so much fun and helped us spot 6 sloths, a bunch of birds and reptiles. Everyone was very accommodating and so nice. We took several tours during our visit and this tour was by far our favorite. Would highly recommend!

This was the second sloth tour we took on this trip and it was the best. The river safari was great but the sloth tour was beyond amazing. Marlene was our personal tour guide and took us to this unique location for the jungle tour. She is the best and knew a lot about the history. Stephanie was our personal guide for the jungle tour. She helped take and also took some amazing pictures. I was so close to sloths, literally next to them, including a very cute baby sloth. Stephanie knew where they hang out. We also saw snakes and frogs, but being next to the sloths was the highlight. The sloth even turned around for picture perfect poses. It was once in a lifetime opportunity for these unbelievable sloth pictures. If I had the option to post pictures, I would.
If in Costs Rica, make sure you go with Marlene. And ask for Stephanie for the jungle tour.

Excellent experience since it is a private tour for your family! Marlene was terrific and allowed us to add in an extra stop (to visit a waterfall - a must do when in Costa Rica)! She taught us about her country while we drove, and stopped and purchased us fruit to try (Yummy!). The two planned tours - river and rain forest - were both fun and worthwhile. Both tour guides were bueno! We saw all of the wildlife we wanted to see which satisfied my family’s Costa Rica Bucket List!! Highly recommend this trip and this tour guide, Marlene!

I (56 year old female) brought my mom (77) and my son (21) to Costa Rica and am so glad we decided to do this tour. Marlene, our driver all day was amazing. She is so sweet, friendly and knowledgeable. She made sure we had a fantastic day. She picked us up at our hotel and drove us to the river for the safari by raft. The river guide Durman was knowledgeable and pointed out lots of flora and fauna. He provided snacks, water and juice. We saw crocodiles, iguanas, monkeys, bats, and a bunch of birds. There were some rapids which made it fun. After the safari on the river, we had a traditional Costa Rican lunch which was great. After lunch, we headed to the rainforest for a short hike to see all of the animals we were hoping to see and some others we had not expected. Walter was our guide and he was truly fantastic. He helped to make sure my mom was comfortable and that we all had a great time. We saw yellow throated toucans, red-eyed tree frog, eyelash viper, sloths including a young one who was very close to us, strawberry poison frog (only poisonous if you eat them), and a large tapir. All of us loved the day, including my mom (77) and son (21). I think this tour is great for people of all ages. I highly recommend this trip!

Amazing experience. Marlena our driver was with us for the entire day. She was very informative about Costa Rica and made sure we had the best out of out rafting and sloth safari. Duran our raft guide pointed out the wildlife and plants. The lunch was tasty along with the watermelon Marlena purchased from a roadside vendor. The sloth safari was the highlight. We saw at six slothes 2 had babies, along with frogs, tapir and birds. Guides were educated on the wildlife. Highly recommend

One of our favorite days of the trip! Marlene was an excellent guide who picked us up and offered a lot of knowledge about the local wildlife on our ride out to Tenorio River. The rafting was incredible as we saw so much wildlife — howler monkeys, baby & adult crocs, bats, iguanas, egrets, and more. After rafting, we stopped for a quick lunch which was good and traditional Costa Rican food. We then headed out to the rain forest to a wildlife sanctuary to see frogs, snakes, and sloths. We even saw a sloth come down and came within inches of it!! We couldn’t recommend this tour enough!

This tour was a highlight of our 12 day trip to Costa Rica. If you want to see animals in their natural environment, then this tour is a must. We relaxed while David, our rafting guide, steered us toward magnificent photo ops of lizards, crocodiles, bats, egrets, herons and made sure we saw the Jesus Christ lizard (basilisk lizard) walk on water!
After lunch at a local Costa Rican restaurant, our driver, Marlene, drove us 30 minutes to the rain forest. After a short downpour--it is the rainforest after all, Maria lead us through nature trails pointing out various birds, frogs, a yellow pit viper!, as well as numerous plants and animals. The absolute highlight was seeing a sloth in a tree at eye level. You can't help but fall in love with these creatures when they look you right in the eye with a goofy grin. Totally worth the price of admission!
Finally, Marlene gets special recognition for being one of the best drivers on our entire trip. She made us feel safe, welcome and treated us like we were part of her family. All of our guides were friendly and enthusiastic but Marlene had a special "something" that made you understand that Costa Rica is a unique place that needs to be preserved. She loves what she does and her enthusiasm is contagious. We ended our visit on this highlight but will definitely be returning in the future and will make sure to include a tour with Marlene on subsequent trips!
