Excellent tour of Turkey

Tina_N, Aug 2025
I did this tour with my family of 5. It was a bit tiring but I also wouldn’t have changed anything. The balloon ride in cappadocia was absolutely amazing and a worthwhile add on. The fresco cave hotel in cappadocia was the best hotel of our trip, I recommend visiting this hotel. We had one of the best meals ever at fresco and loved the historical cave hotel. All hotels we stayed at were close to shopping and restaurants. The tour guides were excellent. My only suggestion would be take a small carry on with essentials for each flight incase your luggage misses a connection. This happened to us and I was unprepared.

Pamukkale Tour – Deeply Disappointing and Misleading

Karina_J, Aug 2025
Pamukkale Tour – Deeply Disappointing and Misleading We recently booked a multi-day tour through Viator, operated by Tour Altinkum (Tour Altruism). While the earlier portions (Ephesus, Kusadasi, Cappadocia) were well organized, the final day in Pamukkale was a complete failure and a clear case of false advertising. False Promotion of Cleopatra Pool We specifically chose this itinerary because it included the Cleopatra Pool, which is shown prominently in the booking photos and descriptions. When we arrived, we were shocked to discover the Cleopatra Pool has been closed for a long time—a fact that neither the agency nor the tour description disclosed. The disappointment of traveling from Kusadasi only to find out the highlight was inaccessible was beyond frustrating. Unengaged Guide and Lack of Value The guide provided, Mr. Ogün, did not guide at all. He spent the day either seated under a tree or on the phone. We received zero explanation or context about the area or its historical significance. This felt like a completely unguided visit where we were essentially just dropped off. Terrible Food Experience Lunch was offered at a place that felt extremely low-budget, with no ice, poor quality food, and a limited menu. The only edible part was the rice. This was nowhere near the level of meals we had in the earlier parts of the tour. Wasted Time and Lack of Flexibility Due to the closed Cleopatra Pool, we had nothing meaningful to do for over 3 hours. When we raised our concerns, the response was tone-deaf—suggesting we relax at a hotel pool or “do our research” beforehand. This is unacceptable for a paid, guided tour booked through a reputable platform. Partial Recovery and Final Thoughts Eventually, we requested and received an earlier flight back to Istanbul, but only after extensive negotiation and emotional stress. We were also misled into believing a refund would be possible—only to be told it wasn’t after we agreed to the pool option. Thanks to Meriç for handling the logistics and arranging the flight change, but this doesn’t compensate for the wasted time and cost of the tour day. Final Verdict ❌ Do not book Pamukkale through this tour operator. ❌ Misleading images and descriptions ❌ Zero guide value ❌ Subpar logistics and food ❌ Disrespectful handling of guest expectations We feel scammed and would advise Viator and other agencies to remove Pamukkale from their packages until it is properly restored and the experience matches what is sold.

Response from Host, Aug 2025

Dear Karina, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're truly sorry to hear that your experience in Pamukkale left you disappointed, especially after what had otherwise been a smooth and enjoyable multi-day tour through Istanbul, Ephesus, and Cappadocia. We’d like to offer some clarity, as we feel your review does not fully reflect the reality of the situation or the efforts made to support you. The Cleopatra Pool was unfortunately closed due to ongoing maintenance by the local municipality. This decision was beyond our control and, as we mentioned to you at the time, no official reopening date was provided to us by the authorities. While we understand your disappointment, it’s important to note that the Cleopatra Pool is just one optional element of the Pamukkale tour, not the main focus. The core of the experience includes Hierapolis, the ancient Roman theatre, and the travertines—all of which you were able to visit, with the support of our guide and transportation arranged for the day. As for the guide, his role is to provide context and explanations, then allow guests personal time to explore the open-air museum, thermal terraces, and other areas at their own pace. This is a common approach in such large, natural and historical sites. Regarding the travertines, we understand you were surprised by the water levels. However, the water flow is seasonally managed by local authorities to protect the site. It is not something any tour operator can control, and this is noted in most travel advisories. When you expressed your dissatisfaction, we immediately offered you several solutions—including a flight change, which you chose. We managed to secure and pay for a last-minute change, absorbing the penalty costs ourselves, even though this was not part of the original itinerary. Despite our efforts, it’s disheartening to read such a harsh judgment of the entire experience based solely on one element of the final day. For six days, you traveled comfortably, with organized logistics, licensed guides, and well-reviewed accommodations. To label the full service as “terrible” because of the Cleopatra Pool’s closure and a less-than-perfect lunch does not feel fair to us or to the hard work of everyone involved in your tour. We also want to acknowledge that our team remained calm and responsive, even when faced with raised voices, because we genuinely wanted to help. It is always our goal to resolve issues in a respectful and solution-focused manner. We are sincerely sorry that you left with disappointment. We also respectfully ask that travelers consider the full picture and the fact that not everything, especially natural or municipal conditions, can be controlled by a tour company. Thank you again for your feedback. We hope you enjoyed the many beautiful places you visited in Türkiye, and we wish you all the best in your future travels. Warm regards, Tour Altınkum Team

Amazing. Beautiful. Flawless!!

Darrin_C, Aug 2025
From pre-trip communication to the end of the trip airport drop off, everything about this tour was flawless. We had lots of questions prior to the trip and communication was always quick, helpful and reassuring. We added an extra night at the end of the trip thinking we would then need to arrange our own transportation to the airport, but much to our surprise, the tour operator took care that as well. We upgraded our hotels and the accommodations were excellent and in great locations. The hot air balloon ride was a once in a lifetime experience not to be missed! We only had one week in Turkey and there is no way we could have planned such an immersive trip on our own despite having planned many trips in the past. It was so nice to simply receive an email or text telling us when and where to meet and not worry about anything else! The day trips were amazing and the guides were knowledgeable and engaging. It was a whirlwind week—we saw and experienced so much and were left feeling like we took in such an incredible amount of history, culture and beauty but wanting to return someday for more! We can’t recommend this tour enough!

Thanks Altinkum travel for great Tour!

ThiYen_T, Jun 2025
We were very happy with Altinkum travel, they organised the tour very well. Hotel in Cappadocia (cave) and Kusadasi (ocean front) was wonderful. The late flights were tough (we got to the hotel at 1.30am on one night and started at 7.25am pick up the next day but I think it was because there were no other flights to Izmir. This tour would be challenging if yoy have small children as pick up/drop off times can vary and change quickly. Also lots of spare time waiting around the airport for our flights (2-3hrs for domestic flight). Other than that the day trips were interesting (Ephesus & Pamukale). We would suggest you look up the places of visit and choose as you don't have to go to all of them. We skipped the Topaki Palace €45 and probably should have skipped the House of Virgin Mary €15 too as not much to see. Ephesus and Pamukale was worth it. Our experience with Altinkum tour has been excellent. Great communication from the day we booked (2 months advance) and they send you information always on the day before to prepare you and answer your questions s promptly. Highly recommend them!

Excellent planning and service for seven days in Turkey

Lisa_W, Apr 2025
Everything about this trip was excellent. From the moment we arrived in Turkey, everything was arranged for us, including airport transfers in large and clean automobiles, tours with knowledgeable guides, usually with lunch included, hotel accommodations in great locations and hassle free flight arrangements between the cities. It was a fast pace for the seven days, full of exciting adventures. The service provided by the tour company was top notch!

Good experience/value!

Elizabeth_C, Aug 2024
My friend and I really enjoyed this tour - very well organised, fantastic communication and fast/helpful responses to any questions asked (both before and during the trip; thanks Sedef and Berkay). We found it good value for money considering prices in Türkiye; great accommodation, made life a lot less stressful having all transport organised for us, all transport/transfers were on time and comfortable, friendly tour guides. We especially enjoyed the balloon ride over Cappadocia, the mineral flats at Pamukkale and Ephesus.

Uneven and undependable service

leilah_H, Dec 2023
My most memorable moment was at the end of our tour of a country full of wonderful people and fascinating history....when we were left high and dry outside the Istanbul airport when our promised driver didn't show up to take us to our hotel. We ended up having to go through security, re-enter the airport and pay for our own transportation. This was our second negative experience on the trip after having a rather unpleasant and unprofessional tour guide in Ephesus. Nice hotels and generally good food. I recommend the trip but not the company.

Response from Host, Jan 2024

Hello Leilah First of all, I would like to say sorry once again about the transfer issue you had, Even if the disruption in the transfer is not caused by us or you. We had long e-mails with you on this transfer issue. I do not want to repeat these correspondences here. I just want to briefly summarize that; Our Greeter and driver were waiting for you at the airport, 1-Exactly as we stated in the meeting point visuals we sent you 1 day before the transfer) 2-After your plane landed, the greeter and colleagues in the office called you, but your phone was off. 3-We responded immediately to the e-mail you sent to us saying we could not see the driver, but when you received our reply you had already taken a taxi. 4-You made an ugly slander by saying "They couldn't even refund my taxi money in full" even though we refunded your taxi money (even more than what you paid). 5-You call yourself a travel advisor, can there be such a travel expert who not using the phone (You said you regretted not using a phone and that you would use a phone on your next tours.), Not knowing what to do in situations where she needs to act smart (you have our operation numbers but you were calling our office number at midnight that we were all out off office, why?), Unjust (Evaluating a package tour that went smoothly whıch included 8 airport transfers + 3 domestic flights + 3 hotel check-ins and a 5 Guıded day tour, based on only 1 transfer that not our fault.) You have shown how unfair you are by unfairly rating us with 2 stars. (you said that, you were ratıng the hotels you stayed with 5-star reviews and you were happy wıth the tours) We are aware that there may be unsympathetic guests like you in our business life. But it's still sad to be evaluated in this way in return for our efforts. We will of course leave a comment for you on the platforms you serve as Travel Advisor so that people who want to travel with your recommendations can see your shortcomings.

Wonderful experience.

Lizandra_S, Jun 2023
Good tour to see various key places in turkey. Fast paced but very well planned. Guides, drivers and hotels were 4+ stars. The hot air balloon ride at an extra cost was amazing. Definitely recommended.

It was a very good memory!

M_O, Jun 2025
The seven-day trip was a lot of fun and good memories. I am glad that I was able to visit tourist attractions in Turkey efficiently. The itinerary, the hotel, the guides, they were all satisfying. On the first day, I was a little worried because I couldn't contact them well, but from the second day onwards, I was able to travel with peace of mind because I was well informed of the details. Perhaps the only regrets were the long waits at the airport and the excessive pressure you felt when you were taken to the souvenir shop. The four-hour wait at Denizli airport (a small, empty regional airport) was very leisurely and painful. Understandably, the transfer to Istanbul airport was early due to traffic conditions, but I still thought the arrival 3 hours before was early. I also felt a little stressed at the souvenir shop as the staff hung around. Other than that, we had a really good trip and I am very grateful to the staff. Thank you very much.
