We had such a wonderful day with our tour guide Joe, who customized this tour for us and was able to accommodate some changes we needed to make at the last minute, to the meeting time. The Peace Memorial visit was so very emotional as his sister was one of the children killed in the blast and later he lost one of his parents as a derivative of the fallout from this horrific crime. He does these tours to help educate the world on nuclear warfare and how never should we use it against others. And he has first hand experience with traumas families went through, even decades later. We also went to Miyajima Island and got to explore the island and have a wonderful lunch in a nice cozy spot. Was one of my best days in Japan.

We loved Yoshi our tour guide! We saw all the highlights we wanted while learning so much from a very authentic local host. We especially loved our lunch okonomiyaki spot! Hearing Yoshi’s personal connections to the history of Hiroshima were very moving and deepened our appreciation of the day.

My family of 4 (2 adults and 2 adult kids ages 25 and 22) had an amazing day in Hiroshima! Our tour guide Eri was great! She took us to Miyajima Island, the Peace Park, the Atomic Dome and the Museum! She also took us to the best Hiroshima Okonomiyaki lunch! It was a 2nd generation owned establishment so the experience felt so authentic! Eri’s passion about teaching the history of this city was evident and made this tour unforgettable. Thank you Eri!!

Our private custom tour to Miyajima Island (Itsukushima) with our wonderful guide Yuka was terrific from beginning to end! After we'd booked the tour in advance, Yuka made immediate contact with us to discuss tailoring the tour to our wishes. During that time, we decided that we could easily visit the Peace Memorial Park and Atomic Bomb Dome in Hiroshima on our own, but that Yuka would guide us on Miyajima Island, including the ascent up Mt. Misen. She arranged the tickets in advance for us to take the ferry from Peace Memorial Park to Miyajima, as well as picking up the bento box lunches that we enjoyed during our lunch break at the summit of Mt. Misen. Yuka's ability to converse fluently in both Japanese and English helped to set things up smoothly before and during the tour, and she expertly gave commentary and insight into the points of interest along the way. We also asked numerous questions during the tour, to which she was able to provide further answers and information. The ferry ride to Miyajima was smooth and enjoyable, taking us past interesting sights and many of the oyster farms floating in the sea around Hiroshima. Miyajima Island is beautiful and well worth (at least) a day trip and tour, with the lively and colourful market street (Omote-sando) filled with interesting shops and eateries, the beautiful shrines, Torii gates, halls and temples, and of course the gorgeous island scenery along the hike plus the amazing views from the top of Mt. Misen. The hike up Mt. Misen can be eased by taking the ropeway partway up (roundtrip), though the rest of the hike will still test your knees, ankles and feet. However, the vistas from the top are well worth the effort! All in all, a very enjoyable and memorable tour, enhanced greatly by Yuka's personable and friendly help and guidance. Highly recommended!

We had a great tour with Riona. She arranged the itinerary to take in all the things we wanted to see and guided us and gave us lots of great information along the way. We particularity enjoyed the temples and food on Miyajima.

We loved our time with Yuka our Japanese and English speaking guide. We came from a cruise ship and she met us in the morning after we took the main train near Miyajima Island and she was waiting for us. From there our day was wonderful. Miyajima island is a must do and Yuka provided wonderful commentary, suggestions and photo opportunities. We ate lunch near the ferry terminal enjoying local okonomyaki and then took a local train to the Atomic Bomb memorial and Peace Museum where we spent a couple hours visiting this somber but peace filled memorial. Yuka’s insight was invaluable and we thoroughly enjoyed our almost 7 hours with her. We made it back to the cruise ship with time to spare.

We had Toshi san as our guide who was a native of Hiroshima and whose mother was a survivor of the bomb. We were very privileged to have such a knowledgeable guide with a direct connection to the events of 1945.
The Peace Park and museum were sobering, however were well worth the visit. The stories behind the dome, the rest house with its one survivor and the hospital at the hypocentre will stay with us forever.
We then visited Miyajima island and Toshi showed us some key temples and shrines including of course the floating Tori gate. An okonomiyaki lunch was also a highlight of our tour.
We highly recommend this tour and particularly our excellent guide, Toshi san.

Nami-San was extremely well versed in all things dealing with Hiroshima and Miyajima. She met us right at the train. Took us to the most famous site in Hiroshima, The Atomic Dome, then to the actual point the bomb detonated, and explained everything about that location. Followed by a very intense trip through the Peace Museum. It was very interesting and educational.
For lunch she took us for a traditional Hiroshima meal at a Okonomiyaki shop. As a picky eater, I throughly enjoyed the meal.
Then it was on to a bus to take the train and Ferry to Miyajima Island. She explained everything about the island, the ancient temple and how it recently only has been inhabited by non monks. She also explained that 60% of all the oyster consumed in Japan are harvested from this area. You will see many oyster beds on the ferry ride.
The tour was wonderful, busy and super interesting. Thank you Nani-san!

Our tour guide, Hina was extremely knowledgeable about all the sites we were seeing. She was even better at giving us a very personalized view of Hiroshima which I do not think you would be able to get from just a group tour. She was able to accommodate multiple ages and limitations within the group and still make everyone feel very included. Even after the she is continued to give us ideas about the upcoming ports for the rest of our cruise. Her insight was invaluable at making a wonderful day excursion. I don't think you would have been able to get this from a group tour. She was able to change our meeting location in a pinch when are cruise ship was not docked at the correct port. We were able to pivot and she was so accommodating. I would highly recommend if you could request Hina. Responded quickly to all my messages. She also was just so friendly and made a memorable day for all .

Our tour was amazing. Miyu was our guide and she made it wonderful. We saw and learned so much more than we would have if we had tried to piece this tour together on our own. Not only was Miyu knowledgeable, but she was kind. She made sure that we stayed hydrated in the heat and took breaks when needed. I would highly recommend this tour.

You must request Tomoe has your personal guide while in Hiroshima / Miyajima Island, as she was one of the most caring, expert, friendly tour guides we’ve ever had the joy to spend time with. She communicated with me for months ahead of our tour to put together a perfect itinerary (Memorial Peace Park and Miyajima Island). She even spent a lot of time working with us to figure out the best restaurant on Miyajima Island, sending me lots of ideas and menus ahead of time. She spoke about the Hiroshima sites with such compassion and sensitivity. She constantly led us to shady areas and gave us breaks to ensure the heat and humidity didn’t zap our energy. She planned a perfect day and even pre-purchased the museum and ferry tickets ahead of time to make our time more efficient (we of course paid her back).

If you are pressed for time and want to see the highlights of this city, do book this tour with Noriko. She was a fantastic tour guide and her command in English was exceptional. We had a great time with her… visiting Miyajima Island and viewing the Hiroshima peace park, museum and the atomic bomb dome. Despite what happened to this city 80 years ago, it has outdone itself- even better than parts of the United States. I highly recommend visiting Hiroshima and Noriko!

My husband, baby and I booked this private tour around Hiroshima and we could not have asked for a better experience. Our tour guide Hisashi was amazing. His knowledge about Hiroshima, the Miyajima and the peace memorial site is priceless! As a family with an infant, we were a bit apprehensive about touring and how she would go in the heat, but Hisashi made sure she was comfortable the whole time and even took it upon himself to help push her when she was unsettled, a true ojī san. Thank you again Hisashi, if you are lucky enough to get him as a guide your experience will be seamless, insightful and most importantly so much fun!

Naoya was a great guide! From pick up to drop off my family and I enjoyed our time with Naoya. We got to see things we never could have without his expertise. He was able to work with us during our shortened time frame because of the time we had to be back to the cruise ship. We are so grateful for some wonderful pictures he was able to take while we were enjoying our time making memories. We very much recommend!

Our guide Kazumi was likely the best I have ever had. She was very responsive to our requests, made us feel very comfortable, ensured we got good views, was informative, and even got this unadventurous eater to try something new. The city and its sites also exceeded my expectations.

Private local guide Noriko did a beautiful job of customizing tour stops and transportation to meet our goals for visiting the peace memorial park, significant historical spots, and Miyajima island. She is such a caring person; Noriko contacted us the day before our tour to make sure that we were okay; she had heard news about train track closures due to an accident. We appreciate hearing about her life in Hiroshima and the lives of her grandmothers and mother as impacted by war and the devastating bomb. Noriko advised us to wait until 5:30 pm to enter the peace museum; wished we had as we chose 4:30 pm and the museum was very crowded until about 5:30 pm!
