Such a fantastic experience! The instructors were incredibly knowledgeable and supportive, which made the learning curve feel easy and enjoyable. Wearing the outfit was so much fun, and we got to shoot plenty of arrows. I’d highly recommend this to anyone curious about trying a new style of archery!

Was a great experience learning traditional Japanese archery. Where they taught us how to shoot and then let us have a friendly competition at the end.

It's a little daunting at first and the teacher is very firm about proper form, but it's great fun. Once you have the bow in your hand the order to follow becomes a lot clearer and the fun begins. I had a great time and loved it once I got the hang of it!

I had a great time learning about and practicing Japanese Archery. It was important to follow the rules and this resulted in hitting the target on quite a few occasions. Would be a great hour spent solo or with family.

An hour long experience for four people with two guides . Introduces us to archery. Meeting point instructions could be clearer. Parking nearby is a bit of a nightmare. Give yourselves enough time.

We loved the experience but we could not appreciate the host not speaking English and being very stressed on us touching any of the equipment which is authentic and expensive. Having been with the kids we had to control every their move rather than just enjoying it together. Host had no education skills neither patience. cool though to have a costume.

We absolutely loved our experience with the Japanese Archery team! My husband didn’t want to follow proper form, but we both eventually learned proper form! It was a fun, authentic experience while in Hiroshima and would recommend to our friends. frim but fair competition!! If you get all 8 (we didn’t) you get a special spot on the wall!

"This was AMAZING!," said our 14 year old son. We did this experience as a family and everyone loved it. Wear the uniforms! Why wouldn't you?! Even though we don't speak Japanese and the staff in the archery centre didn't speak much English, they used a tablet to translate verbal instructions and the whole process was seamless and very effective. We were taught some of the history of Japanese archery in addition to the correct process for deploying the arrows, which was surprisingly complex. It was a really fun challenge. Who knew that if you aim to the left you might get the arrow to go straight. The experience lasted about 1 hour, and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute.

We visited Hiroshima about a year ago and were reminiscing about the trip when we realized this archery session was one of our absolute highlights. The instruction was clear and thoughtful—even though we don't speak Japanese, the instructor communicated everything so well that we learned a lot and noticeably improved during the session. It was fun, engaging, and a great way to experience something unique to Japan. Highly recommended!

The experience takes about an hour. So. E prepared to get a sore hand/arm if you have never done this before! But don’t let this stop you! It was definitely a highlight for our daughter. At the beginning the steps for notching the arrow might seem a little overwhelming but you soon get the hang of it. The instructors were very sweet and patient and tried very hard to help, we loved that you got dressed in the kyudo uniform. That added to the experience!

If you have the opportunity to try the Japanese Archery Experience - DO IT! It’s an amazing experience; something unique & different from the usual touristy activities. The instructor & his apprentices are knowledgeable, patient & very helpful. Each person will shoot 8 arrows in each round. Each round is broken up into 2 halves whereby you shoot 4 arrows first followed by another 4 arrows. You will start with instructions from the instructor followed by a practice round with 8 shots. The instructor & his apprentices will continue instructing you & giving technique tips during this time. Depending how quickly you pick up on technique/instructions, you could continue practice rounds or proceed to a fun little competition between yourselves. Because we were fast learners, we were able to do 5 competition rounds & shoot over 45 arrows each (including practice round shots) during our time. If you shoot a good score, you will be awarded with a high score card! At various times throughout the experience, the instructor would tell us fun facts about Japanese archery & its history, which was appreciated. The team speak enough English to be conversational & the instructor will use the translator app if he needs to be more specific or convey additional information. The instructor will take a bunch of pictures & videos of you with your phone towards the end of the experience which we really appreciated! Overall, I highly recommend!

Did the archery experience at Hiroshima Castle this morning with my dad — such a cool memory for us. The instructor was incredibly kind and patient, and made us feel at ease even though we were beginners. 3 out of 8!! 😁 Honestly one of the highlights of our trip!

Informative and fun experience. Perfect for me and my two children aged 11 and 13. We wore the costume and learnt about the proper way to hold and shoot the arrows. We practiced and then had a mini competition. It was fun and the instructor was very knowledgeable.

This is a really great experience. If you have never tried archery you will enjoy. If you are an archery then you will enjoy the technique and challenge it brings. While our host has limited English and we have even more limited Japanese there was no problem. Small group and plenty of instructions given. Book it have fun then head outside for a meal after. Really good location easy to find. Have fun we did.
