We used Good morning cat ba to travel from Hanoi to cat ba and had incredibly easy transit experience. You don’t need to look anywhere else. Picked us up right from our hotel in Hanoi and were right by our side (bus to ferry to bus) until they dropped us off at our cat ba stay. Truly an incredible service and would recommend highly! Also super communicative via WhatsApp

Fastest, easiest, cheapest and most efficient way from Ha Noi to Cat Ba!

Other than there being no wifi (as advertised) on the bus this is absolutely the fastest, most efficient , and easiest way to get to Cat Ba from Ha Noi. I was AMAZED how efficient actually. We started at their Ha Noi office, got on the bus, arrived at the marina and walked directly onto a small ferry boat to the island, then walked directly onto another bus and they dropped us off AT THE DOOR of our accommodations on the island. There was not one second of wasted time or waiting- it was INCREDIBLE. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. There is absolutely no better way to get there.

The bus operator waited 10 minutes beyond the scheduled departure time for us to make it there, and the company coordinated over Whatsapp with our Grab driver (who only spoke Vietnamese) to get us straight to the optimal pickup location. They also dropped us off at the ideal spot to be picked up by our homestay on Cat Ba island. We are so thankful for the wonderful and considerate people at this company who went out of their way to ensure our trip went smoothly. For future travelers, be sure to meet the bus at the Hanoi office and not wait for them at the Hanoi airport - the Viator ticket was a bit confusing and I should have read it more carefully.

Overall a very good experience, they were really organized and nice. My place I was staying at was outside of Old Town and I received a timely WhatsApp telling me they could not pick me up (I did not expect them to). The only thing is the bus does have bugs. I saw two cockroaches on the floor, something on someone's trash on the floor (this guy put his food waste down on the floor), and bugs crawling on some of the seams of the bus. So... if bugs make you squeamish, it may not be the right way for you to get to Cat Ba.

The trip was uncomfortable and messy. Bus. Transfer to a speed boat using run down piers and stairs lugging suitcases then another bus which was smaller and struggled to fit the luggage A very budget operation It was a low cost transfer for a reason. There are other ways of getting to Cat Ba

Fine Until Very End

All fine until drop off point on island. Discussed in advance with 3 different people at tour company (including driver and guide) about spot on main road near hotel, where they would be willing to drop off. No problem they said. Passed the spot by, even when I tried to get their attention. Ridiculous.

Affordable way to travel, get what you pay for

Essentially you get what you pay for. We are on are honeymoon so I should have booked something better. Also please make sure if you choose hotel pick up you are in Old Quarter and give your WHATSAPP number for contact as this is the main way of contact. We had no idea where old quarter ended and they tried to contac through WhatsApp which is different than my sim number. So after our time of departure we used the hotel lobby to call and they said they tried to contact us through WhatsApp. So we waited another 2 hours for the next bus. They could have easily used Viator to contact us or called my given number - but for some reason neglected to. After some heated discussion they refunded our payment and gave us a free ride - which was an average experience.

No fuss door to door transfer as it says on the tin - bus had WiFi and stopped for a comfort break between Hanoi and the port. Around a 30min wait for the ferry but no issues at all! Would recommend 👌

The pick up in Hanoi was well organised, as it's tricky for buses to stop in this incredibly busy district. The journey itself was straightforward, with well timed stops etc. They used the short ferry route that brings you in at the other end of the island from Cat Ba town. This for some reason found us being dropped of at a junction, with little more than a wave in a general direction, which meant us having to drag our cases and back packs up a hill, in the afternoon sun for 15 minutes without a clue where we were. We are both what you would call in our senior years. It would have been better to have dropped us in the town centre, where we could at least have got a taxi to the door. Dissapointing and a little scary.

It was all efficiently run, from pickup to dropoff. Only semi-uncomfortable part was waiting outdoors for the boat to Cat Ba island, which took about a half hour to arrive. At least there was shade and a place to sit while waiting in the hot weather.

Easiest travel day and good value for price!

Pickup was super easy and convenient, the bus is very comfortable with air con and seats that can lean back. We also made a stop about half way through the bus ride for people to get drinks or snacks and use the toilet. The ferry ride is super short, less than 5 minutes. Our hotel was a bit out of Cat Ba town and at first they thought they wouldn’t be able to drop us off there but they went out of their way to do so anyways!

Overall: well organized bus service for those looking for a cheap trip to Cat Ba. The trip involves bus (2h) —> ferry (5min) —> bus (40min). Will ride again on the return (could not find a round trip discount). Guil (sorry if I misspelled that) was our guide and really made the experience excellent. Value: Best you can get unless you want to pay more for private or semi private. Booked through Viator for $17.50CAD. Pickup & Drop-off: Flawless Communication: Flawless (easily allowed us to change our pickup hotel 10h in advance). Wifi: dare I say the first bus I’ve ever taken with good wifi? Did not see charging ports in the back but didn’t search hard. Stops: 20 min stop with very clean toilets and moderate tourist pricing. Unclear if this is a commission stop. Comfort: Good AC but dress light. Back of the bus has wider seats and AC in your face. Curtains for shade. Seats recline but most did not as it would hit the knees of the person behind you. I recommend the back of the bus. Legroom ok for tall people (194cm). Bathroom: None on the bus. First stop has free clean bathrooms. Ferry stop toilet is 5,000VND. Accessibility: three steps onto bus. Handicap restroom at stop.

Booking was easy and so was communication and preparation before the ride. We had forgotten something on the bus after the trip and had contacted the Enterprise after the trip. Our belongings were personally taken to the hotel the next morning. That was really nice and sweet. Thank you very much for the ride.
