Itinerary

Your day trip begins with pickup at the designated hotel of your choice in Guadalajara and transfer by air-conditioned coach toward Tequila. Take in views of the agave fields and stop for a demonstration of the traditional “jima” harvest at an agave farm along the way.

Continue on to the Destileria La Rojena to learn about tequila production and tour the Mundo Cuervo® distillery, plus enjoy a guided tequila tasting, performance of mariachi music, and traditional toast with premium tequila.

After free time to have lunch (own expense) and visit the Centro Cultural Juan Beckmann Gallardo Museum in Tequila, board the Jose Cuervo Express® train back to Guadalajara. Sip cocktails prepared with tequila Tradicional® and Jose Cuervo® Especial, feast on Mexican snacks, and relax until reaching the station, where a bus will take you back to your pick-up location.

The José Cuervo Express tour was absolutely incredible from start to finish. The service was exceptional, the staff was warm, knowledgeable, and truly passionate about tequila and the history behind it. The entire experience felt organized, welcoming, and full of energy. The train itself is beautiful and comfortable, with excellent drinks and attention throughout the journey. The tour of the José Cuervo distillery was fascinating—informative, interactive, and full of unforgettable moments. We learned so much about the tequila-making process, from the agave fields to the final tasting. The tequila tastings were outstanding, and every drink we tried was top quality. The food provided during the experience was delicious and exceeded expectations. You can feel the pride and tradition in every detail of the tour. My wife and I took the sunset tour, which has you taking the bus to Tequila and the train back to Guadalajara. You do tastings on the train, the distillery, the show, and lunch if you choose. I'm not one to start drinking at 9am but if that's what you do, take the sunrise tour but I think the sunset tour is a better experience. I really wish I could remember our tour guides (for the English speaking tour for 6-28)but they were great! The tour through the distillery was really interesting. We met some great people, had really good food (the buffet was excellent) and got some tequila not found in the states. Definitely a must do!!!

Some things were great but some things not so good. We did not care for most of the flavored tequila drinks and the drinks on the train were watered down. Service was good but not sure the cost of the train was worth it. Transportation was very good. Appetizers were good on train. Fun once but not again.

Cannot recommend the JC Tequila tour enough!

If you like Tequila, fun tours and distillery facts you will love this. The train was the cherry on top and riding home at sunset was gorgeous. We felt comfortable the whole time even though only one person in our group spoke Spanish. There is some free time to explore the town of Tequila which is nice and they feed you breakfast and dinner as part of the tour. We left with great memories, collector’s bottles of tequila and a new found love for the agave plant.

Me and friends had a great time on the Tequila Tour for my birthday trip! Please understand that you will start your day early and end late! Our hotel pickup was on time! They run a tight schedule and you have to be ready. After hotel pickup up is complete you go to a centralized meetup place for registration and bus assignments. The buses had air conditioning. The ride was extremely comfortable. The entire day was worth it. There was so much to learn and take in. The trip to the agave field was breathtaking. The stop in the town of Tequila was amazing! We got a chance to check out some local food spots. It was so rich in culture and color! The energy there was unmatched. Make sure you are eating throughout the day because you will consume a lot of tequila. We purchased the PM train ride. I am glad we did. Although we drank a lot the entire day, I like that we ended the day with the train ride back to Guadalajara. I recommend that if you are with a group please purchase your tickets together (on the same order) to ensure your party gets to sit together. They do have assigned seats on the train.

Such an amazing time! Highly recommend the sunset tour with the premium train cabin. From beginning to end it was great! It is an all day event, so make sure to get good sleep the prior night. Raul was prompt and a very professional driver. Ceci was an amazing tour guide the whole time!

Not the experience it used to be. Too many tours with too many people being crammed through the experience, with too much waiting around for “our turn”, with too little tequila to make it worthwhile. No longer have tasting of tequilas throughout distilling process, no tasting of special reserve anywhere (not in the cellar or on the train, as we were promised several times). Very disappointing.

What a fun experience on the tequila train! We went with two other couples and enjoyed every minute, from the tamales, agave farm, distillery and mariachi show. The perfect ending was riding on the train with breathtaking views and sampling different tequilas.

No tequila on the tequila tour

I added an additional passenger a couple of weeks in advance and my credit card was charged. The day prior to departure when I was confirming my pick up time I was informed an error had been made and that the additional passenger had been cancelled and my money was going to be refunded back to me. This was a tequila tour with hardly any tequila. We were picked up on a tour bus that carried no alcohol. Our tour guide spoke very bad broken English. It would have been better if we would have taken the Spanish tour and I could of tried to translate the presentation for my partner. The tour dragged on with hardly any tequila. We had a presentation on how to drink the tequila but because our group was combined they did not have enough tequila and we had to share. The rest of the dry tour continued to drag on. Once we were finally finished it was an hour and a half past our lunch reservations and everything was booked up. Once we proceeded to board the train at 6pm is when the drinks finally started. We lost our English speaking tour guide and the Spanish speaker took over. My boyfriend was unable to understand the presentation but we were able to drink and enjoy the ride with the view of the country side.

If you choose English, beware. 75% into the tour you are left guideless. You're given some final set of instructions on what to do next and then where to go. Sooooo you're just supposed to know how to get to a spot because you've been there when you first arrived? Not cool at all. Actually criminal to leave us when we booked a guide in English because we don't know Spanish. On the bus ride up, I was asked if we wanted them to make us lunch reservations at a restaurant during the few hours we had free. I said yes. She asked if 2:20 would be okay. Ummm how in the world am I supposed to know when the tour will break for lunch????? Turns out, it was later than 2:20 and we lost our reservation spot. So you have to wait in line for 30 minutes in the sweltering sun. Overall, the staff was amazing and the train ride back was sssooooooo fun. Prepare yourself for a 14 hour day, door to door. With many glitches, it was still worth it.

We regret that the event of a freight train derailment has affected the use of the track and that our "Sunset" experience, scheduled for Saturday, June 25, could not be completed. The tour was amazing, the detail, the wealth of knowledge Jocelyn had of the tequila process. I wish there was more tastings so I could have made a better more informed decision. Unforgettable Tequila Tour

This tour gives many opportunities to learn about tequila production first-hand. We saw the agave farms and then visited the famous Jose Cuervo distillery in Tequila, After touring the site, we had 2 hours to visit the town of Tequila and have lunch. I enjoyed being able to explore on my own. We returned to the distillery where we saw a great mariachi presentation. Throughout the tour, we sampled great tequila cocktails and tequila shots, as many as we wanted. I loved that! The return Guadalajara on the train was unforgettable. people were so friendly, and we enjoyed drinks and snacks together. Pickup at the hotel and at the train station was perfect. I will never forget the tour, and I highly recommend it!

Beware of False Advertising

While the service and tour was fine, the Viator Management sold us a tour that didn't exist and ruined our experience trying to get the matter sorted out with the Jose Cuervo people. No one wanted to take responsibility and what we got was NOT what we paid for! Go directly through Jose Cuervo, NOT through Viator!

Fabulous experience but be careful of the cabs

All round an incredible experience of having fun at its best while learning something new about Jalisco's special liquor. One note of caution. If you take the morning train from the station you are not brought back there at night. They deliver you to the parking lot at Expo Guardalajara. We had no idea where we were and had to take a cab. there were a number wanting to pick up passengers. We were really unfortunate and got pick up by a driver whose intention was to rob us. Here's what he did. As there were four of us three were squashed in the back. Under the pretext of making us more comfortable he offered to p[ut our friend's bag in the trunk. She thought he was being considerate and gave it to him. After we had driven a little way he said he needed gas. He drove up to what he said was a "natural gas" station. Once there he said we had to get out and sit at some tables while he went to fill the gas for safety reasons. He went off out of sight. We gave him a generous tip thinking he was so helpful. Discovered the missing wallet next day as out friend was not the one paying for the cab! Be warned! It is the first time something like this has happened top me in Mexico so I write the experience off but he was very smooth and obviously this was not the first time he has done this. Can't identify the cab only tio say it was properly marked.
