Full day exploring the Lake Chappala region

    David_S, Apr 2026
We had a full day sightseeing at roadside attractions (including a large Western store and a small Tequila distillery), Lake Chappala, and Ajijic. Our guide, Jose Luis, was not only informative, but friendly and flexible - e.g., my wife and I were allowed to spend more time walking around Ajijic, rather than eating lunch at an arranged restaurant. Jose also helped us to take good group photos. Overall, it was a nice introduction to the Lake Chapala region. We didn't go out on the lake, but we did get to walk the whole malecon at both towns. The pace of the trip was fine (not too slow or too fast) and the van was pretty comfortable.

    Nice deal

This was a very nice tour. The guide, Norberto, was top notch in every way. Chapala is a beautiful town and Ajijic even more so. The restaurant was not so great, but I’m completely happy that I took this tour.

    Relax walking tour

    Andy_Y, Feb 2026
The tour guide Jose Luis was very professional and a good driver. The tour itself was very relax, the guide would stop at each place, let us off the van and have free time to walk around for about an hour.

    Lake Trip

    Frederick_S, Feb 2026
Nice drive south of Guadalajara, cool to see the lake and lake shore. Actually a 3 not a 5 star. Stopped at places just ro buy things. Guide and driver wer very nice. The restaurant we were taken to had good food but an unpleasantly loud band, attacked by seagulls while eating and I couldn't wait to leave. The towns had great shops and galleries however.

    Response from Host, Feb 2026

Thank you Frederick Snoy for taking the time to share your feedback about our Chapala–Ajijic Area Tour from Guadalajara. We truly appreciate your honest comments. We’re glad to know you enjoyed the scenic drive south of Guadalajara and the charm of the lake, as well as the shops uniqueness and important galleries in the towns. We also appreciate your kind words about our guide and driver. For clarity, we would like to mention that Panoramex tour was operated in a new, air-conditioned Mercedes Sprinter, which arrived punctually at your doorstep and returned you safely to your home at the end of the day. Our guides followed the itinerary as described and visited all locations included in the tour description. Regarding lunch, we provide restaurant recommendations, but meals are at guests’ own discretion, allowing everyone the freedom to choose where and how they prefer to dine. We regret that the atmosphere at the restaurant you selected did not meet your expectations as local natural fauna is a RAMSAR protected WETLAND, as factors such as live music and wildlife around the lake are beyond our direct control. Your feedback is very valuable to us and helps us continue improving both communication and the overall experience. Thank you again for traveling with us, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you on another tour in the future. Warm regards, Panoramex Tours & Travel

    Charming Chapala

It’s a very relaxing day visiting lake Chapala and Ajijic. The scenery serene, the guide Sergio was knowledgeable and we all had a fantastic day.

    Exceeded expectations

    Gary_L, Jan 2026
Sergio was an exceptional guide and made the trip very interesting and a delightful experience. This trip definitely exceeded our expectations.

Disappointed! Always make sure all on Itinerary is done.

    Maria_L, Jan 2026
Great tour but all itinerary was not completed wish was a disappointment. Didn’t get to see the ranch n do the boat ride.

    Response from Host, Jan 2026

Dear Maria Carmen Lona, thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the tour overall, which departed on time at 10:00 a.m. in a clean, air-conditioned Sprinter, accompanied by a friendly English-speaking guide and professional driver. We regret any confusion regarding the itinerary. The ranch visit and the boat ride mentioned in your comment are not listed as included activities in the tour description. However, we did make a stop at the ranch area as part of the route. Occasionally, timing constraints and on-route adjustments may affect the sequence of activities. While we always try to accommodate additional requests when possible, our priority remains guest safety, comfort, and delivering the services clearly outlined in the itinerary. We truly appreciate your comments, as they help us improve communication and better manage expectations for future guests. Thank you again for traveling with us. — Panoramex Tours & Travel

    Excellent

    Kirsten_M, Dec 2025
We had a wonderful time on this excursion. Ronny was a very knowledgeable and generous guide. We learned a lot about the history of the region, Vicente Fernández, and the lake. The lunch was delicious and we enjoyed walking around the lakeside towns. We were headed to the Museo Cabañas the next day and Ronny took the time to tell us about José Clemente Orozco and his work. Highly recommend!

    Great Experience!

    Don_C, Dec 2025
We found it very interesting as well as informative. We learned so many things we didn't know and saw things we wouldn't have known to go see. Carmen was great, and the drivers competent!

    ALEJANDRO_F, Nov 2025
Look for a black van w the Panoramex logo. Our guide was Sergio, very amiable and informative. Since traffic is pretty bad, the bus trip is approximately 2 hours from Guadalajara to Chapala. You will have about 1.5-2 hrs in Chapala. Then a short time in Ajijic followed by a stop for mid-afternoon food at a lovely restaurant on Lake Chapala. One comment- if you are hard-of-hearing then do not sit past the 4th row in the van since the guide does not use a micrphone. Also, the van has a light but definite cigarette odor. All in all it was a very pleasant way to see some beautiful and tranquil parts of Jalisco.

    Norberto was amazing!

    Kimberly_A, Sep 2025
Norberto was very knowledgeable and accommodating. It turned out that it was just the two of us on his tour this particular day and we had a great experience. His English is excellent and he is a very kind man. If you are lucky enough to get Norberto as your guide, then you will have a wonderful experience.

Wonderful day trip to the Lake Chapala

    Paul_H, Sep 2025
This was a fantastic trips to see the Vincente Frenandez estate and store. Plus a stop for a Tequila Tasting befor going to Lake Chapala for a short stop and then on to Ajijic for lunch and a boat tour and then to the malecon. Carmen was a wnderful an delightful toyr guide who went out of wat to accommodate me as the only English speaker out of 13 people.

    Great Daytrip

    maryann_g, Sep 2025
We loved the tour. Our driver, Emmanuel and our tour guide, Norberto were great. Norberto was informative, friendly and fun. One thing that everyone should be aware of is that you are provided transportation to and from but you will be picked up at your hotel or home and brought back to a more convenient central location not your hotel or home. You are offered the choice of a few different drop off points. It worked out great for us because we wanted to go to downtown Guadalajara for dinner and that was a drop off option

    Day Trip to Chapala Lake

    Karla_A, Aug 2025
This is definitely a good trip to get a quick overview of Chapala town & Ajijic. As most other reviews have mentioned, you don't get to spend a ton of time in either location. We went during a week day so we were able to walk around both towns at our own pace during our time there. We felt like we got enough information about both places to maybe plan for a future longer stay. The location chosen for our lunch was very nice and quiet & our food was very good. We had a lovely view of the lake. We did stop at the Vicente Fernández ranch & store - some people have complained about this, but this was the first stop on our trip & our guide gave us a good overview of who he was and why it was a big deal for people to come as see his grave. We spent maybe all of 20mns in his store and another 15mns walking to his grave site. We walked in, looked at his ponies, paid our respects at his grave, and headed back to the van.

    All good!

    Remedios_N, Aug 2025
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Our tour with Carmen was wonderful! She was caring, patient, and kind, making sure everyone felt comfortable throughout the day. Carmen shared fascinating information about both Lake Chapala and Ajijic, which made the experience not only beautiful but also very interesting. Lake Chapala is beautiful and the lunch we had in Ajijic had delicious food with a gorgeous view! The tour itself was also very well organized—the van was large, comfortable, and had air conditioning, which made the ride relaxing. On top of all that, the price was very affordable for the value we received. I highly recommend this tour with Carmen to anyone visiting the area. 🌟

Great way to see Chapala and Ajijic

    Lloyd_M, Aug 2025
We have been in Guadalajara for a while and wanted to see Chapala and Ajijic. This tour was a great way to do it. The time spent at each stop was perfect, the guide (Norberto) was excellent and the van was comfortable, clean and brand new. The lakeside restaurant they brought us to on the lake was excellent but you better come hungry since the portions are large. It was a great day and was particularly impressed with Ajijic and look forward to returning.

We had a fantastic time on our Chapala/Ajijic Lake tour! Our guide, Norberto, was incredibly nice and friendly—he made the experience fun and informative for the whole family. He was patient when we made stops to make purchases and didn’t feel rushed. We really appreciated how welcoming and patient he was throughout the day. Martin, our driver, was also amazing. He drove us safely and smoothly the entire excursion, allowing us to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery without worry. Overall, it was a memorable and enjoyable trip. Highly recommend this tour if you're looking for a family-friendly adventure outside the city!

Such a magical experience in these magical towns! Worth the day trip and time spent with family, friends or a loved one ✨😊

    Norberto is great!!!

    SzeWing_L, Apr 2025
I love that tour guide-driver Norberto is really clear about each spot on the itinerary. Norberto was very organised. He gave clear instructions for meet-up points and time for me. Norberto is well-travelled himself and he is very knowledgeable about the local history. We can talk about anything during the day tour. He also gave me good and honest recommendations for my stay. I love his perfect talking pace too! Most importantly I feel safe around him ! Overall I would give the experience 11 out of 10 because of Norberto!

Nice day trip with nice tour guide

The tour guide Carmen gave us history and culture background on Late Chapala and Ajijic. We also learned about Vicente Fernandez. It is too bad we can't visit that ranch. We had a nice lunch at lakeside restaurant. Carmen is very friendly and nicely show us where to see and tour. This tour is worthy the money. They picked up and dropped us at our hotel .
