It’s a long day- but not too long where it’s not enjoyable. Dress comfortably and wear good shoes for walking on cobblestones.

10/10 – Worth every penny!
This tour was absolutely worth the value. Our guide, Mich, was fantastic — fun, knowledgeable, and able to answer every question we threw at her, whether it was about the local area or the ins and outs of the tequila distillery process. The group size was small enough to keep things intimate, and by the end everyone genuinely felt like friends.
We visited two distilleries, and both were memorable in their own way. The first was a small-batch operation where the owners themselves greeted us and spoke with real passion about their craft — you could tell how much love went into every bottle, and the tequila was delicious. The second distillery was more developed and polished, with genuinely beautiful grounds.
Breakfast was a highlight too — a local, no-frills spot on the side of the road where you could order as many gorditas, tacos, and quesadillas as you wanted. Absolutely delicious.
One heads up: be prepared to be out for about 12 hours, so pace yourself! But honestly, it was worth every minute. Highly recommend requesting Mich as your guide!

This is such a great catch all experience for getting to know the Tequila region. You should just note that there is flexibility in the tour and you can choose time you spend on some of the locations. We had such a great time and Andrea, our guide was great in explaining everything and ensuring we had the best time! Definitely recommend!

We had an excellent time on this tour. In total there we 14 people and 2 guides (Giancarlo and Mel). We left with 14 new friends from all over the world by the end of the tour!
We first had lunch and then checked out two distilleries. At the first, we learned about the two processes of making tequila and finished the tour in a tasting room where we learned even more about the different types of tequila. There’s a nice shop where you can buy bottles at the end. I bought two!
Then we had lunch at a carnicería where we had carnitas and chorizo. We forgot to tell them in advance that my wife doesn’t eat pork but they still found a way to accommodate us. I don’t think they had beef or chicken at the time we were there.
Our next distillery stop was very special. It was literally off the beaten path and without giving too much away, you won’t find a place like this unless you know somebody. I bought three bottles from that distillery because I know I won’t find it in the US.
Our final stop was at Cantaritos. It’s a huge outdoor bar space with multiple mariachis spread through the property and people dancing everywhere. We were told it gets super busy so going on a weekday might be best. They had a very large screen for the World Cup as well.
Giancarlo and Mel were our guides. They translated in English for us when needed since I can only speak Spanish at a 5 or 6 out of 10 and my wife cannot speak or understand it all. They were extremely informative and I learned so much from them. Highly recommend this tour if you want to experience something unique.

This was one of the best and most relaxing tours we’ve ever done! Michelle and Juan Carlos were absolutely amazing and made us feel so welcomed from the very beginning. We learned so much about the tequila-making process, visited beautiful places, and had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people along the way.
The transportation was excellent and everything was organized so seamlessly, making the entire experience stress-free. Michelle even went above and beyond at the end of our tour. Even though it was getting late, she still took the time to make sure we could visit our last stop, Cantaritos El Güero, which ended up being such a fun and unforgettable experience.
Overall, this tour exceeded our expectations, and we would absolutely book again. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the area!

Talk about an amazing intro into the world of tequila. The firsthand look at the making of Agave spirit was entertaining, informative and most important, satisfying. Both distilleries provided excellent products to sample. The two brothers who own Tequila Dos O were such gracious hosts in a perfect end to the day. Aside from her near panic attack when a bug flew into the vehicle, our guide Michelle was knowledgeable about the process and the region. She was also a delight. Breakfast and dinner choices were perfect as well.

We had the best day. Andy was our driver and guide - she made sure we were all having a great time and she was so knowledgeable about tequila - a true tequila connoisseur and expert! The itinerary packed a lot in, with a number of distillery tours and tastings, breakfast and lunch, and free time to wander the town of Tequila. Definitely recommend to anyone visiting Guadalajara!

I participated in the tour on June and it was the best season to visit. I went there by myself but couldn’t speak Spanish at all, but my guide was so nice to me and talked with me in English all the time that I was able to have full experience in Jalisco!! You can enjoy both history and drinking in each location, which should be fun for all generations!

It turned out that my wife and I were the only people on the tour that day, so we had our guide Andrea all to ourselves! She's an excellent leader and driver, and made our day super fun and educational. As we drove, she pointed out the many agave plants growing in the region and explained a lot about the economics of the industry. We got a really in-depth look at tequila production at the Cava De Oro distillery, as well as a fine tasting. After that tour, I felt like I knew enough to start making tequila! We didn't realize before then that cooked tequila tastes great (much like a sweet yam). Then we had another tasting at the Casa Marengo distillery where we picked up some excellent blancos at very reasonable prices. Lastly, we rolled into the town of Tequila, had an elegant lunch at a beautiful restaurant, walked around the city, then did some more tasting at a tasting room in town. All in all, it was a wonderful day and I heartily recommend the tour to anyone who loves tequila and the countryside of Jalisco.

Amazing experience. Very well organized. Couldn’t be more please with the experience, Eduardo was very knowledgeable, the experience was great. We were picked up at our hotel, taken to traditional Mexican breakfast what delicious, then were taken to try pulque, followed by a tour and tasting at two distilleries. Followed by a late lunch or early dinner in tequila we ended the night at El Guero. Over all absolutely amazing experience.
Fabrizio_S, Apr 2026
This tour exceeded all expectations. From start to finish, everything was perfectly organized and thoughtfully curated.
A special thanks to our guide, Eduardo, who made the entire experience engaging and insightful. His knowledge and passion really brought the world of tequila to life.
We started with a visit to La Puerta de Hierro distillery, where we had a true cultural deep dive into tequila production. It was not just a tasting, we actually learned the process, the history, and what makes a high-quality tequila. We even had the chance to purchase authentic tequila directly from their shop.
The second stop at Marengo distillery was great because we could already start noticing the differences in production styles and flavor profiles, which made the experience even more interesting.
The highlight for me was the artisanal distillery run by the Orendain twins, Mariano and Santiago. This was a truly authentic experience, where we could explore the traditional production process in a very hands-on and personal way.
Throughout the day, we were also provided with breakfast and dinner, both of which were very satisfying and well organized.
Overall, this is a top-class experience that I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Guadalajara and wanting to truly understand tequila beyond just drinking it.

I can’t say enough good things about The Agave Experience Tequila Tour. From start to finish, this was one of the most well-designed, informative, and enjoyable tours I’ve done in Jalisco.
Our tour guide was outstanding—extremely knowledgeable, articulate, and clearly passionate about tequila. As a mixologist, I already understand the basics of tequila production, but what really impressed me was her ability to go far beyond the surface. She answered all of my technical questions in detail and walked us through every single step of the process with a depth of information I didn’t expect. It was refreshing to be on a tour that didn’t oversimplify things and instead respected curious, knowledgeable guests.
Our first stop was Cava de Oro, and it was absolutely stunning. The distillery has a rustic, romantic hacienda-style atmosphere that feels authentic and timeless. The setting alone is worth the visit—beautiful courtyards, barrel rooms, and multiple tasting areas. A detail I really appreciated: all tequila tastings were served in proper glassware, not plastic shot glasses. It elevated the entire experience and showed real respect for the spirit.
The second distillery was another artisanal operation, and honestly—it produced the best tequila I’ve ever had. Being able to see the full production side was fascinating: the bottle cleaning room, the factory line, and a small team of women carefully packaging tequila by hand. This tequila felt special, personal, and thoughtfully made. They also had incredible beef jerky on site, which was a fun and unexpected bonus.
Later, we headed into the town of Tequila itself, where we had time to walk around the main central area. The energy was lively—people celebrating, music playing, and a small market where you can buy tequila-related goods and local souvenirs. It was the perfect balance of cultural immersion and fun.
Lunch was at Casa Sauza, located inside the Jose Cuervo Distillery. The food was good by Mexican standards—solid, flavorful, and satisfying. Breakfast earlier in the day was a small, authentic Mexican spot that felt very local. While the food wasn’t anything extraordinary, it was genuinely traditional and absolutely worth experiencing. I tried cactus tacos for the first time, and once I added cilantro, onion, salsa, salt, and seasoning, they were delicious. A charming touch: there was a friendly pet rooster wandering around the restaurant, which made the experience feel even more authentic.
By the end of the day, I was full, happy, slightly buzzed, and genuinely felt like I had made lifelong friends. The pacing of the tour was excellent, the variety of experiences was thoughtful, and nothing felt rushed.
If you’re even remotely interested in tequila—whether you’re a beginner or someone with real knowledge—this tour is 100% worth the money. It’s educational, fun, beautifully curated, and leaves you with a deep appreciation for tequila, the people who make it, and the region itself.
Highly, highly recommend.

We had an incredible time on The Agave Experience Tequila Tour! Our guide, Andrea, was amazing — she explained every step of the tequila-making process with such detail that we left feeling like experts. The tasting experience was excellent, and she even stopped in the agave fields so we could take some great photos.
Andrea also took us to a few great local spots where the food was amazing, and we got to visit the viral bar where drinks are served in clay cups.
Visiting the town of Tequila itself was another highlight, especially since there was a red-carpet event happening that added a unique local flair to the day.
Overall, this tour was the highlight of our trip to Guadalajara. We learned a a lot of tequilas, had a ton of fun, and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to experience real Jalisco culture and the heart of tequila production.

Best experience ever, made coming to Guadalajara so worth it. Mariana was an amazing host, she really knows her tequila! Would recommend to anyone

This tour was one of the best ones we did! From start to finish it went smooth, thanks to Jorge for his excellent service, communication & knowledge on all things Tequila & Jalisco. The tour is well worth every moment every cent spent. We learnt along the way from Jorge & appreciated the visits to all local joints along the way for food run by locals. We absolutely loved the chance to visit Cantarito El Güero #1 at the end of the tour. We wouldn’t have visited otherwise & we got to experience it first time. This tour is exceptional!
Guzzla_B, Aug 2025
This tour starts off with a great local breakfast and you'll surely need it. This is a day of tasting some great Tequila. Andrea was great. She explained the distillation process from start to finish and what goes into to making a great Tequila on to the best way to consume it. I left the tour with a better appreciation of each style from the Blonco to the extra Anjeo and what to pair them with. We got a chance to cruise around Tequila town and finish the tour at the well known spot El Guero. Don't pass up on this tour.
Vanthana_B, Aug 2025
I did the Agave Experience tour with Andrea and got super lucky — I was the only one on the tour that day, so it felt really personal. Andrea told me their tours are always customized to the group, no matter the size, which I thought was great.
She’s so knowledgeable and has a background in food engineering, so I learned a ton about the tequila-making process, the different varieties, and even how to drink tequila like a pro. The tasting at Cava de Oro was one of my favorite parts — amazing tequila, and no pressure at all to buy anything. What I also loved is that the tour is run by their company (not the distillery), so it felt more genuine and flexible.
Andrea also took me to a nice spot for lunch, we stopped in the agave fields for photos, and then spent some time exploring the town of Tequila. Overall, it was such a fun day and I’d definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting.

This was one of the best experiences that I have ever booked on Viator. We came to Guadalajara for my husbands birthday and we enjoyed everything thoroughly. It became one of the most memorable days ever. Andie, who was our guide, was extremely knowledgeable about tequila and the tequila making process. You can tell she has forged great relationships with everyone she’s come into contact with. The little taco shop we stopped at in the beginning had some of the best tacos I’ve ever had.
Andie was extremely patient and kind and willing to share all of her knowledge. By the end of the tour we felt like the best of friends and knew not just about how to taste tequila, but the ins and outs of the process. The locations were beautiful and it was truly one of the most unforgettable days we’ve ever had.
Michael_H, Aug 2025
This was a great experience! Andie had it all covered and was very knowledgeable about not only tequila, but Mexican history, culture and more. She was a blast to hang out with for the day. We would recommend this trip to anyone who loves tequila, but wants to know more and learn it from a fun and exciting person. Great guide!

Our day in the magical town of Tequila was absolutely unforgettable! From start to finish, everything was perfectly organized, and we couldn’t have asked for a better guide than Andrea. She was knowledgeable, friendly, and made us feel like family the entire time.
The tequila tastings were top-tier we learned so much about the agave process, visited incredible distilleries, and even got to taste some rare and artisanal varieties. The town of Tequila itself was full of charm, culture, and beautiful views. My entire family loved every moment.
Andrea truly made the experience special. Her passion for the region and tequila culture shines through, and she went above and beyond to make sure everyone was having a great time. If you're considering this tour, book it and ask for Andrea. It was the highlight of our trip!

Our guide, Andrea, was very knowledgeable and we all learned so much about the tequila process. The places she took us to were top notch and I tasted some of the best tequila I have ever had. We all had so much fun and I plan on doing this same tour next time my daughter comes from California. I highly recommend this tour!
Christian_M, Mar 2025
We had a fantastic time with Andie, eating and drinking our way through el Arenal and tequila. She also gave us fantastic reqs for where to go for the evening and dinner in Guadalajara- I recommend unreservedly :)
Hilary_S, Mar 2025
We really enjoyed our day spent learning about tequila and exploring the region outside of Guadalajara. We especially enjoyed our guides (Jorge) and thought they provided a berth of knowledge about tequila production and consumption. This was the perfect day trip. The stops at 2 distilleries and the town of Tequila were just the right amount. We also enjoyed the breakfast at a local place for Gorditas and then a late lunch at a local restaurant outside of Tequila. All in this tour was about 9 hours. Before this trip, most of my family members viewed tequila in a totally different light than they do now... in fact we are now tequila enthusiasts!
Ross_W, Mar 2025
Learned a lot about the history of tequila, enjoyed multiple tastings of quality tequila, visited multiple distilleries and had delicious food.
