Start your day with morning pickup from your centrally located Geneva hotel and travel by private vehicle along the scenic shores of Lake Geneva toward the charming alpine village of Gruyeres, famous around the world for its cheese.

Your first stop is the Maison Cailler chocolate factory, to enjoy a guided behind-the-scenes tour. Discover how Switzerland’s chocolate is made, learn what gives it its signature smoothness, and sample a tempting selection of milk and dark chocolates. You even have the opportunity to create personalized chocolates to take home as a sweet souvenir.

Continue to La Maison du Gruyere for an introduction to traditional cheese making, complete with tastings of authentic Gruyere cheese. Afterward, stroll to the nearby Marche Gruerien market to browse and purchase local specialties (own expense), such as regional cheeses, clotted cream, cookies, and homemade meringues.

Before returning to Geneva, enjoy free time to stop for lunch at a local restaurant (own expense).

Our family trip to Gruyeres was fantastic! Our tour guide could not have been more wonderful! He was so kind and knowledgeable and made sure we had everything we needed every step of the way. The cheese and chocolate tours were such fun. Our family opted to have lunch in the village, and it was one of the most delicious meals I’ve ever had. I highly recommend this tour!!

Henry was on time to pick us up and was polite and helpful in all areas of our tour. The chocolate and cheese tours were ok - but we would have loved to spend a bit more time at the castle. Seemed a bit pricey for what we got, especially considering we had to pay for the cheese tour and chocolate tour when we arrived at each location. The cost you pay is strictly for a driver.

our driver Prosper was personable and lots of fun. Loved the town of Gruyere and the castle. The cheese factory itself was a little cheesy and really didn't get to see much other than a walk thru but no one was working. The cheese shop/gift shop was great though as were the tasters. The chocolate tour left a lot to be desired. It was a Nestle company which is not the best chocolate in Switzerland. Thought this was going to be a small intimate chocolate factory where we would really see how chocolate is made and how candy was made. Aside from that the Nestle company has created a beautiful walk thru video tour that shows the history of chocolate. The gift shop was very large and very commercial, we did not buy anything. Would recommend this tour to families with children but for adults who really want to see and be a part of good Swiss chocolate making this is not the one.
