The tour was as advertised and we were very happy with our guide Hassan. There was plenty of time allocated to explore Volubilis, and the walking tour of Meknes was excellent. A very enjoyable day.

This was a nice day tour of Volubilis and Meknes. I had requested tour in French (though I am American) and was reassured that it would be in French by tour operator but ended up getting paired with another solo traveler from Italy who didn’t speak French so tour ended up being in English. Besides that bit I actually enjoyed the tour very much. There were couple of short scenic pit stops. Volubulis was interesting to explore - the entrance fee 100 dirhams was extra and you can negotiate for local guide there but we opted to just go on our own. There was a local guide included in Meknes, Rashid, and he was informative. Our driver, Hassan, was a competent driver and very punctual for pick up.

Fantastic drive to ancient Roman ruins and the old city of Meknes. Definitely recommend. Make sure to take extra money for entry into the sites and food as they are separate.

Volubilis was cool but...

Volubilis was cool but the I could barely understand what the guide was saying and the whole tour felt rushed. Meknes was alright, nothing special in my opinion if you've seen Fez's Kasbah. The guide here was much better though.

Great ruins, poor tour

This tour was not as advertised and was not up to what we expected. Volubulis is amazing and really worth seeing, but the guide’s English was poor and added little to the tour. We specifically booked a day tour that did not mention Moulay Idriss as we did not want to spend the time going there, but then the tour went there anyway. Between stopping outside town for photos, then going into town for the mausoleum (which the non Muslim guests could not enter anyway) and getting everyone organised again, this probably took up an hour or more. We got to Meknès at about 2:45pm and were told to have lunch for an hour then meet the guide for the city tour at 3.40pm, but our tour manager could not tell us when the city tour would finish and we would leave to come back to Fes, which was difficult as we had plans for NYE dinner. He seemed to be suggesting it might be 5;30 we would leave Meknès, which was when we were supposed to be back in Fes. In the end because we could not get a clear answer we did our own short tour of Meknes and caught the train back to Fes. Oh and the bus driver had an accident with a car. All in all I found the tour organization to be poor, but the ruins are definitely worth visiting.
