Food and drink was excellent with all the scotish cuisines we were wanting to try. It was just the two of us and our guide Noam. He was freindly engaging and knowlegable of the food, history and local area. Definately come hungary as the portions were much larger than we usually get on other food tours. Highly recommend as you arrive in town and give the popular scottish dishes a try.

Our guide was knowledgeable, restaurant food was mediocre .
We were given a very small/limited amount of food & drinks
Response from Host, May 2026
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.
We are very pleased to hear that you enjoyed the guide and the overall atmosphere of the tour, and we truly appreciate your comments.
Regarding the restaurant experience, we would like to mention that every venue included in our tour is selected with great care based on its reputation, the quality of its local Scottish produce, and the consistently positive feedback we receive from our guests. This particular restaurant is considered one of Edinburgh’s highly regarded dining experiences, which is why it forms part of our experience.
The tour includes five food courses alongside four alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, designed to provide a complete dining experience rather than small tasting samples. As with any culinary experience, perceptions of portion sizes and personal expectations can naturally vary from guest to guest, though it is uncommon for us to receive feedback suggesting the experience felt limited.
For full transparency, all food and drink inclusions are detailed in advance within the tour description prior to booking.
We nevertheless always value guest feedback and will review your comments carefully with our team and restaurant partner as we continuously work to deliver the high standard of experience and hospitality our guests expect from us.
Thank you again for joining us, and we hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again in the future.

We were met by a lovely young man called Noam who advised us we were the only guests on this tour. At first we thought this might be awkward but we could not have been further from the truth. He was very engaging and we found his company very pleasant. He was very knowledgeable on the food we were served which was of excellent quality. He knew the history and he had considerable knowledge of Edinburgh in general and we found conversation very easy and fun. We would have no hesitation in recommending this tour to friends and family. Thank you Noam for making it a pleasant experience..

Thank you so much for your kind review.
We are very happy to hear you enjoyed your evening with Noam and that the experience felt so comfortable and engaging from the start.
Thank you again for joining us — we truly appreciate it and hope to see you again in the future.

I’m sorry to say I would not recommend this tour. Our guide had a very thick Spanish accent and it was very hard to hear and understand what he was saying - even acknowledged by him. We thought it was a bit out of place being that the entire group spoke English. In addition, he was very aloof and hardly spoke to my group. Rather he sat at one end of the table and only really spoke to that end, not coming over to ours except to rudely ask for a tip. I thought it was presumptuous and rude to walk over with a square reader asking for money, but not explaining himself. I had to ask multiple times, what am I paying for, before we finally got to the point that it was a tip. I would hope that tip went to the resturant staff considering he did nothing but walk us around the corner and babysit us. It was advertised we’d get 4 drinks, we had 3. The food was a hit or miss. I would recommend that for this cost you’d take the money, go to a restaurant, and order 2-3 courses. There was nothing that made this special or worthy of a recommendation.

Excellent food explained by a knowledgeable young man. We had several courses along with a glass of wine, beer and whiskey.

Maya, our guide was sweet. However, the food was a disappointment. All the food was from the same restaurant and portions were sample size. The setting was terrible. Our small group of 5 was seated in the middle of the restaurant and it wasn’t busy but very loud.
The expense of the tour led us to believe food would be excellent which was definitely not the case.
Response from Host, Sep 2025
Dear customer,
We’re sorry the experience did not meet your expectations, though we were genuinely surprised by your comment. This is the first time we’ve received feedback of this kind, as the vast majority of our guests highlight both the quality and the quantity of the food. Our tour includes 5 full dishes and 4 drinks—more than a standard menu—and guests usually tell us they leave very satisfied.
We’d like to emphasize that we have always been fully transparent in the description of the experience before booking: we make it clear that the entire tour takes place in a single restaurant; this is precisely what sets us apart and allows us to ensure quality, comfort, and continuity of service.
In addition, the value of the experience is not limited to the food: our groups are small, which provides a more intimate and personalized setting, and a guide accompanies participants for over two hours, sharing stories, insights, and the cultural background of each dish. On top of that, we choose one of Edinburgh’s best restaurants, which guarantees quality in every detail.
Regarding the ambience, we usually work with the same tables in the restaurant and have not had issues. We’re sorry that on that day the atmosphere felt less than ideal; that’s not typical of our experiences.
We understand that tastes can vary, but the quality of our proposal is consistently endorsed by our guests. In any case, we appreciate your feedback and we remain at your disposal to discuss your specific case, as we always strive to improve and take care of every aspect of what we offer.
Kind regards,

The restaurant was so noisy we couldn’t hear the food and drink descriptions. Food was excellent! Lovely claret.
Response from Host, Aug 2025
Dear Lynda,
Thank you so much for your kind words — we're thrilled to hear you enjoyed the food and especially the claret!
We’ve reviewed the date of your visit and, indeed, the restaurant was busier than usual that day due to a city-wide festival, which brought in more guests than normal. We sincerely apologise that the noise level affected your experience and made it difficult to hear the descriptions of the food and drinks.
Please know that the restaurants we include in our tours are selected with the utmost care — not only for the quality of their food and service, but also for their atmosphere. From our side, we always ensure that our tour groups are small, never exceeding 8 guests, to maintain a more intimate and enjoyable experience. However, we unfortunately have no control over other diners in the venue who are not part of our group.
We truly appreciate your understanding, and we hope to have the chance to welcome you again on a future visit to Edinburgh so we can provide you with the outstanding experience you deserve.
Warm regards,
Delfina.

The restaurant was welcoming and clean with friendly and efficient service. The selection of food was varied and tasty. Noam provided historical information about the various dishes and even summarized the history of Scottish food at the beginning of the tour. He made everyone comfortable and was happy to answer our questions. The one thing that could be improved is the value. The price was too high for the meal.
Response from Host, Jul 2025
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and for your kind words about our tour.
We’re delighted that you enjoyed our welcoming service and varied dishes. It’s important to us that you know our menu is 100% local and traditionally Scottish: each dish represents many of the ingredients that have shaped our local gastronomic history. The price of the tour not only includes these exceptional dishes, but also a fully guided experience offering authentic insights you won’t find on any other tour in the city. After extensive study of Scotland’s culinary traditions, we’ve selected one of the city’s finest establishments so that you can appreciate this heritage firsthand.
We truly appreciate your constructive feedback. Thanks to your comments, we will review with our guide how best to convey this depth of knowledge and experience, ensuring that every guest understands and enjoys the full worth of what we offer.
Thank you again for joining us, and we hope to welcome you back soon for another memorable tour of Scottish flavours and tales.

We had a wonderful time. The location and food were amazing. But the highlight was our guide, Heather. She was able to explain the culture history of Scottish food. It brought me to life! Highly recommend.
Ken_D, Jun 2025
Food was good; you stay at one restaurant the entire time while your guide explains the food and how it relates to Scotland.

This is a definite must do if you love food and Scotland. Mia gave us so much interesting information while we were served 5 star dishes. We highly recommend you try this tour.
