Itinerary
Say goodbye to Dubrovnik as the comfortable coach snakes its way down the southern Dalmatian coast. Journey to the scenic Konavle Valley, about 20 miles (30 km) south of the city.
Located at the southernmost tip of Croatia, near the border of Montenegro, Konavle Valley is flanked by the Adriatic Sea and the foothills of Snijeznica Mountain. The valley boasts ample vineyards, as the climactic and geological conditions are ripe for winemaking.
Stop in the village of Brajkovici to visit a family-run wine cellar. Learn about grape cultivation in the area, as well as the age-old knowledge of local winemaking.
Visit several different wineries, meet local winemakers, and sample the best reds and whites on offer.
Visit the village of Ljuta, and stop by an ancient flour mill. Next, watch a wool-making demonstration performed by locals in historical garb.
Return to Dubrovnik in the early evening.

Konavle valley wine tour. Picked up from our hotel and taken to three very different vineyards. Each had there own style and character. One had a working flour mill with demo and history, loved this. At each stop the owners brought local crafts and foodstuffs to try and buy. Between the vineyards we were transported on a small land train. Great photo ops. Great wine and lovely people. Our pick of the tours we did on this holiday.

We had a wonderful time on this tour. The families are lovely, the crew was informative, and the views were magical. Our pickup stop was missed, we called and they sent a private car for us immediately. But would suggest if you don't get a pickup message the day before or day of contact them to ensure pickup.

We had a very good time on our wine tour and tasting. Included some great snacks along the way. The konvale area was stunning to see and experience in the little train even stopping at a water mill where the guy showed us how it all worked. Our only negative was that we never got to experience having a walk down the vineyards which would have made the experience even better.

This is a great wee tour to go on - its not too expensive, most of the wines are affordable if you wish to grab a bottle, and there are some stunning views, and quaint vineyards to visit.
When we went there were roughly 26 or so people, which i think is probably the limit. If the bus had of been full then i'm not entirely sure everyone would have fit in for the tastings etc at each winery.
The wines themself are nice enough, and most bottles can be picked up for no more than 10 euros.
If you are collected early then be prepared for a bit of a wait if there is any hold ups or delays for people being picked up.

The tour delivered on both the wine and cultural front. While we were with a rather large group, you didn't really notice. The pickup and drop offs were optimised, touring bus was big enough, the train was comfortable and people could board and offboard quickly and the wineries were always ready, having setup everything in time. So there was hardly any waiting times, wine was lovely and we saw an old mill and heard about the history of the region from the winemakers. It was so much more than just a winetour, there was a whole cultural aspect we didn't expect, but which was lovely. It was well organised and comfortable. Great way to see another part of Croatia and enjoy nice wine and food. Highly recommended!

Very commercialized tour. Little to no information provided about wines, it was like Here is merlo, drink and you can buy it over there. Red wine tasting outdoors when it is 30-32 degrees celcium is a torture. Wines were very average. The only good ones were the whites at Karaman, but 30 euros for a white dry and 75 euros for a dessert white, even for exclusive local grape, is too much. Some sweet delightes were also offered and I bought orange zest in sugar only to find out that its best-before date was a half a year ago and it was cheaper to buy it in supermarket or in duty free. Waste of time.

a chance to see a few vineyards and a little talk from the owners but you will not see any of the the operation just a small talk and even less wine, nice little lunch though in what was nicest stop

overall, a fun trip into the countryside and meeting local wine makers.
we reconfirmed our trip and our pickup time the day prior yet when we arrived, the transfer vehicle had to double check that we were on the tour. a little hiccup that was quickly fixed but it took me by surprise since we had just reconfirmed...
the bus to Konavle Valley was entertaining. we learned some local history and i found our guide to be very engaging.
the white wines were excellent at every stop. the reds left me a little underwhelmed but i come from California so i have high expectations. some of the liqueurs and dessert wines really surprised me. they were quite good!
do not expect to have a meal out of this trip. uncooked bacon, raw green onions and hard boiled eggs do not constitute a lunch to me but i get the concept of the peasants lunch. and i was quite surprised that i liked the bacon so much!
would i do it again? probably not but it was entertaining and a decent value for the money.

Absolutely amazing tour, everyone was so friendly, the wine was amazing and we even got food along the way.

poorly organized. bad guides. tour in both German and English took lots of time. Too many people, not everyone got a seat at the stops. stop at mill was irrelevant. lunch turned out to be bread and boiled egg.
should have had water on the bus, old people were suffering. no cellars. very little wine.

Tour was great fun. Enjoyed the experience, the owners of the vineyards were not at all pushy in trying to sell produce. It has been a long time since I rode a kiddy train ride - great fun
Christian M, Oct 2014
Great time, great people. I would highly recommend this trip.
William H, Oct 2014
The wine tour was very enjoyable and exceeded expectations. The tour guides were very pleasant and handled those who spoke English as well as those speaking German.

This was brilliant value, and one of the highlights of our stay in Dubrovnik. We visited five vineyards, from very small (two and a half acres) to large commercial operations, and were offered at least two wines at each as well as some mysterious and very potent spirits - so don't make ambitious plans for the evening! The owners were all friendly and welcoming, and in the case of the excellent dessert wine, gave an enthusiastic and very interesting talk about its production. The rustic lunch is excellent, and the woolen mill is idyllic and our young guide was superb. Very highly recommended.
Samantha_L, Jun 2014
Nice wines, friendly staff, and the train is fun. The lunch is basically bread, hard boiled eggs and bacon, which may not work well for some people, but I liked it well enough. No hard selling at any of the vinyards, which was nice.

A bit disappointing not much wine and lunch was poor.

This wine tour was a very enjoyable and well organised trip. We had the opportunity to visit 5 different vineyards and meet the families running them. Lots of delicious wine and foods were available to try. The train ride was fun as well and there was some beautiful scenery to enjoy. This trip was excellent value for money.

Leider mussten wir an eine englischsprachige Tour teilnehmen. Wir haben von den Erklärungen leider nichts verstanden. Gebucht war die angebotene deutschsprachige Tour.
Response from Host, Oct 2019
Dear Arthur,
our booking centre informed you about the tour not being available in German due to the low number of German-speaking guests and they offered a refund if that was not convenient for you. You confirmed you don't want to cancel.
Nevertheless, we are sorry to hear you didn't get to enjoy the tour in full. We hope that the wine was tasty and that the scenery was relaxing :)
Sincerely,
Gulliver travel

Alom compliment.
