If you’re visiting Dublin and debating the long trek to the Cliffs of Moher, do yourself a favor and book this instead! We didn’t want to spend a full day of our short trip to Dublin traveling elsewhere, and we are so glad we chose the Puppies and Pints Adventure in Howth. It’s a quick and convenient 30 min train ride from Dublin, and it is a perfect combination of breathtaking cliff views and interesting history. We came away feeling like we'd actually learned something while having a total blast.
Our guide, Paddy, was incredible and made the experience even better. Tilly, the cutest doggo, is a star and was the perfect fix for us since we were missing our own dog back home. She is a world class negotiator when it comes to french fries, so save yourself the trouble and just order an extra side when you get to the Bloody Stream Pub!!
Even with the typical Irish weather (spitting rain on and off), this coastal hike was easily the most memorable part of our trip. As long as you pack a rain jacket and some reliable boots or sneakers (which you should be doing in Dublin, anyway), you’ll be fine. We spent a few hours hiking through the town and along the cliffs before ending at the pub for fantastic food and even better Guinness. It was super easy to navigate and a must do for anyone visiting Dublin!!!
Also - one of the coolest takeaways is an amazing montage video! Paddy sent us the video via WhatsApp after the hike and it included posed pictures, action shots, and a whole trail of where we walked and stopped throughout. It was so cool to send to friends and family to give them a trip update, and I even added it to my end of trip insta post :)

Knowing the title of this tour I had figured it would be a highlight of my trip, but it really exceeded expectations! Had an excellent time hiking around and learning about the history/culture of Howth with our wonderful guide Mark and his fearless companion Missy - cannot recommend this tour enough!!

Patrick was amazing, full of historical events and just entertaining jokes. Hike was a bit more strenuous than this 65 year old with bad knees and back counted on but Patrick and other guests were patient with me and offered a hand when the going got tough. Wouldn't have missed the amazing landscape for anything!! Easy train trip from Connolly station in Dublin!

Great day trip from Dublin. Super easy to get to from Dublin via the metro. Our guide Kevin was excellent - super funny and lots of great anecdotes and recommendations! We lucked out with really great weather for the hike too and the scenery was breathtaking! If you’re looking for a day trip to see a little bit of county outside Dublin, this is a great option! Amazing! The views were fantastic and our guide Patrick was very knowledgeable. And funny! The hike is a bit strenuous at times and can be muddy so be prepared. It’s well worth it though.

This was a FANTASTIC experience! Patrick was a great guide and you get to see so much of Howth! Hike can be strenuous at times, but you do not need to have experience hiking to complete. Would recommend to bring a bottle of watet!

If you’re only going to walk one tour in your life, make it this one — mostly because it ends with a pint and food at The Bloody Stream, and also because your legs may never recover from laughing!
This walking tour of Howth had it all: stunning stunning coastal views and cliffs, hilarious history from our guide Patrick (basically a stand-up comedian in hiking boots), and a surprise cameo from Tilly the sweetest dog who joined us at the beginning of the walk and rejoined us at The Bloody Stream.
If you’re into breathtaking views, belly laughs, and adorable dogs, book it now. You won’t walk away disappointed — ending the hike with a pint at The Bloody Stream was the best!

Lovely hike through the coastal side of town and the cliff walk to see the lighthouse. Stunning views overlooking the cliffs - not for those with fear of heights. Great guide with energetic and funny stories and histories along the way. Missy, the dog, helps keep us on pace. Pictures with video of route provided on our hike. Mark is a kind and funny tour guide with a ton of great stories and knowledge of Howth. Missy is perfect. 10/10, no notes. What a fun day exploring Howth! I loved every moment of this experience. The hike was so fun and a bit challenging for all the good reasons, our tour guide was hilarious and also knew everything about the area, visiting Keats’ home and seeing the views from the cliffs was just phenomenal and of course spending time with a cute little puppy, drinking a Guinness afterwards and making new friends was priceless. I am a solo traveler and I highly recommend this one because you will make friends and have memories for a lifetime. I would definitely do it again!

Patrick and Tilly were the best part of our trip to Ireland. It’s a very easy trip from Dublin. We learned a lot of history of Howth and laughed the whole time. You’re missing out if you pass this up. Howth is also such a quaint place and way slower paced than Dublin. The views of the sea were indescribable.

Fantastic experience learning about Howth. This cliff walk doesn't quite qualify as a hike, but you'll log 16k+ steps, half of which are uphill, before you end with a well-earned pint on Mark. I'd recommend this every day over 8 hours on a bus to see some more-well-known cliffs.

We had an absolutely fantastic time on this tour! Mark, our guide, was everything you could hope for—knowledgeable, witty, and charming. He brought the history and stories of the area to life in a fun and engaging way that captured the interest of the adults and teens alike.
The scenery was stunning, the pace was just right for getting some good exercise, and there was no shortage of laughs and facts along the way. It all wrapped up at a wonderful pub with a well-earned pint of Guinness—what more could you want?

Perfect excuse to get out of the city! Howth is now on my list as a must return location. Patrick was full of energy and stories which made the day fun and the views took care of the rest. Be ready for 10,000 plus steps in 3 hours! The only bummer is that the puppy was not with us on the hike—just the beginning and end, she is getting old. Great tour and would do it again!

This was an exceptional tour! The hike was gorgeous and hiking up to the peak to see over the coastline of Howth was an amazing experience for our family! Patrick was a wonderful host and wonderful storyteller! We learned so much about Howth’s history as well as about the Irish culture- and Patrick connected very well with our teenagers! Great tour. My teens loved it, which is tricky to do! Ok, the dog isn't exactly a puppy, but that is a minor point. Fantastic views. I wouldn't recommend for those afraid of heights and it is definitely a tour where you should be in moderate shape. The pub at the end has delicious food.
