The tour was a delightful mix of history and theater-style vignettes, all presented by supremely talented, engaging actors (Finbarr and Ben for ours). And they get even funnier after each pub? Odd coincidence. 😉 Just be prepared for busy pubs, especially on the weekend!
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Thanks Rachel. You summed it up well

We thought the actors were lovely and super kind/prepared/interesting and invested. We were a bit surprised by the number of outdoor stops - there was less talking at the pubs and more stops outside of them. It was a bit cold for that so I would say if you are planning to do this tour - bring lots of warm clothes!
Response from Host, Mar 2026
|Thanks Emma. DLPC is a walking tour popping into pubs along the way. As the weather gets warmer there should be no need to overwrap. There are outdoor performances in locations of strong literary note...and then into the pub adjacent. The pub stops are to get a drink, sample the atmosphere and check out the walls for answers to the quiz questions throughout the tour.

This is just wonderful! Frank and Colum were very skilled in their acting and leading the group..Try to get to know the other people attending, since that makes the experience even better. It was a rainy and cold evening, but the warmth and joy of Irish hospitality was abound.
You do not have to be a literary giant or academic to enjoy this experience.
It is simply Brilliant!

Thank you Blaze. We are delighted you enjoyed the tour

The actors/story tellers were fabulous! Loved hearing all the stories, and the bars they brought us too were very fun. Great way to kick off a night out in Dublin.

The group leaders were great but our group was 40 people, way bigger than what I would call a “small group” tour and it was too many people to add to crowded pubs on a Saturday night. I would not have signed up if I had known. We ended up leaving halfway through.
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Hello. We don't get that many customers in January. Usually numbers are very low in the early part of the year. Last sat we had 35 ppl. I'm sorry you left the tour half way through. You missed two other beautiful pubs and performances by the actors with the Literary quiz to finish (and prizes to win).
The Literary Pub Crawl is a set of performances by actors on the theme of the pub, poet, pint. Most ppl like the lively nature the Dublin pubs, even on Saturday nights. I hope you join us some day.

The two guys who did our tour were very entertaining, very engaging and fun. Also very good actors! They took us thru 4 different pubs which were very cool but very crowded. We could never find a seat and the amount of people is crazy! Every pub is extremely packed so be mindful if this is what you like. And of course this is out of control of the couple of hosts/actors who did an amazing job taking us thru different points of central Dublin and sharing their great knowledge of arts. We absolutely recommend this tour. Good introduction to Dublin’s pub culture.
Response from Host, Nov 2025
It was a rugby weekend so the pubs were very full. Thank you for coming along

Our guide was spectacular! Informative and fun. Our group of 11 all got to know each other over the course of 2.5 hours. Don’t miss the very last stop to see the first edition Ulysses at Davy Byrnes. We even got to chat w the owner about some fascinating history.
Response from Host, Nov 2025
Oh was Billy there...? That's a bonus. Thanks for joining us Zena

What a great way to explore pub culture through the lens of the famous Irish literary tradition. We enjoyed our hosts John and Colum very much, as they walked us through legendary pubs and other notable stops such as Trinity College and St. Andrews Church. The small format made it easy to make friends with other travelers as well, which was an added bonus.
Response from Host, Nov 2025
Thanks Clinton....really appreciate your comments

The pub crawl is a unique experience in literary journey of Ireland in relation to its pubs where much of these mastpieces were created by Samuel Beckkett, James Joyce, Oscar Wilde, G B Shaw and others. Great performance by the duo who walk you through the pubs.

This was a fantastic evening and a wonderful way to start our visit to Ireland. Frank led us to several pubs and other public areas over the course of the evening. His discussions and performances made it a very special evening. It was an exciting way to learn more of the history and culture of Ireland. Fortunately I only purchased a glass of beer instead of a pint in each Pub so I never had to rush.
Response from Host, Oct 2025
Thanks Bob. The half pint is called 'a glass'. Cheers

Interesting but pubs were crowded so it was hard to hear sometimes. Loved the actors and the singing. Enjoyed the outdoor stops as well.

These guys were hilarious and very talented. We planned it poorly for the evening of our arrival in Dublin and jet lag prevented us from finishing the tour. We would absolutely book it again in order to enjoy the whole thing.

Fun and interesting. Great way to also meet others if you like. I would definitely recommend. Enjoyed very much.
Response from Host, Sep 2025
Thanks Michael. It's a great social especially if you're travelling solo
