Absolutely amazing time. Literary enthusiast or not the team made the tour captivating! The history behind Irelands literary greats was fascinating to learn about and knowing the history behind the pubs as well really pulled it all together.

The Literary Pub Crawl was the highlight of our four days in the Dublin area. Frank and Ross were fantastic guides and performers. They say the crawl lasts a little over two hours, but at the final bar, the party just kept going and our hosts continued to answer questions and sing traditional Irish songs. And even though we did a tour of Trinity College already, when they took us to the college we learned so many new things. Highly entertaining. If I had any knocks it would be that I think there were a few too many people on the tour and they've got to get a better logo for their prize t-shirt. That's one area where I think A.I. can help. :) Thanks for a wonderful experience guys!

Highly entertaining way to spend a few hours in Dublin. The actors were both great performers and guides. You'll learn some fun facts, see some recognizable passages acted out, and have a couple of pints if it suits you.

A truly brilliant evening of stories, songs and banter. With a pub crawl. What more do you need? The whole experience was wonderful. Great for all ages, but especially if you are interested in the marvellous Irish writers of the 19th/20thC. The chaps running this are amazing. A “must do” tour when in Dublin.
Response from Host, Aug 2026
Thanks so much Adrian

The literary pub crawl was the perfect blend of fun references to the greatest Irish writers with a hosted stroll through some of Dublin’s most famous, historic and lively pubs. Along the way, you encounter stories and spirited talk with locals and visitors alike. There is a tight, often humorous script to the portable performance, keeping things happy as you’re led by actors through four pubs, with an extra visit to world-famous Trinity College. That stop is an engaging respite from pub crawling to spend time hearing stories about famous (and very colorful) Trinity student Oscar Wilde.
Depending on how much you know about writers like Beckett, Joyce, Yeats, Shaw or Behan, you will have different levels of discovery during the tour - but it’s all theatrical rather than the least bit academic. Most tour members will leave knowing much more than when they first gathered. There is, you’ll be informed, a quiz at the end, lighthearted of course, with the winner taking home either an official tour tee shirt or a little nip of Irish whiskey.
Be sure to pick up a copy of a tour-themed book by an author named Colin. If you’re lucky he might be at the meeting pub to personalize your copy. And if you’re lucky twice, Colm will join tour leader Frank to perform a delightful scene from “Waiting for Godot.” We toured with Frank and with John as musician, since so much of Irish writing sounds like it was meant to be sung. Dublin will forever be a more lyrical place for you after this tour.

It’s a great way to visit various pubs and hear amazing stories & songs along the way with time to purchase a pint at each stop. We had a smaller group which was lovely. ( a group of 13 didnt arrive) I loved our two guides who were exceptional storytellers. I would recommend this walking tour to anyone.

Terrible! I waited for a half hour at the meeting point and no one showed up. This is the worst organized mess that I have experienced.
Response from Host, Jul 2026
Dear reader. The customer was informed by voucher to present UPSTAIRS in the Duke at 7.15pm where the actors and I greet the audience. 34 people followed those directions to our room in the Duke. I asked GeraldPeter three times in writing afterwards, if the directions were on his booking voucher. He declined to answer. Viator confirms that the meeting point directions WERE on his voucher. There are also two signs displayed at the pub that we meet Upstairs in the pub. Furthermore, he could have simply asked any member of staff where the tour starts. He has been refunded. I also apologised to him in writing for missing out. And I said: 'I hate that to happen to someone travelling solo.'
800,000+ customers in 38 years have made their way to us. That's not the worst organised mess that he suggests
Sincerely COLM
P.S I phoned the customer at 19.54 to let him know that the actors were still at the Duke and were about to move off to Trinity just after 8. He did not answer his phone. So I texted him that information. CQ

While the 2 tour guides attempted to be entertaining, it was extremely boring and went to very crowded pubs with absolutely no plan on what to do with us gen we got there, while we had to purchase our own drinks
Response from Host, May 2026
You had to purchase your own drinks? Wow! You expect us to buy your drinks for you?
This is a walking tour with actors performing from the works of the great Irish writers. We visit two pubs for drinks. 'Absolutely no plan on what to do with us when we got there'...as you were told to get drinks and have a look around for clues to the quiz questions. (for 20 minutes) Surely you don't need to be spoon fed the whole night long. We introduce people to some great historic pubs on this tour. It's up to you to enjoy them. COLM
